Ahem?
When did I get appointed to the Cartographer and Webmaster positions? I'll have a go at the map, but I'm not really set up for the Web site thing.
Also, in the ambassadors link, I'm still the TPC ambassador to Canada.
Mr. B - June 3, 2005 04:58 PM (GMT)
Al, if your not up to it, I could try giving it a go. Ill need to check my schedule, but let me know.

They defaulted to you as you are the Deputy PM.
Mr. B, let us know if it jives with your schedule!
Mr. B - June 3, 2005 06:28 PM (GMT)
Will do, Daemon. Hopefully I will be able to contribute (if Al's cool, of course).
I have no problems making pretty pictures, but may need some information on how to update the page, etc.
Almonaster - June 3, 2005 06:54 PM (GMT)
Works for me. Good to have you on board.
hudson bay - June 3, 2005 07:18 PM (GMT)
This list should be pinned.
Freezing Cold Water - June 4, 2005 12:02 AM (GMT)
Hey,
Can I help out with our website? Let me know.
Thanks,
FCW

One postition we left of the list was the News Desk. The news desk would involve reading the NS forums and reporting back to the region whenever any potentially useful information is posted there (with a link to the thread). So if there is any member of the region that likes to read the NS forum please volunteer to join the Canadian News Desk.

I don't see why not! But I think that Checkers needs to appoint the people/peoples in this case, so I will leave any choosing up to her.

Okay, thanks, Daemon, I will PM her and ask her. I have a pretty good amount of HTML and website development skills, so I would be willing to help make the site better.
Daemon - July 6, 2005 04:47 PM (GMT)
Updated. Notice the DMoD is empty.
hudson bay - July 6, 2005 05:04 PM (GMT)
Daemon could you add that date of last update to the first post? That way one can tell how current it is without having to read the thread.
Daemon - July 6, 2005 08:18 PM (GMT)
hudson bay - July 6, 2005 08:26 PM (GMT)
Good job - thanks much, Mr. Public Servant!
canada6 - October 4, 2005 08:45 PM (GMT)
This post could use some updating. Feel free Daemon. :D
hudson bay - October 4, 2005 08:58 PM (GMT)
Being an admin you should be able to update the post. If you can't have Carb or Chex look into it they should be able to set you up. Good catch though - can't believe how out of date this is...
canada6 - October 4, 2005 09:19 PM (GMT)
OK I'll update it then. I just thought it woud've been rude to... ah nevermind...
I've gotta start being ruthless!

jk
hudson bay - October 4, 2005 09:24 PM (GMT)
btw the deputy MoJ is ParrrrTay...
I guess Daemon and Red are cool maintaining their positions but I haven't heard for sure...
canada6 - October 4, 2005 09:28 PM (GMT)
This thread just gave me an idea... wouldn't it be interesting to have the Historian, RP Coordinator, Regional Website Maintenance and Regional Map maintenance as sub-departments of ministries? Directly appointed by the appropriate minister?
hudson bay - October 4, 2005 09:36 PM (GMT)
The main thing is that someone is responsible for filling vacancies so that the Cabinet Operational Guidelines can be applied.

Agreed. While I can edit the post, I don't think that I should as it's an official list and I'm not a person with official access. I think that it's a MoRA duty, or at least something that needs to be delegated by the MoRA. So canada6 did exactly the right thing, but I wish that there was a more formal specification of Cabinet duties somewhere. Otherwise important lists like this will just fall by the wayside...

What advantage would you hope to see from that?
kana da - October 4, 2005 10:56 PM (GMT)
What about my position as mod of The Village? Is that an official position, or what is it?

I think anything that contributes to the stratification of the government, and it's ministries is good, and it also increases accountability. A minister will push, and motivate his appointed Regional Map coordinator, or historian (for example) harder. Later If any member or group of members were to be discontent with anything, they would know exactly where to complain about it. To his boss.
hudson bay - October 4, 2005 11:20 PM (GMT)
Pushing harder works much better when there is some pay involved :)
Otherwise you have to ask nice and do your best to explain why a given thing needs to be done...
Daemon - October 4, 2005 11:51 PM (GMT)
I totally agree with HB's point.
I also want to suggest that some of the appointed officials do jobs that are kind of "between" Ministers. I personally don't think that the Historian is really logically contained within any particular ministry, for example, so any attempt to reign the position under any one minister strikes me as artificial.
canada6 - October 5, 2005 12:42 AM (GMT)
Artificiality aside I don't think working within a ministry would limit the person's job.
It would be a way to organize and place such appointed positions, in a fixed spot on this forum, if nothing at all.
For example:
At this moment, where can I find a thread, reporting the current progress or status of such things as historical information of the region or the regional map?
One is in the "FAQ", the other is in "Country Introductions". I think these appointed officials, deserve better spots, and ultimately more attention. By assigning them to ministries and making the ministers directly accountable for their appointed officials, I'm sure alot more work would get done.

Until further notice I'll have no objection to maintaining any position I hold. That pretty much applies to anything I pick up.

Right, but every appointed position is appointed by a specific minister. For instance, a vacancy in the Historian position would be filled by the MoJ so that person would be the "boss" of that person.

It is hereby declared that the position of Deputy Minister of Donuts and Beer is open for the taking.
If you believe that you are the right person for the job, please contact Redundancies for more information.
Thank you and please, try the fish. I'm here all week.
420_Celebrants - November 3, 2005 06:40 PM (GMT)
Redundancies has searched long and hard and exhausted all resources (as well as many boxes of donuts and cases of beer and a toilet) to find another Deputy.
Proving that what you are looking for is always in the last place you look, since he isn't looking for one anymore, Redundancies has appointed Omnivorous to be the new Deputy of Donuts and Beer.
Congratulations Omnivorous!

Don't forget to update the Canada's Appointed Officials list.
Freezing Cold Water - November 5, 2005 12:06 AM (GMT)
Hey guys,
I don't mind working on the Regional website. Is it possible that I can work on it?
Let me know.

Who fills that position is determined by Chex. The list is currently maintained by 420.

She told me to go find someone. That person is FCW! So 420 needs to make that update.
Freezing Cold Water - November 6, 2005 10:58 PM (GMT)
So the question should be: where is 420? ;)
420_Celebrants - November 7, 2005 03:54 AM (GMT)
Sorry - my weekends are usually spent cuddling with my lovely girlfriend. Consider the list fixed in about two minutes time.
Bamada - November 7, 2005 04:05 AM (GMT)
Cuddling--so that's what they call it these days....
420_Celebrants - November 7, 2005 04:08 AM (GMT)
While "cuddling" was also done, I quite enjoy being able to cuddle with the person I love. I spend as much time doing it as possible as the weekends are about the only time I do get to see her.
