Title: Notes on the Election

Checkers McDog - April 12, 2005 11:23 PM (GMT)
The elections will take place April 21st to 24th. Polls will open Thursday morning at 9:00am (Eastern Time), and close Sunday night at 11:59pm, in accordance with our constitution.

The election campaign starts immediately.

All nations that reside in Canada are eligible to present themselves as candidates. Interested nations should announce their intention to run in the forum that corresponds to the position they'd like to assume. All candidates must announce their intentions to run at least 24 hours before the polls open.

All candidates must remember that they have to disclose any conflicts of interest, in accordance with the Conflict of Interest Guidelines.

As said in the law:
QUOTE
For greater certainty, a Government Position in a region outside of the Region of Canada shall be defined as any position of influence within a governing structure of a region outside the Region of Canada, including those that are equivalent to the Canadian positions of “Minister“ “Deputy Minister“ “Ambassador”, "Delegate", "Founder" and “CIA Intelligence Agent“.

Anyone who holds such positions outside of this region, must formally declare them here.

Candidates are encouraged to post platforms and policy announcements, while average citizens are encouraged to pose questions to the declared candidates.

If anyone has any questions about the cabinet postions or the duties required, I'd encourage them to PM myself, or someone else from cabinet, so that all such questions can be answered. Questions may also be posted in this thread.

I wish all the candidates the best of luck.

Is there going to be a nominations thread this time, or has that experiment been scrapped?

I still like that idea. While we are at it: I think that Bweezy would make a hell of a MoFA.

My apologies....I did mean to do it (just look at the forum description :D ).

The nomination thread can now be found here.

As of 9am EDT this morning, we are no longer accepting candidates onto the ballot for Cabinet positions.

We will have one poll started tomorrow morning for the Minister of Defence election. All other positions have been acclaimed.

Hudson Bay has kindly volunteered to open the poll tomorrow morning at 9am EDT, as I will be unavailable.

Jeez, 4 acclaimations!?

Congradulations to HB, Red, and BCC, and best of luck to the two MoD candidates.
