Title: Shiny Pokemon Biologically explained
Description: What Shiny Pokemon is all about
TTYO - January 19, 2004 05:49 AM (GMT)
For people who are reading this please do not think according to the games
Shiny Pokemon are mutant freaks of their kind and their different coloring could mean two things:
Albinism
. It is a genetic disorder to causes an animal to fail to produce pigment. For Example, Noctowl is chocolate brown with a pinch of white and black. In an albino Noctowl , it will have white feathers :o and depending on the severity have red(severe) or blue(not so severe). The Severe ones will have eye problems.
Different variants
This will not affect the Pokemon itself in terms of health but it can
beneficial( The color can help to enhance their life better) or harmfull( see Last sentence). For example, Jaguars and Leopards have a black variant of their kind.
So Ash has caught an Albino not so severe Noctowl, it doesn't have eye problems
Shiny applies in Grass type but Albino plants cannot survive without chlorophyll unless you are a Shroomish--Breloom who eat dung, dead wood and scavenge on rotten meat like mushsrooms do...
Shiny Grass Pokemon have a different tone, shading or hue from their normal counterparts their chlorophyll is hidden within the different coloring.
Such Pokemon are rare because predators or plant-eaters can see them easily when they are young and devour them :P .

dear god.
all Shiny Pokemon are are Pokemon with better stats. thats all there is too it. you seriously over-analyze things.

Would make a great Professor Oak's article if it's longer.

ERRRT! Not necessarily. All shiny pokémon are are pokémon with more variable stats. They could be higher, but they could also be a lot lower.

Hey, where'd the picture go, Robby? :ph43r:

I got the inspiration to make the picture from making that post. In other words, the post came first ^^

I think that the explanation was good. Except maybe with Pokemon, the "albinism" is helpful and raises their abilities, and they are stronger. Instead of making them have problems.
Hm...... I learned all about this stuff in Science class. I was thinkin' the same thing, maybe shiny Pokemon are like that too.
2legendary4u - April 24, 2004 06:53 PM (GMT)
what i would like to have is a shiny legendary! *sighs* that would be cool! the only shiny pokemon i've ever caught was a shiny Zubat... pathetic...
LavenderAlana - April 24, 2004 11:44 PM (GMT)
I can't beleive people write these things... Pokemon is a game, stop trying to turn it into science class!
Moonlit_Angel - April 25, 2004 10:57 PM (GMT)
So? I like to turn it into more reality. I like my Pokemon that way. Hahahahaha. Random laughter.

this isnt reality though. this is idiocy.
Moonlit_Angel - April 26, 2004 03:17 AM (GMT)
Yes, sadly, I know. What he said didn't make sense, though, really. I don't mean TOO scientific. Science isn't my....erm, best...... subject, either. *Checks grade* STILL AN F!! Rrrrrr.......
But, still, it's gotta have some theory behind em'.
bunnygirl - April 26, 2004 03:22 AM (GMT)
there doesnt have to be an explanation for it, its quite obvious.
shiny Pokemon arent "albino" versions of their kind, but it is a good example. you could say a shiny Pokemon parallels albino animals in the real world. like TTYO said, albinism is " a genetic disorder to causes an animal to fail to produce pigment." in this case, its a genetic disorder that causes a Pokemon to produce unusual colors, as well as higher stats.
simple as that.
kurt - April 26, 2004 04:17 PM (GMT)
anybody seen the golden swablu on ruby?
bunnygirl - April 26, 2004 04:27 PM (GMT)
ive never had one myself but ive seen a picture of one online. i dont see what this has to do with anything though.
Groudon's Fury - April 27, 2004 05:06 AM (GMT)
hmmm, your hate for science is disturbing.
just think of it as if Pokemon were real. (laughs).
Now, where's the fanfic place? I have a nice Idea...
bunnygirl - April 27, 2004 03:49 PM (GMT)
and how in any way did i hint that i "hated" science? TTYO tried to be logical about this but he overanalyzed it completely. scroll up and look what i wrote. i wrote it pretty scientifically now didnt i.
since all animals of one species can vary in color, you have to assume that since all Pokemon of one species are one certain set of colors, a Pokemon of a different color must have some type of genetic disorder - just like a regular animal that is albino.
i seriously cant believe someone would mistake my explanation for shiny Pokemon (although i thought it was pretty obvious) for a statement saying that i hated science.
Latios 007 - April 27, 2004 08:08 PM (GMT)
I didn't think that you were implying that you hated science. I thought your post about the shiny pokemon was the most logical one in this thread.
Groudon's Fury - April 27, 2004 11:30 PM (GMT)
not you bunnygirl.
It was directed towards the one that said: "It makes me feel like science class, its boring" or something like that.
I love science, and you know what? My science teacher is an evil monster who's making me consider my choices...and believe me, I hate law, social sciences and that kind of stuff.
