Title: A Little Bad News
Aural Vampire - December 20, 2008 09:14 PM (GMT)
This hopefully won't affect anyone else here, but I feel I should say something just in case.
So, little AV here had the misfortune to accidentally up-end a glass of water over her laptop last night.
The motherboard is fried and according to Geek Squad there is no hope of fixing it, and I have very little hope of ever retrieving the data from it.
What does this mean? All of my fics and artwork and stuff are gone, and unfortunately, so is all of the information I had regarding the Secret Santa. So participants, please make sure you keep track of all of the necessary info because I no longer have it! =(

Oh, bummer! Our computer took a bit of a crash last summer. First we lost internet, then slowly started to lose other programs, it really stunk. Then Geek Squad decided to take everything off the computer, then reboot it. Yeah, that didn't help, and they lost all of my documents due to incompatency with putting everything onto disks, nto to mention I lost about $10 worth of songs from itunes since I didn't have a chance to put them onto my ipod before we sent our computer to its doom. And, now, after about 10 hours of waiting for itunes to reload, it didn't work. So now, I can't put music onto my ipod, and it is virtually useless to me. Yeah, I don't like geek squad very much. Turns out, all we needed was a new modem. <_<

I haven't had any problems with Geek Squad... In fact the one time I had to take a PC there (I could not for the life of me figure out what was wrong with it, but Windows XP Service Pack 2 would not install), they said I was awesome. ^_^ That's because I completely documented what was going on and where the install was stopping - and I backed everything up myself onto an external harddrive. Saved myself the file backup fee and them the hassle of backing stuff up...
Though it turned out that not even they could figure out what was going on, so they just reformatted the pc and started over from scratch. Damn thing never has worked right. Can't say I'll be buying that brand of computer ever again, since my highly defective laptop was the same brand.

I've always been pretty pleased with Geek Squad myself. Though they did irk me a little with my last laptop because they didn't believe me when I said it was stuck shut. =/
I am absolutely in love with my new computer. :wub:
It's just a shame I had to fry my old one. ;_;

Yeah, they didn't believe me at first either, but I don't really blame them. I can't begin to imagine how many people come to them and "tell" them what is wrong with it, only to be completely wrong.

Yeah, I guess that's true. The guy who came to our house kind of wierded me out a bit...he looked and acted exactly like Mr. Bubbles from Lilo and Stitch. It was freaky.

It's my baby, and I love it.
<3 It's a Toshiba Qosmio, and it's ridiculously awesome, and I'm going to be paying it off for about the next four years, but it was
so worth it....
It's also shiny. >_>
It's got 320 gigs of space, 4 gigs of ram, 512mb dedicated video card... Runs Vista on 64 bit like a dream...
XD And in the off chance anyone cares to see where AV does her computer-y stuff:
