After consultation, and in accordance with our constitution, the elections will take place February 5-8, 2004.
I have created discussion forums for all 5 open positions in the Cabinet. The sixth position (Prime Minister) is, by constitutional provision, filled by the sitting UN Delegate.
If you wish to pose questions or raise issues for any or all Cabinet positions, simply create a topic and pose your quesiton / raise your issue.
If you wish to run for office, you may signal your intention by either PMing me, or posting your candidacy in the forum corresponding to the position you wish to run for. Candidates are encouraged to post their platforms and views in the forums.
Good luck to all candidates.
If anyone has any further questions about the general mechanics of the election, please reply to this thread.
LET THE ELECTIONS BEGIN!!!
I was reading the election archives, and I was wondering whether or not this election would be another yea or nay vote? or is it that the candidate with the most votes wins?...meaning that if a candidate runs unopposed they get the position
The constitution does not specify this point. In the absence of a provision on this point, I will treat those who are unopposed as getting the position by acclamation. Such a treatment will at least ensure that we have a government in place. What one of the problems was with the last elections was that candidates ran unopposed, and then lost on the "yes vs. no" question.
If someone doesn't like a candidate, then they should run against them. Otherwise, the only declared candidate should win, IMHO.
