Title: The North Pacific
Description: Canada's position?
Baribeau - January 10, 2005 01:33 AM (GMT)
A brief (and hopefully accurate) background:
Before I begin please note: Blackshear, though a resident of Canada, was also the active admin on TNPs forums. In his sudden departure, he appointed PD as the forum's sole admin. She has limited technical abilities. Now for the story:
As you may or may not be aware, there is currently come serious turmoil in TNP. The Delegate (Pixiedance [PD]), and the Minister of External Affairs ended the region's membership in the ADN. Combined with weeks of flaming and bickering, this led to the resignation of most of the cabinet. The return of Twoslit (after several months of inactivity), root admin for the region's forums, and his anti-PD position caused the Delegate to move the region's official forums to a new location.
Whilst many regions accepted the new forums and the current government as those of TNP, many others pledged alliegence to the seemingly-abandoned old forums. Even the cabinet is divided on the issue.
Shortly after, stress and a lack of sleep cause PD to hand over her nation (as well as it's 700+ endorsements) over to Pierconium, a PRP senator. Pierconium (also known as Gracius Maximus or GM) declared Martial Law in the region, and banned Free4All, who had the second most endorsements of all UN nations in TNP.
Game Mods were consulted, and they determined that PD (Cathy) had not broken any rules.
Now, for the question: What is Canada's official position? Does it accept the New forums or the old ones? Is the current government legal? Who Heads the Government? Should GM resign PD as delegate of the region? Should elections be called?
Needless to say, there are many unknowns concerning the future of NSs largest region. What does Canada believe is right, and should be done?

So it was Pierconium? I'd heard rumours, but not much else. I know The West Pacific has cut off ties, claiming the current government is illegitimate (which I would tend to agree with). GM is not the Delegate, he has taken over in a coup, and then used Martial Law to remove a rival. I don't see how this could be considered a legally binding delegacy. However, if PD/GM doesn't give up, I don't see how anyone's gonna be able to get together 700+ endorsements to remove PD/GM during a time of Martial Law. However, I'm not a government offical, nor anything more than a village idiot, so this is entirely my opinion.

As of yet, we do not have any "official" stance on the issue. I believe it would be in this region's best interests to retain a stance much like the one that we had during the last NP crisis.
We left our ties with The NP in limbo, we didn't cut them off, but said they would still be there if their region managed to stablize again.
Canada will not be tied to a region that is under PRP control.

I agree with our esteemed delegate and Prime Ministress on the issue.

Martial Law was un-declared when GM revealed his identity. (it came completely with apology speech.

There are ways and means of doing so. It's just a matter of coordination.

More developments:
[I]Cathy asked Pierconium to give her back her account, and he did. PD is once again owned by PD. The "cabinet" now contains 10 people:
Pixiedance
Thel D'Ran
Hersfold
Baribeau
Insane Power
Sage
Honeysheep
Cakatoa
Ahimsan Carthage
Nem
The following positions are vacant:
Minister of Communication
Dep. Minister of Communication
Dep. Minister of Immigration and Internal Affairs
Dep. Minister of Defense
The following positions are un-clear:
EDIT: most (all?) of the positions are now taken, but i dont really feel like chaning my post... I did, however, put "cabinet" in quotes, as the above list is not a list of cabinet members, but rather, cabinet members and their deputies.

So what happened to Agnost?
Carbanousa - January 11, 2005 05:02 PM (GMT)
Is Wilkshire considering the Deputy Minister of Justice position or is it more of a token offer?

I considered it for all of 0.01 seconds before turning it down.
I resigned as Minister of Justice after only 2 days because of Pierconium's illegal ejection of Free4All/Better Times from TNP. There was no way I was going to serve under him as his deputy minister.

For anyone who hasn't yet heard the news, Pixiedance has again been handed over to Pierconium. The region is now a dictatorship.
There's nothing like being stabbed in the back by your 'friends'... :(
Baribeau - January 22, 2005 10:33 PM (GMT)
Those friends including Insane Power, the only actual resident who's declared loyalty to GM (besides Cathyy)

Don't you love dictatorships? <_<

Generally not in the feeder Regions unfortunately... :(

So are we going to take any diplomatic action?
(See
here for The Proletariat Coalition's response).

It's currently being discussed in Cabinet. We will be sure to inform you of our decision. :)
