A/N: This is a wierd one...
A sparrow flitted about in the treetops overhanging the junkyard, twittering a sweet melody to the skies. It swooped low down to the heart of the community, the song reaching a crescendo as it neared the level of the silent creatures lurking in the shadows.
A lone kit pranced into the open of the tribe, dancing a sweet romp to the cries of the sparrow, coaxing the small animal close, close enough to see it’s petite face, close enough to reach out to it, close enough to touch it, close enough to feel the soft breeze of its beating wings.
With a small squeal and a sudden jerk, the kit had the bird, and swallowed it whole, a silent melancholy pushing past the cheery bird song.
Baha, I enjoyed this! It was quirky, but very well-written.
Yes! Quirky was exactly what I was going for, though I couldn't quite find the word! Thanks!
