Title: Notes on the Elections

Checkers McDog - June 19, 2005 09:57 PM (GMT)
The elections will take place June 30th to July 3rd. Polls will open Thursday morning at 9:00am (Eastern Time), and close Sunday night at 11:59pm, in accordance with our constitution.

The election campaign starts immediately.

All nations that reside in Canada are eligible to present themselves as candidates. Interested nations should announce their intention to run in the forum that corresponds to the position they'd like to assume. All candidates must announce their intentions to run at least 24 hours before the polls open.

All candidates must remember that they have to disclose any conflicts of interest, in accordance with the Conflict of Interest Guidelines.

As stated in the law:
QUOTE
For greater certainty, a Government Position in a region outside of the Region of Canada shall be defined as any position of influence within a governing structure of a region outside the Region of Canada, including those that are equivalent to the Canadian positions of “Minister“ “Deputy Minister“ “Ambassador”, "Delegate", "Founder" and “CIA Intelligence Agent“.

Anyone who holds such positions outside of this region, must formally declare them here.

Candidates are encouraged to post platforms and policy announcements, while average citizens are encouraged to pose questions to the declared candidates.

Any citizen of the region may nominate another for a Cabinet position. Nominations can be posted in this thread.

If anyone has any questions about the cabinet postions or the duties required, I'd encourage them to PM myself, or someone else from cabinet, so that all such questions can be answered. Questions may also be posted in this thread.

I wish all the candidates the best of luck.

hudson bay - June 24, 2005 01:42 PM (GMT)
Too all our new members who are making an effort to be active in the region's governement, I say thank you and best of luck.

Since you are new, you may not have had a chance to come up to speed on the requirements of running for office. So on that point I say, "bump" ;)

Checkers McDog - June 29, 2005 03:11 PM (GMT)
As it is past the 24 hour mark until the polls open, new candidates will no longer be accepted.

Daemon - June 29, 2005 03:28 PM (GMT)
This leaves 3 Ministers acclaimed (Carb as MoD, Red as MoDB, and myself as MoRA).
There are two contested positions:

Minister of Foreign Affairs: Judith Gap, Mister Tony, Phil Jackson, and Freezing Cold Water.
Minister of Justice: Sparta Territories and Parrrrty.

Good luck to all the candidates, and congradulation to all the new Ministers.

Carbanousa - June 30, 2005 12:29 PM (GMT)
Good luck everyone!

Judith Gap - June 30, 2005 12:48 PM (GMT)

Don't worry, he's no longer in power. ^_^

I think he was running away because of Hudson's order to "Grind your opponents bones and mix it with asphalt to pave the roads.", not because of his ministerial position...

I must have OD'ed on the insane root again.

*starts talking to the potted plant*

Almonaster - June 30, 2005 06:59 PM (GMT)
« HELLO KD. I LIKE WHAT YOU'VE DONE WITH YOUR LEAVES TODAY »

kana da - June 30, 2005 07:00 PM (GMT)
Thanks. You too. Is that a new fertilizer you've been using?

Almonaster - June 30, 2005 07:08 PM (GMT)
« OH, I JUST TAKE IT AS IT COME, YOU KNOW. »

kana da - June 30, 2005 07:25 PM (GMT)
Oh yeah. What'cha doing Friday?

Almonaster - June 30, 2005 07:35 PM (GMT)
« GOIN' TO A BARBECUE. YOU? »

kana da - June 30, 2005 07:37 PM (GMT)
Eh, I might be going out with my family to this dumb rock concert thing. Depends if Mom's working.

Daemon - June 30, 2005 08:04 PM (GMT)
I would like to point out that this is the very pinnacle of surreal posting.

kana da - June 30, 2005 08:09 PM (GMT)
Could someone please tell the over-active pine tree to please sit down, I'm trying to have a conversation with a potted plant. :P

Liarg - June 30, 2005 08:10 PM (GMT)
KD, I will be happy to return the favor you once gave me, and give you a ride home if you need one.... ;)

Hey, nice plant!

kana da - June 30, 2005 08:13 PM (GMT)
Home? Who needs to go home? Where's home?

Liarg - June 30, 2005 08:14 PM (GMT)
Gets KD a glass of ice water and a cold cloth....

Places the cold cloth on her forehead.....

kana da - June 30, 2005 08:18 PM (GMT)
Get that lighter fluid off of me! What are you trying to do to me?

Liarg - June 30, 2005 08:19 PM (GMT)
starts preparing a large syringe of Epinephrine...

Daemon - June 30, 2005 08:19 PM (GMT)
Daemon-fir
Pseudotsuga lucifius

user posted image

Daemon-fir is not a true fir and has been a taxonomic nightmare for those trying to settle on a genus name. After changing names on numerous occasions the present scientific name Pseudotsuga lucifius now uniquely belongs to Daemon-fir. The unusual cone is also unique with, forked, snake-tongue-like bracts extending from each scale. The tree is one of the dominant trees in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, and up the slopes to medium altitudes. It has been transplanted successfully throughout most of the North American temperate zone. It also has the distinction of being one of the most sarcastic trees found in Northwestern forests, second only to the seasonal Almonaster Dwarf Maple.

*starts patting the syringe*

Aw, hey there kitty. Aren't you just the cutest thing on four legs ever? Ow, watch the claws.

Look KD. ...a roller coaster....-------------->

as kd looks at the blank wall, James gently injects her with the Epi without her even noticing. Quickly hides the empty syringe....

kana da - June 30, 2005 08:28 PM (GMT)
Roller coaster! Let's ride!

Liarg - June 30, 2005 08:30 PM (GMT)
wonders *how much stuff did she take*

kana da - June 30, 2005 08:32 PM (GMT)
*slowly begins to come down*

Euh. . what's going on?

Liarg - June 30, 2005 08:35 PM (GMT)
Pats, kd's hand....

nothing really....you were just in a tight spot...but seem to be ok now...

offers her the cold water.....

kana da - June 30, 2005 08:38 PM (GMT)
Thanks. *sips water*

Ugh, where's the nearest bed? I'm so incredibly tired right now.

Liarg - June 30, 2005 08:41 PM (GMT)
Where do you want to go...I'll take you...

kana da - June 30, 2005 08:44 PM (GMT)
Where's the nearest. . .

*falls asleep*

Liarg - June 30, 2005 08:46 PM (GMT)
Picks kd up and carrys her out to his jeep....placing her gently inside and drives her home. Upon knocking on the door, a strange older man carrying a 7-iron answers....drops his club with a start, and hustles KD off to bed....

*My work her is now done* James thinks, and heads back to his cabin.

Daemon - June 30, 2005 08:52 PM (GMT)
It has become abundantly clear just how very far we are from Mr. Roger's Neighbourhood.
