On September 11th, 2001, Paul McCartney was on a plane at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York City getting ready to take off for LA. The plane was then told to not take flight. Out his plane window he could see the World Trade Center be hit by two airplanes that were taken over by terrorists. Seeing this sight, Macca wrote the following song.
