She knew he was bad for her – it had been ingrained in her since they had first met. Everyone had had something discouraging to say. It was hard to smile with quiet disapproval raining in on her from all sides.

It was Demeter who had been the most insistent, who had looked the most scared.

Scared enough to make her hesitate, just a little.

But he was a mystery so intriguing that she ignored the warnings, dismissed the stories. He had carefully built himself a legend, and surely not all of it could be true.

She was almost aware that she was just a pawn to him. But whenever she would start to realize, he would casually brush against her, or run his tail along hers...

She could never quite be sure of anything with him.

Through the chaotic emotions, what scared her the most was Bombalurina.

Unlike the rest of her tribe, she did not offer any warnings, she had no frightening stories to tell. All she ever had to say was, “Take care of yourself.”
