Title: How many will compete?
Description: Possible upcoming Regional Olympics

Diskadia - August 30, 2004 08:21 PM (GMT)
I'm still deciding on games. The list is as follows:

Pool
Hearts
Poker
Chess
Checkers
Chinese Checkers
literati
geosense (by popular demand)

Also let me know if you would like a game not listed here to to be listed.

If a game gets 3 or more responses I will consider it.
If a game gets 5 or more responses it will be added no questions asked.
All games must be YAHOO games, not from any of it's sponsors.

Also I must state, that the regional Olympic games have NOT been confirmed or even awarded yet. I may not even be awarded the games, in which case someone else will be deciding the games. This is just a preliminary list.

MrPopo - August 30, 2004 08:24 PM (GMT)
literati would be a fun one. add it to the list :)

Im not a fan of chinese checkers. And I dont even know what hearts is. Otherwise the rest are fine by me

MrPopo - August 30, 2004 08:26 PM (GMT)
However I am voting no.

Likely if this passes you will need me as a judge. So I wont be able to participate.

Ess - August 30, 2004 08:36 PM (GMT)
I can't vote. :(

You did not choose a poll choice to vote against. Please go back and ensure you click on one of the radio buttons next to the choice you wish to vote for

I'd enter hearts, poker and literati for sure.

I'd have to practice at, but would probably still enter checkers, chinese checkers and pool.

Maybe chess as a ha-ha! :P

Diskadia - August 30, 2004 09:02 PM (GMT)
how could i turn literati down. I love scrabble! I would add euchre but who else is gonna play. I may not even have hearts in. Unless you'd like to win by default? :P

Ess - August 30, 2004 09:24 PM (GMT)
I'd play Euchre, but you're right, there probably wouldn't be enough people.
On that note, why the need for so many judges?

The scores, etc are automatically logged by Yahoo.

I can see the need for one maybe...

Diskadia - August 30, 2004 09:28 PM (GMT)
yes. but obtaining the results would be a bit harder for actual people to do. the results could be fudged. However you ARE right, we don't need 3. but we will need at least one in all games. to essentialy MOD the game. kick out troublemakers and the like. And if the game glitches up. It DOES happen to decide what to do.

MrPopo - August 30, 2004 10:07 PM (GMT)
individuals scores are logged but Ive been playing yahoo pool for years.

You need someone to witness each game, prove the winners. Tournament style. And since not everyone is online at the same time we would need different judges at different times. While it says im on the forum all day Im usually not here I just leave my computer on. I could easily do the late night/early morning games. SS is usually on in the late evenings and im not sure about Disk.... but we could use a daytime judge for you afternooners.

Diskadia - August 30, 2004 10:31 PM (GMT)
hmm. well i'm on the west coast. PST so..... I'm always on late here bout 8pm to 2am. That would put me in the night!! for EST. Actually I can be on almost all the time, provided I know a couple days in advance. I can't be on past 3amPST-9amPST however. I need to sleep, and i can't be sleeping in the afternoon!

I can't vote either :(

Something's wrong with this poll....

kana da - August 30, 2004 11:23 PM (GMT)
Someone selected, "Multiple" instead of "Single" under choice. I'll post a new thread with a corrected poll.

Diskadia - August 30, 2004 11:30 PM (GMT)
oops aren't i a bozo.

Nyu - August 31, 2004 01:56 AM (GMT)
I will play checkers and hearts, and coughgeosensecough.

I could also play chess but I wouldn't be much of a challange.

It's really the luck of the cities you get...

For example, if you get anything in Russia, you're screwed :D

MrPopo - August 31, 2004 02:17 AM (GMT)
the scores arent verefiable for competition :P

although geo sense is not a yahoo game it ROCKS. and would make an excellent game for the olympics. but tell me, can there be non participants in geo sense?

Scanada - August 31, 2004 05:16 AM (GMT)
i would enter all except geosense (i havent heard of it)........i might try geosense anyway if thats ok with u guys........but what day(s) are the "olympics"??

Diskadia - August 31, 2004 05:30 AM (GMT)
Late september no days have been confirmed yet however.

Is it possible to merge this 3 threads together or lock a couple of them. we really only need one. If you lock any of them leave the new one by kana da open it's the one with the proper poll.

Ess - August 31, 2004 09:31 PM (GMT)
How about Pyramids and/or Blocks?
They are single player games that are usually over fairly quick, at least for me. <_< :P

chademala - September 11, 2004 06:23 PM (GMT)
i would enter into all except geosense, since i have no idea what it is.
