Title: Western Europe
Daemon - March 24, 2005 03:33 PM (GMT)
Invaded by the DEN.
What is the usual course of action in these sort of invasions? There is only a 13-endorsement military delegate.
Carbanousa - March 24, 2005 05:16 PM (GMT)
Usually, if member Nations of the Region of Canada wish to lend support to a threatened Delegacy, the Nation is free to do so.
Due to recent activity and changes in the NationStates global environment, it may be time to reinstate The Dogs of War Alliance to it's founding ideology.
This will be presented in both Cabinet and the Ministry of Defence.

The DEN backed delegate was booted for griefing. WE should have a native delegate again at the next update.

So a success then. It may be worth mentioning that the rules for Invader Alliances has been adapted. They are now a little more stringent. I'll dig out the URL on the NationStates Forum.

Request for Assistance from a Western Europe Native
My apologies if I'm intruding, but as you've noticed, the Invader Delegate has been deleted from Western Europe. I hope that I'm not breaking any netiquette or your Forum rules by doing this.
In order to help ensure that a native gets the Delegacy instead of an old or new Invader, I would ask for your assistance.
Would Canadian UN members be willing to move to Western Europe and endorse the native nations listed below? Once we're in control, we shall password protect our nation, eject all unknown UN members, and deal with our dead Founder in an attempt to prevent this from happening again.
If Canada doesn't have an active Founder, then to protect yourself should UN members move to Western Europe you could password protect this region until you call your members back.
While I'm acting on my own initiative here, on behalf of Western Europe I would like to thank any and all of you that help!
Native Delegates
Illuve
Munatan <-- currently has the most
Brabant States <-- our old Delegate
Mountain Elves
DarkEagle
Leithe
Svalvard
There are more, of course but this should be a large enough list to ensure we regain control unless Invaders flood the region with their UN puppets.

Be weary about passwording the Region Illuve. Apprently the Moderators have implemented new guidelines for this. They have also done so regarding the invading of Regions. I'm not sure if you'll be able to get another Founder, but try the Moderators about re-Founding the Region.
I apologise if you knew this already.
If anyone would like to assist Western Europe in the securing of their Region, please feel free to do so.

What exactly is griefing please?
Carbanousa - March 27, 2005 06:26 PM (GMT)
'Griefing' is a gameplay mechanic that occurs like this: as with 'Crashing' a number of Nations will invade a Region in an attempt to sieze control of the Delegacy. This is usually where the cycle stops. In the case of 'Griefing', once this has been achieved, the new Delegate will eject and ban all Nations from the Region, so no-one can re-enter the Region. They will then password protect the Region and manually enter the name of their Nation into the ban list. They then eject themselves.
At the server-update, the Region will cease to exist as there are no Nations in it.
I hope that makes sense.

| Wow! That's nasty! |
Absolutely. Most genuine gameplayers won't do this - they just want the Region. Some though, will do this.
bweezy - March 28, 2005 04:17 AM (GMT)
My understanding is that Griefing doesn't have to be that extreme - basically, my understanding was that anything that is a breach of NS rules by an invading force is griefing. This can include spamming regional boards that you've just seized, mass ejections, harassment of natives, etc. I think it was a "lesser form" of griefing that occurred in WE.
Carbanousa - March 28, 2005 12:11 PM (GMT)
That may well be the case. The boundaries of the term may have been expanded to include unlawful seizing of a Region. I'll have to double check that to make sure.
Kandarin - April 2, 2005 04:56 AM (GMT)
Griefing is an internet-wide term that refers to playing a game to hurt others. In NS, that rule still applies, but it's usually used in reference to ejection abuse.

Thanks for the clear-up Kandarin. Hope all's well. :)

Well, for those that don't know, after the removal of the invader Del, a large number of UN nations from large and small defence organizations alike entered the region returning it to native control (I was among them on a mission with the North Pacific Defence Force).
