Title: Pokemons Downfall?
Poke Master #202 - November 3, 2004 07:40 PM (GMT)
i would just like to know how it suddenly came "into fashion" and how it fell from grace so quickly after it was popular with EVERYONE for nearly 2 yrs? i mean, ive always partially attributed it to the fact that a large number of people jumped on the proverbial band wagon, and then got bored, but that cnat be the sole reason -can it?
poke_breeder - November 4, 2004 05:26 PM (GMT)
I think it is because some people said it was "uncool", so everyone else assumed that and stoped playing or got bored as you said.

yeah, but so many people were into it, how can a few "trend setters" manipulate the minds of people so easily?
poke_breeder - November 4, 2004 08:04 PM (GMT)
I would probably say that these "trend setters" were the most popular people around their area and everyone did what they did, or wanted to be like them, but then of course that is my opinion.

spose so..still seems a pretty losey reason to stop liking something tho.......

Yeah, if anyone says pokemon is a bad game to me, I just ignore them because that is there opinion and pokemon has always been a great game. :D

I never liked the show much. I wouldn't mind if that never returned. But more games, hell yeah!

The thing i always wanted to see in a new game was that you could accept challenges after your turned champ! a guy would walk up to you and say"theres a challeneger at the pokemon league, and you had to come, that would rock!

Well, during its peak, it was pretty cool to be associated with Pokemon. I guess it was just another fad. I guess as with many other popular fads, Pokemon had their fair share of haters. Even when the fad died down, many still dismiss Pokemon as thing of the past, and I guess more and more people no longer regarded Pokemon as in fashion and moved on to other fads. Of course, there are still true fans, although the numbers definitely aren't as many as they were when Pokemon was a fad.

Yep, thats true......god damn fadders!although, if they hadn't been there i probably wouldn't have gotten into it in the first place!!!!!!

I disagree, you cannot balme Pokemon's whoel popularity downfall on popular kids who deemed it uncool and so others followed behind.A pokemon collesuem producer said in NP that he realized most of the fans were getting older as time went on, which is why collesuem has more older characters than usual. I mean, they've even kept Ash looking the same when he too has grown past 11(or is it 12) years old. I think it's just something we all grow out of over time, for some us it takes longer than expected but we'll get there. But Pokemon has lost most of its original fans when they decided to keep living in the past.

I suppose so..but perhaps they were banking on new fans arriving as the old ones left, and if they made the characters age, then they would lose all those possible fans, what would be cool in the game is if you could choose your age, like 10-15, 15-20,20-40,40-50 and 60+ that would be so cool, to play as an old dude like those game master guys, or an old lady like agatha!

3 words: yu-gi-oh.
It killed pkmn and murdered the minds of a lot of people.
Plus, pkmn grew to be a little overrated.
The shows, I mean.
