For right ow it is my intent to just observe how things are before putting myself into the flow of things, however if there is something that I can do, plase do not hesitate to ask me.

On behalf of the residents of the South Pacific, I thank you for your hospitality and look forward to long and smooth relations between our nations.

Sweet, a fellow Lackey fan.

Beaver-Country-Canada - June 14, 2004 03:46 AM (GMT)
Ahh! That's exciting! I love her books, she's my favourite author! (Be careful -- I can talk about her Valdemar series for days! :P)

My faves are the Vanyel books (Last Herald-Mage Series) -- you can tell by the sig :) What are your favourites? I've read her Elemental Masters series too, the fairy tales ones, and those are great -- I only have yet to find a bookstore that carries them!

I'll stop there :)

I've never read the Elemental Masters series. I really like the SERRAted edge series, but my favorite Valdemar series is the Storm Winds trilogy. All of the Valdemar series is excellent, and I've actually had to buy new copies of some of them from wearing the old ones out.

Have you read anything by David Eddings? His (well his wife's too since she is his collaborator and coauthor) is really good as well. Yeah, I can go on about my favorite authors as well...

MrPopo - June 27, 2004 02:58 AM (GMT)
THATS WHAT I NEED! A co-author :D Thanks!

Carbanousa - June 27, 2004 12:47 PM (GMT)
Someone to keep you in line, or to create truly random plots MrPopo?

MrPopo - June 27, 2004 05:30 PM (GMT)
I need someone to read what I have and throw out subplots and such. Or random paragraphs, get this 200page project over the 300 mark....

Carbanousa - June 27, 2004 05:54 PM (GMT)
No mean feat by any means.

Beaver-Country-Canada - June 27, 2004 06:20 PM (GMT)
Athynz, David Eddings is great, I agree. I've read the 6 books about the Bhelliom, which are awesome books, but I never could seem to get into the Mallorean or the Belgariad, or the Rivan Codex or any of those, so unfortunately, I can't say ALL his work is great :P But, probably this summer when I get bored out of my mind, I'll read his books, and get back to you :D

I bought new copies of the Vanyel series for my brother because I totally destroyed his (those are now mine :P), so he's got nice, shiny new copies, and I've got these old, beaten up copies. In fact, I started Magic's Pawn again last night! hehe. Its fun.

Have you read any Michael Crichton (I can never spell it, let alone say it!) lately? I just finished a book of his from 1997, called Airframe, and about 2 monthes ago I read another of his called Prey (borrowed from one of my guy friends in my English 12 class). He's pretty good, as far as thrillers go, I'm not usually in for them, but his are quite deep. Unfortunately, his endings suck :P But, I can live with that!

I'd love to read Chrichton's (et al) 'Eaters Of The Dead'. The movie, although skewed from the original concept, was awesome!

Beaver-Country-Canada - June 27, 2004 08:19 PM (GMT)
Never heard of that one, but it sounds like a Crichton novel :P I'll have to look it up in the library when I go tomorrow -- I'll tell you how it is when I've finished reading it, mmkay? :P

MrPopo - June 27, 2004 09:10 PM (GMT)
awesome! please do, a friend of mines read it he says its great.

PS: for those in the know, Eaters Of The Dead has been made into a hollywood blockbuster movie of a different name. I know what it is, can anyone tell me without looking it up? (insert nerd emoticon here)

Carbanousa - June 27, 2004 09:11 PM (GMT)
Was it Brain Dead?

MrPopo - June 27, 2004 09:23 PM (GMT)
Nope. I've never heard of Brain Dead. But good guess.

athynz - June 28, 2004 10:23 PM (GMT)
I haven't read Crichton - yet. maybe after the move I'll have to pick up one of his books....

Have you ever read anything in the Forgotton Realms series? Yup, I'm a Sci-Fi/ Fantasy freak, heavy on the freak. But it's all good.

Beaver-Country-Canada - June 28, 2004 10:59 PM (GMT)
LOL athynz, no worries. I'm just as bad, and my brother is probably worse! :P

Popo, I finished Crichton's Eaters of the Dead -- weird book. Hope you're into history! Its not bad, but its hard to understand since its actually from the original writer, Ibn something-or-other's, perspective. A lot of stuff was explained by Crichton, etc. But it was good, I have to admit that. Check it out, and make your own assumptions :P I've never been the best critic!

holy crap!
its been what, 2 days!

You're crazy!

So do you know which movie it became?

Beaver-Country-Canada - June 29, 2004 02:58 AM (GMT)
I have no idea. But it took me 2.5 hours this afternoon, and I borrowed it from the library this morning :P I am SUPERBLY bored!

What type of movie was it, though? Horror? The book was sort of history-ish, and I don't watch histories or horrors :P Give me a hint!

Lelana

MrPopo - June 29, 2004 03:11 AM (GMT)
It starred a spainiard as the Ibn character and it was much like Braveheart.

2.5 hours? How fast can you read? !!

Beaver-Country-Canada - June 29, 2004 03:17 AM (GMT)
It's only a 3-400 page book, Popo. Hardcover it is, at least. And all my family are naturally fast readers -- I read the 4th HP (BIG one) in about 4.5 hours, and that's a 750 page book. Still, I think if I read it again, more will sink in -- the first read its pretty dull . Add to that the burning hot sun I was lying in, and you've got boredom at its best :P I'll read it inside this time :D

MrPopo - June 29, 2004 04:09 AM (GMT)
Superhuman much?

Beaver-Country-Canada - June 29, 2004 07:45 PM (GMT)
LOL! Now THAT is something I've never been called! :P

I'm not superhuman, I just like reading, so I do a lot of it. You rarely ever see me without a book unopened and half finished! Call it my escape from RL :D

MrPopo - June 29, 2004 08:38 PM (GMT)
My escape from RL is pretending to be prime minister of....Oops, sorry! Thats not me :D

*looks at chex* love ya babe!

The movie was called "The Thirteenth Warrior" and it starred Antonio Banderas.

Carbanousa - June 29, 2004 10:26 PM (GMT)
A cinematic masterpiece. -_-
