Title: A few notes on the upcoming elections

Checkers McDog - July 28, 2004 12:05 AM (GMT)
The elections will take place August 12th to 15th. Polls will open Thursday morning at 9:00am (Eastern Time), and close Sunday night at 11:59pm, in accordance with our constitution. The election campaign starts immediately.

All nations that reside in Canada are eligible to present themselves as candidates. Interested nations should announce their intention to run in the forum that corresponds to the position they'd like to assume. All candidates must announce their intentions to run at least 24 hours before the polls open.

Candidates are encouraged to post platforms and policy announcements, while average citizens are encouraged to pose questions to the declared candidates.

If anyone has any questions about the cabinet postions or the duties required, I'd encourage them to pm someone from cabinet, so that all such questions can be answered.

If there are questions, feel free to respond to this thread.

I wish all the candidates the best of luck.

Wanted: Candidates

Do you want to make our great region even better? Do you want to have an influence on how things work around here? Are you happy with the status quo, but don't want the incumbents to have a free ride? Then run for office!

The nomination period for this election continues until 24 hours before the polls open, or 9 AM EDT, Aug 11.

How do I run for a position?

I believe you post in the forum of the position you wish to run for.

Ok, do I have to be in the UN to run for a position?
Let me know. Thanks.

You don't have to be in the UN to run :)

Freezing Cold Water - August 10, 2004 03:25 AM (GMT)
Good :D :)

Oilers Fans - August 10, 2004 01:45 PM (GMT)
Not to critize Freezing Cold Water's campaign, but is it legal to run for 2 positions?
(MoFA and MoRA)

bweezy - August 10, 2004 01:54 PM (GMT)
While the constitution forbids the holding of two positions, there is no prohibition against *running* for two positions.

Micon - August 10, 2004 01:54 PM (GMT)
You can run for more than one position but you can only hold one.

Just a reminder that polls open tomorrow morning at 9AM EDT. Please vote :)

Also, if the polls aren't up at exactly 9AM, it's because my alarm didn't go off...don't be mad :P

Carbanousa - August 12, 2004 09:33 AM (GMT)
We'll forgive you. :D
