Title: Still here! :D
Description: Vote for me! :P
Beaver-Country-Canada - July 28, 2004 01:31 AM (GMT)
Hello!
My name is Lelana Songwind, and I am the rep from Beaver-Country-Canada (known as BCC on the boards). I have been Minister of Foreign Affairs for more than 2 monthes now, and I really enjoy the job. I get to travel to new regions, meet all kinds of people, and set up ties with them as well! My recent accomplishments include an embassy in 10000 Islands and an embassy in Western Europe (though MrPopo helped with that one).
I've been having lots of fun with this job, and would like to continue on with it! Good luck to any fellow candidates!

1. Canada has had much trouble staffing its current complement of embassies. Where are we going to find the staff for an additional ten embassies?
2. What criteria will be used to determine whether a prospective region is worthy of diplomatic relations with Canada?
3. Should Canada have embassies in other Pacific regions, and why?
|
In answer to Bweezy's questions....
1. In actual fact, we aren't have any trouble staffing our embassies right now, and if need be, I, as Minister of Foreign Affairs, will take over any embassies that do need staffing, no matter what the cost is.
2. The criteria used to determine whether a prospective region is worthy of diplomatic relations are usually very indepth. First the region is checked out on the NS site, then the region's offsite boards are checked out. Someone asks questions of the acting MoFA for that region, tries to meet their founder and/or Delegate, and finally, Cabinet takes a vote on whether or not the region is worthy of ties.
3. Depending on the region, and on the status of the region, we may or may not want embassies in certain Pacific regions, mainly due to the fact that Canada is a free country, and we don't want anyone trying to take us over through our embassies, or in any other ways.

4. Both candidates seem to have an active interest in bringing migrants into the region from abroad. Whats each of your opinions/goals/ideas to get members of the region at large active in the forums? Is it a priority with the goal to get 10 more ambassadors together? And what are some of the prospective regions?
|
My opinions on RP aren't the best; I don't like it that much, but many other people do like it. We already have an acting RP forum, and many people RP all the time. At this time, we go on recruiting drives to bring in candidates and we rejoice when some of them find us.
We already have many ambassadors and embassies set up, most of which are staffed. At this time, we have no prospective regions, but we are being very careful, due to the NPO crisis.

Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs
Blackshear - August 8, 2004 03:37 PM (GMT)
Just a few questions:
What was your original motivation for running for office and what is your favourite part of the job?
What is your vision for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs?
What skills and experiences do you possess that make you suitable for this position?
Beaver-Country-Canada - August 8, 2004 08:03 PM (GMT)
1. My original motivation was nonexistant; I got bumped because Maik left. However, I quickly learned what a fun job this is! I get to go to other countries constantly, visit their Heads of State, and I get to meet and greet new ambassadors to Canada, and introduce new ambassadors from Canada to everywhere else!
2. For the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, I see a great future. We already have many ties, and we already meet lots of new ambassadors, as well as getting people from other regions to join ours.
We wish to see the regions become even more friendly, so that people from Canada can be welcomed in any of our allied regions.
3. As far as skills I possess, I can't tell you exactly what. MoFA is a hard job, though, and you've always got to be on the ball! As an organized and efficient person, I am definitely ready for this job!

What is your response to the new defensive alliance proposal in the Pacifics?
Do you believe this new proposal will fundamentally change Canada's foreign policy direction?
What do you believe our foreign policy toward stable, mainly democratic, and large regions should be?
Finally, what would be our main reason to entice nations in other regions to Canada?

What is your response to the new defensive alliance proposal in the Pacifics?
My response to that was "intriguing"... but its not something we wish to become a part of. The Pacifics are their own group, Canada is a well off nation already.
Do you believe this new proposal will fundamentally change Canada's foreign policy direction?
I don't think it will change our foreign policy direction much, if at all. We make diplomatic ties with regions that have a benefit to us, and that we have a benefit to. We don't just join with regions for no reason.
What do you believe our foreign policy toward stable, mainly democratic, and large regions should be?
It depends on the region. If it is a peaceful region by nature, then by all means, ties would be great. However, if the region itself is in trouble, (consider the NP), then we cannot legally introduce ties with an unstable region. If the region is known to have a good military, but hasn't picked any fights, then we should have no problems.
Finally, what would be our main reason to entice nations in other regions to Canada?
Canada is a peaceful, fun-loving place. We are a great country, we have the Dogs of War and the CIA, and we are rather large as well. I believe these things make us a great ally.
