Title: Resolution to reform the United Nations
Description: to discourage regioncrashing

MrPopo - July 12, 2004 04:00 AM (GMT)
The Resolution:
QUOTE
The United Nations has been a longstanding organization that has stood up for the human rights of nations throughout the globe, and has affected social reform, environmental protection, and even political  regimes. In the nationstates world, it is the job of the UN to protect the rights and freedoms of those who chose to join its ranks, and defend the rights of those who may choose to join.

But the UN in recent times has become defunct. Its taste is poisonous. Large chunks of the united nations voting pool are not democratically decided. Instead, they are cheated votes. Cheated from the honest and given to those who seek masterical power over the known nationstates world.

Recently the spawn regions have become targets of political regimes, controlling a vast majority fot he vote, and aimed to control those votes for the political wellbing of only those involved.

This resolution seeks to discourage all political regimes which seize control of more than one region in hopes to sway the votes of those regions and send them into chaos and turmoil.

1. Let it be known that political regimes that seek to destabilize regions will become targets to the world. May this resolution in effect horrify and shock those that choose imperialism over democracy and self-rights.

2. This resolution effects a fairer voting conscience in the public eye. That all nations of the UN  express their opinion to their delegate, and encourages the delegate to make a fair democratic decision thusly, and not act in impulse or in self opinion against the wishes of the region which placed them in power. Let it encourage the fairer democratic delegate be elected.

3. Regions have a right to self-determination, and invader regions shall be deemed to be breaching international law and subject to the full, utter condemnation of the UN and its members in good standing. Let all invader regions of the UN be known that they will be deemed enemies, henceforth, of the United Nations. And may United Nation members feel imposed and have right to decalare unforgiving war against these invader regions in mass.  Exceptions to the rule include those regions which seek to support and maintain the rightful democracy of these regions with legitimate UN leaders against coming invader regions.

May this resolution seek to reimpose democracy to the UN, and clean the UN of its evils and indescretions. Invaded regions shall no longer be ignored, and invader regions shall forever be condemned.

the opinion:
Anyone have anything they want to add/change before its submitted to the UN? Any opinions?

CHANGES HAVE BEEN MADE PLEASE REFER TO THE LATTER RESOLUTION POSTED BELOW

Emus in denial - July 12, 2004 04:21 AM (GMT)
Perhaps the simplest way to discourage invasions is to institute a mandatory one week waiting period between entering a region and having the right to give endorsements there. It doesn't make it impossible to destroy a region but it does give the existing delegate a lot of time to rally their allie or boot known troublemakers.

Checkers McDog - July 12, 2004 04:22 AM (GMT)
The problem with that is that it cannot be enforced...the only thing a UN resolution can do is "frown upon" activities.

DrunkenHosers - July 12, 2004 06:20 AM (GMT)
You should probably define "invader regions". Aside from that, well, it won't work, but I salute you for it.

First of all.... use a spellchecker. :)

In the NationStates world, it is the job of the UN to protect the rights and freedoms of those who chose to join its ranks, and defend the rights of those who may choose to join.

But the UN in recent times has become democratically defunct. Its taste is poisonous. Large chunks of the United Nations voting pool are not democratically decided. Instead, they are cheated votes - cheated from the honest and given to those who seek masterical power over the known NationStates world.

Recently the spawn regions have become targets of political regimes, controlling a vast majority of the vote, and aimed to control those votes for the political wellbeing of only those involved.

This resolution seeks to discourage all political regimes which undemocratically seize control of more than one region in  hopes to sway the votes of those regions or send them into chaos and turmoil - hereby defined as regioncrashers or invader regions and as defined in the nationstates rules -

In essence, much time and effort is devoted to setting up offsite forums and nations who come into control of regions for the sole purpose of destroying much of this effort and swaying the region for UN purposes, banning former democratically elected cabinets, and decimating populations to make them more dictator-friendly should be in essence banned. But since the gameplay mechanics will not allow such a resolution to be put forth, this resolution then authorizes and promotes the mobilization of war against such regimes, war on a mass scale.

1. Let it be known that political regimes that seek to destabilize regions will become targets to the world. May this resolution in effect horrify and shock those that choose imperialism over democracy and self-governance.

And may it encourage a fairer democracy to rule in the UN.

3. Regions have a right to self-determination, and invader regions shall be deemed to be breaching international law and subject to the full, utter condemnation of the UN and its members in good standing. Let all invader regions of the UN be known that they will be deemed enemies, henceforth, of the United Nations. And may United Nation members feel imposed and have right to declare unforgiving war against these invader regions in mass.  Exceptions to the rule include those regions which seek to support and maintain the rightful democracy of these regions with legitimate UN leaders against coming invader regions.

4. This resolution seeks to coordinate a plan of execution against any and all invader regions. May nations and regions all around read this in passing and say to themselves "Hey, they are right! We must do something." And may those nations coordinate together against the common enemy who imposes their will on a region they were uninvited to and whose politics they have changed for the sole purpose of controlling the UN, or killing the region.

5.  May this resolution seek to inact a change in heart of those who run with invader regions. May they know that it took time, effort, planning, and friendships have been built creating regions. And every crashed region splits up friends who sometimes never seek again to find each other, or discourages those who join the game who then quit, or disappear. The resolution is that they realize the grieving they cause, and instead decide to build a region of their own where they can come together to control their majority vote democratically and not to interfere with the affairs of other regions. The UN was created for the betterment and protection of mankind, not to impose power against mankind for the furtherence of the elite!

6. And in turn, the resolution demand the regioncrasher delegate have respect for the democratically elected cabinet and offsite forum, and listen with open ears to their wishes if they choose to remain in control of the region. It forces no boundaries to be respected, but calls upon the good of the regioncrashers to have respect for those who wish to have peace in the region, and those who put time and effort into turning the region into a community rather than a regime!

7. May this resolution henceforth discourage regioncrashing by United Nation members, as it is undemocratic and against the very principle the UN is founded on. May this resolution seek to reimpose democracy to the UN, and clean the UN of its evils and indiscretions. Invaded regions shall no longer be ignored, and invader regions shall forever be condemned.

Ive made some more changes to make this resolution feel more powerful and profound, and help it pass the mods to go to vote. I will post it on many forums throughout the land. Without objections I will join the UN and post it.

And as far as I can see the spelling has been fixed. Mostly me and my stupid typing skills. Argh

Caer Rialis - July 12, 2004 11:18 PM (GMT)
I agree that a definition of invader regions is desparately needed in this proposal. Secondly, I do not belive this proposal has a snwoball's chance in passing. It cannot be enforced and, as events in the NP have shown, each region is not set up to be democratic.

Sorry, just my 0.02 from south of the border

MrPopo - July 28, 2004 12:13 AM (GMT)
I am about to propose this proposal. Any help getting it to pass/to vote would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!

MrPopo - July 28, 2004 12:18 AM (GMT)
Well seems I need to scale it back about 1500 characters

MrPopo - July 28, 2004 12:41 AM (GMT)
Pardon the editing I had to do. Stupid UN

heres what the name of the proposal is:
"Questioning the role of the UN"

Here is the proposal:

The United Nations has been a longstanding organization that has stood up for the human rights of nations throughout the globe, and has affected social reform, environmental protection, and even political regimes. In the NationStates world, it is the job of the UN to protect the rights and freedoms of those who chose to join its ranks.

But the UN in recent times has become democratically defunct. Large chunks of the UN voting pool are not democratically decided. Instead, they are cheated votes - cheated from the honest and given to those who seek masterical power over the known NationStates world.

This resolution seeks to discourage all crasher political regimes which undemocratically seize control of more than one region in hopes to sway the votes of those regions or send them into chaos and turmoil.

In essence, much time and effort is devoted to setting up offsite forums and nations who come into control of regions for the sole purpose of destroying much of this effort, banning former democratically elected cabinets, and decimating populations to make them more dictator-friendly should be in essence banned.

2. Let it encourage the fairer democratic delegate be elected. And may it encourage a fairer democracy to rule in the UN.

3. Regions have a right to self-determination, and invader regions shall be deemed to be breaching international law and subject to the full condemnation of the UN and its members in good standing. Let all invader regions of the UN be known that they will be deemed enemies, henceforth, of the United Nations. And may UN members feel imposed and have right to declare unforgiving war against these invader regions in mass.

4. This resolution seeks to coordinate a plan of execution against all invader regions. May nations and regions all around read this in passing and say to themselves "Hey, they are right! We must do something." And may those nations coordinate together against the common enemy.

5. May this resolution seek to inact a change in heart of those who run with invader regions. May they know that it took time, effort, planning, and friendships have been built creating regions. The resolution is that they realize the grieving they cause, and instead decide to build a region of their own and not to interfere with the affairs of other regions.

It forces no boundaries to be respected, but calls upon the good of the regioncrashers to have respect to those who put time and effort into turning the region into a community rather than a regime!

7. May this resolution henceforth discourage regioncrashing by United Nation members, as it is undemocratic and against the very principle the UN is founded on.

Thank you all for any help you may give me

Well, I'll start lobbying the delegates I spoke to you about.

MrPopo - July 28, 2004 09:45 AM (GMT)
the mods deleted it anyways so....

shitty

Carbanousa - July 28, 2004 05:02 PM (GMT)
Damn. It was well written too.

Blackshear - July 28, 2004 05:15 PM (GMT)
According to the mods, invading and defending are accepted and established parts of the game. They weren't going to allow an amendment that would affect the gameplay of a significant group of NS players.

Carbanousa - July 28, 2004 05:27 PM (GMT)
I thought that may have been the case here.

MrPopo - July 28, 2004 10:16 PM (GMT)
According to the mods, the proposal interferes with regional matters. I somehwat see it, but I did inform them that it would not change game mechanics. They isnst, however that it still is too "regional" for their liking. According to them, the UN deals with NATIONS, not regions.

In that case, I say disband the delegacy!
