Author's Note: For the title, I was between "Surrender" and "Never, Never, Never, Surrender," which was on a poster I saw once in my East Asian History classroom. I decided to go with short and sweet XD

The room was dark and dank, a single window high above letting subtle rays of moonlight shine down into the room, offering a glimpse of the scene below.

A single feline, female, was crouched down in a corner, her arms raised high above her, chained to the wall by thick, heavy loops of metal. She would struggle occasionally against her metallic restraints, but it was hopeless: she was trapped here, as she had been for weeks.

She never should have trusted him. Never should have trusted he’d changed.

She was bleeding in various places, deep scratches from long claws bringing trickles of crimson to stain her body, becoming lost in fur that had been red since birth.

She heard the door creek open, and she looked up, abject fear in her eyes as her tall captor entered the room. All at once, he was upon her, one of his long, blood-marked claws trailing up her front to come to rest on her chin, forcing her to meet his wild gaze.

“Surrender yourself to me, Bombalurina,” he whispered through gritted fangs, his thick lips hovering above her earlobe.

The red queen struggled in his grasp as though trying to make herself disappear into the cold stone wall supporting her, wincing as his claw dug into her chin. With every bit of strength she had in her, she shook her head defiantly.

“Never.”
