Title: Im in deep shit!
Description: excuse my french
Magnate of The Albertan Empire - April 17, 2005 07:33 AM (GMT)
Okay so here is the thing. My parents left for mexico last this past monday and they will be gone for 3 weeks. Now because they are going to be gone for soo long, they asked me to take care of some of their plants so they dont die while they are gone.
So i get all the plants over to my place, wich actually makes my appartment look decent. Now its friday nite,(yesterday) and i have my buddies over, and things get a little crazy with the drinks and such.
Long story short, my moms favorate plant is no more and my place is a mess. Now obviously Im goign to have to by a new plant, but should i be a good boy and confess that its a new one, or play it off as her original plant. If i tell her,im in shit, if i dont and she finds out later im in deep shit. So should i just buck up or be sneeky sneeky?

I would suggest you say nothing until asked, then 'fess up to the replacement.
Save the artistry for the story of how it got trashed. (starter for 10 - fell on the highway - got mangled by a passing truck?)

so honesty no the best policy?
Jack_Tarr - April 17, 2005 11:31 AM (GMT)
Chances are 80-20 that she will know its a different plant right off. With that in mind, do the right thing.

What Jack said. She'll more than likely know it's not her plant, especially considering it's her fave.
Fess up immediately and be contrite and sincere. Offer to get her another plant.
Question - why did you have to move them to your place?
Most houseplants just need to be watered once/week.
*shrugs*
Too late now! :P

Apologize, replace it and run and hide. :hide:

Agreed with Parrrrtay -- apologize, replace. She will know its not her favourite plant -- my mother knew when I killed one of her plants, and it wasn't her favourite! They have this sixth sense for that kind of thing. :P Irritating mothers!

Well, after reading all the posts this morning i decided to get a new plant (wich looks nothing like the old one). So I guess i have no choice but to fess up. I think ill tell her next week, hoping on that she will forget by the time she gets back to town.

Don't you dare "ruin" her trip by telling her now!
Not that it would, but how much did she love that plant? :P
It's not all about you. Tell her when she gets back. Let her thoroughly enjoy her trip as much as possible.
I'm thinking she needs it - raising you and all! :D

I also agree. She would be more upset/angry with you if she found out that you did not tell her about it.

Oh just incase you were wondering, whic you probably were not. I bought a replica of the plant I killed, and she didnt even notice. Ya for not telling the truith!
Harley - July 10, 2005 09:15 AM (GMT)
Depends on how good of a replacement is the plant.
j delight - July 10, 2005 03:25 PM (GMT)
What's so wrong about telling the truth if you made up for it?

She could just be playing with your mind when all the while she knows and is giving you the chance to do the right thing. :ph43r:

That's what I thought. She probably knows it's a different plant.
I don't think she is going to bother saying anything.
