Oak can't be because of his last name. and i don't see why it would be Drake... but did you ever notice that Ash and Giovonni have never seen eachother? *with the exception of the movie "Mewtwo Returns"* seems kind of fishy doesn't it? and in the second episode, Ash's mom states that his father will be proud of him, so he is still alive.

It's Norman, that way the programme would tie in with the games quite nicely.
Oh, and in that one with the Viridian Gym? They've seen each other there.

actually Giovanni had to leave for some urgent thing and he left Jessie, James, and Meowth in charge and he gave them some of his Pokemon to use in case of more trainers wanting a badge. and then Ash came in and Gary was on the florr and stuff and Ash woke Gary up and gary's all blah blah blah about some evil Pokemon that turns out to be Mewtwo, and then Team Rocket shows up and Ash battles them on these platforms set up to have the trainer feel all the pain that the Pokemon feels and yeah. and when Team Rocket is about to lose Meowth gets out this remote control to blow up the platform that Ash is on and then Gary's all,"Oh no you don't!" and he tackles Meowth and that's how it went.

Giovanni being Ash's dad would make sense. Ash's dad goes away on pokemon journey. Doesn't call, doesn't return. Decides to take over the world through a secret organization. FINAL EPISODE. Ash meets up with Giovanni, Giovanni asks Ash to fight by his side and they take over world together, Ash refuses and challenges his father to a duel.
