I would like to announce my running for Deputy Minister of Defence. I would prefer this over Minister of Defence.

I would work with the Minister of Defence and the government to ensure the security of our region against invaders.

I was defence minister for two terms back in the days of Chups.

Ok. The rule is the successful Candidate gets to pick his or her deputy. So, my advice to you would be to suck up to each candidate for the job :)
