Title: Happy Halloween!

:ph43r:
So, anybody doing anything fun for Halloween? Dressing up, at least?
Eminems - October 31, 2008 07:01 PM (GMT)
Woo! Happy Halloween.
I'm not doing anything tonight, but my friend has her birthday on the 30th so we always do a fancy dress party. It's tomorrow night, and I'm going as an old fashioned gangster - complete with trench coat and fedora-esque hat. Although if I get really bored, I might get into my Alonzo costume to sit around the house. ^_^
Rubidia - October 31, 2008 07:11 PM (GMT)
Oh, gosh, costumes have been crazy this year! At first I was planning on being a character from Cats, but then I was planning on having a Halloween party with a Roaring 20's theme, so I was going to be a flapper, but then the party was canceled, and I was just going to dress up as a flapper, but then it was decided that that costume was too cold, so then I was planning on being a sheep named lobster, but then, thanks to my indecisive nature, changed my mind and decided to be the Hatbox Ghost from Disneyland's Haunted Mansion ride, and I somehow managed to scrape up a pretty awesome costume in the two days I had left before Halloween, so I'm pretty excited about this. *Inhales deeply*
Cassandra - October 31, 2008 08:37 PM (GMT)
I'm currently at work, in my costume. Shaming my mother (who is also my coworker), handing out candy, etc.
This is the first time in many years that I've had a costume that could even remotely be called "traditional"... I'm a witch. But the only things making it a witch costume are the broom and my awesome witch hat of awesome - and the fact that I'm wearing striped tights with it instead of harem pants. It's normally the Gypsy ensemble that I wear to the renfaire. ^_^
I really need to get a picture of the whole costume together one of these days... *sigh*
Aural Vampire - November 1, 2008 07:38 AM (GMT)
:o
My friends and I went out to eat, then mini golfing, then bowling, and then out to eat again.
All in some of our fabulous anime costumes, of course. =/ No one had working cameras though.
Rubidia - November 1, 2008 03:17 PM (GMT)
Oh, I'm exhausted! Let's see, last night, I went trick or treating with friends (I'll never get too old!), then went to a Halloween party, but I didn't know anyone there, so didn't stay long, and then I went over to my friend's and spent the night. There was quite a bit of candy sorting, and, to my immense pleasure, I found that I had two full size packages of Skittles. Very exciting. Much better than 'fun size'. I've never understood why mini's are called 'fun size'. Wouldn't it be more fun to have a full size candy bar? :)
Eminems - November 1, 2008 05:38 PM (GMT)
Agreed. I think the most fun you can have is the 1kg Dairy Milk bars. Not sure they even make them anymore, because of Britain's whole 'healthy eating' thing. They stopped selling fries and cans of soda in schools too.
RIP - November 1, 2008 07:29 PM (GMT)
Wow, that all sounds great. What anime characters were you, Aural Vampire? Not that I'd know them, probably...:S
I went to London to see Wednesday 13, one of my favourite bands, supported by rock LEGENDS Hanoi Rocks :D and, predictably, it was utterly fantastic. I went as in-drag Wednesday back in the Frankenstein Drag Queens days, pink wig, zombie makeup and all, and my friend went as a zombie bride.
I love halloween.

Yeah, I haven't seen those massive bars for ages. Grr. What annoys me is how it's almost impossible to find any soft drink that doesn't have 'diet' or 'light' or 'zero' tacked on the end. They don't taste the same! And they aren't really better for us, either. Plus, if I wanted something healthy, I wouldn't be drinking bloody Fanta, would I? *grumbles like senile old man* ^_^
Aural Vampire - November 1, 2008 07:39 PM (GMT)
I was actually a game character from an MMORPG that no one seems to actually play (Phantasy Star Universe). XD Most likely not something you would know, so it's easier just to class it in with "anime".
But my friends went as Euphemia li Britannia from Code Geass, Kamina from the Double K fan comic of Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann, and Maka Albarn from Soul Eater. One of my other friends dressed up as a random samurai (he had no costume when he came over to our house D: but he fit in one of my roommate's kimono, and we have plenty of katana, both real and fake, so it was easy to assemble him a samurai costume).
It amuses me to no end that the place we go mini-golfing has never seen us out of costume, because we always dress up to go there. It's a spiffy black-light mini-golf place, and I was very sad that my green wig is not black-light reactive.
:o Cassandra, you should post the awesome picture of your pumpkins and eggplant o'lantern here!
RIP - November 1, 2008 07:52 PM (GMT)
Yeah, pictures are good! Heh, the golf course people must think that you lot just stumble through some dimensional rip occasionally, from a strange, golf-obsessed parallel universe. A light-reactive wig would have been funny. Mine glowed like anything under the UV's, it was just darkness....and a massive pink glow eminating from my head. Very weird, hadn't been expecting that.
Cassandra - November 1, 2008 08:40 PM (GMT)
As you wish, AV...

Pumpkins! Silver, orange, and the eggplant >.>
And here are a couple of pics of my costume (as it was this summer... I wore different shoes yesterday and did not wear the bellydance stuffs):

Everyone else should feel free to post pics too, if you've got 'em. :D I love seeing everybody's costumes!
Rubidia - November 2, 2008 01:40 PM (GMT)
Much as I'd love to post a picture of my costume, my severe lack of a camera prevents me from doing so. <_< *grumbles*
Aural Vampire - November 2, 2008 02:38 PM (GMT)
<_< Well, if we're posting old pictures of the costumes we wore for Halloween...
I'm warning everyone now, if you are watching the Code Geass dub and it hasn't gotten to the end of Season One, there are
SPOILERS AHEAD. XD
So, here's a couple of pictures of me in my costume, because I love it to death and it's my favorite:

One of my friends as Double K Kamina (our Double K Kittan, while in this photo, lives about five or six hours from here and did not come join us for Halloween):

Another of my friends in her recently finished costume of Maka Albarn:

And my roommate wore her Euphemia li Britannia costume. EUPHINATOR:
RIP - November 2, 2008 02:40 PM (GMT)
Cassandra, I am so in love with your costume! It's made of beauty and wonderment. I keep staring at it trying to come up with words to describe its amazingness, and failing completely. The sleeves....the corset....the feather....the waistcoat....all of it....wow.
And AV, you look brilliant. I
want your wig, it's so pretty. And your friends all look great as well, I love the scythe! I don't really know the characters so I'm not really a good judge, but you all look pretty funk-tastic.
My friend's zombie bride dress, which was great fun to make and I think turned out rather well, looked like this-
-sorry for the crap quality, my camera sucks.
Together, we ended up looking like this

Her hair is real, mine is most definitely not.
Anyway, we had a great time. ^_^
Aural Vampire - November 2, 2008 02:44 PM (GMT)
Wow, that zombie dress looks awesome, RIP!
RIP - November 2, 2008 02:52 PM (GMT)
Thanks! It was really fun to do; it's not often you get to take a pretty wedding dress and, er...hack, slash, burn and fling fake blood to your heart's content. ^_^ And your costume really is amazing, did you make it all yourself?
Aural Vampire - November 2, 2008 03:00 PM (GMT)
Almost all of it, yeah. XD I bought the ears from another cosplayer, and my roommate/Euphinator made me the silver armguard as a birthday present (she's much better at making props than I am), but I made everything else.
RIP - November 2, 2008 03:06 PM (GMT)
Wow. You have mad sewing skillz. :D
Cassandra - November 2, 2008 03:12 PM (GMT)
RIP - It's my favorite costume. ^_^ At this point it is by far the one I've had the longest and worn the most. I've made some adjustments to it over the years (the blouse and hat are new this year, for example), but I loves it so much.
AV - Stop running into doorframes with your ears! :P

I made it all day at work without running into anything!
Rubidia - November 2, 2008 06:09 PM (GMT)
Okay, I had a picture to post, but then I realized I have no idea how to do that. Shoot. Help?
Aural Vampire - November 2, 2008 06:23 PM (GMT)
Do you have a site to host pictures at? If not, I recommend photobucket.com. Once you've got your picture uploaded somewhere, you use the img code, like this:
| CODE |
| |
Just put that code in the body of your post, and your image will show up.
Rubidia - November 2, 2008 07:05 PM (GMT)
Thanks AV! Well, this isn't actually me, and it isn't even a real costume, it's photoshopped, but I decided to post it anyways. I bring you my goat Jade, looking suspiciously like a lawn gnome. I know, I know, I need a hobby.

My apologies for the giantness of it. I did my best.
RIP - November 2, 2008 07:25 PM (GMT)
Hahaha. She looks strangely pleased with herself. I'm jealous that you have goats.

Indeed. Goats are awesome. ^_^
Rubidia - November 2, 2008 07:30 PM (GMT)
lol, she does seem rather smug. Must've been up to no good that day. But, goats do tend to be rather fun animals to have around. Unlike sheep, who are evil, and I loath. Except fictional sheep! Fictional sheep are hilarious. It's just real sheep who are evil. Unless there is a hilarious fictional sheep who happens to be behind a brainwash cult or something. Then they would be evil, too, but in a hilarious fictional sheep way.
Rubidia - November 2, 2008 07:32 PM (GMT)
They like to eat stuff. Except tin cans. They won't eat tin cans. Just the stuff inside tin cans. Once, my goat Lily drank my root beer. I was very upset.
RIP - November 2, 2008 08:43 PM (GMT)
I had a non-fictional ram once who chased my brother up a tree and kept him there for three hours, which was funny. I had a shetland who ate sausage rolls, too. That was just worrying.
Rubidia - November 2, 2008 08:56 PM (GMT)
Oh. Why was a ram chasing your brother up a tree? And where does a shetland get a sausage roll, anyways? :P
RIP - November 2, 2008 09:09 PM (GMT)
He was just a chase-y kind of ram that we had at the time, although he was cute as a lamb. And my brother ran, so he chased him, and he climbed a tree to get away, and Remus stayed at the bottom looking threatening for ages, and we stood well back and sniggered, and eventually went away and left him there.
And the sausage roll thing - my brother was just eating a hotdog and the pony grabbed it out of his hand and ate it, looking very pleased with himself.
Rubidia - November 2, 2008 09:22 PM (GMT)
lol, funny story! Ahhh, livestock can be so much fun! Until they headbutt you. That's not fun. Or when they think they're a lot smaller than they are. Then they try to climb into your lap, and cover you with hoofprints. lol...

I used to have a guinea pig who loved jalapeņo Doritos and sausage pizza. He was a little off in the head. XD
Rubidia - November 2, 2008 10:13 PM (GMT)
lol, pets are so entertaining!
Penguin - November 3, 2008 01:01 AM (GMT)
I didn't actually have a Halloween costume this year, but I can't resist the urge to butt in at the mention of livestock. XD
Anyone ever have to work with pigs? For my animal science class this year I trained and showed a barrow who I named Diglett...lazy bum. In the middle of the show ring, right in front of the judge and the crowd and my professor, he decides he's through with this and lays down. Right there. And expects a belly rub. -facepalm- I nearly had a panic attack, as the first thing the Swine Chair and Swine Herdsman had drilled into our heads was "DO NOT LET YOUR PIGS LAY DOWN DURING THE SHOW IT IS LIKE DEATH."
'Course, it probably doesn't help that half the time he's done this during practice in the past, I just kind of gave up and rubbed his belly anyway.
RIP - November 3, 2008 01:32 AM (GMT)
Hehehe. Diglett is such a sweet name for a pig :D And d'oh! What did you do? I suppose the judges didn't see the funny side.... but he sounds adorable. ^_^
We've had a few pigs over the years; we had one when I was little who thought she was a dog, used to follow my dad everywhere, to the pub, to work, the beach, even into the sea. (Contrary to popular opinion, pigs can swim.) She'd ride in the truck with the dogs, sleep with them, try and get up on our beds....she was great.
I like pigs.
Penguin - November 3, 2008 01:52 AM (GMT)
Heh, actually, the judge found it funnier than I did! XD I just kind of stood there going "Nonono, please getupgetupgetup!" as quietly as possible, tapping him on the hocks with my cane...and then this awesome old man came running out and started pushing Diglett around until he got up. He is adorable, though. :)
Haha, that's awesome! Pigs are so cute! Must've been pretty awesome to have a pig around all the time. How'd the dogs like that, though?
RIP - November 3, 2008 02:06 AM (GMT)
Hahaha, yay for awesome old men! Yeah, she was lovely. I don't know what the dogs thought, but they'd known her since she was a piglet so I suppose they just accepted her as an oddly-shaped, shorter-legged, bristly haired puppy. ^_^ The only problem was that she used to try and get in fights with dogs, too - lost an ear eventually.
Rubidia - November 3, 2008 02:43 AM (GMT)
Heh, I'm so excited I don't seem to be the only one on this forum whose life is like funny farm! Yes, I've got pigs, too. Show them in 4h, which occasionally works all right. My dad chose pigs as his hobby, though, and, well...to tell you the truth, it can get quite frightening at times. Breeds em and all. So strange how my life completely switched from the suburbs to the country. Weird. Well, one year, my pig decided it would be wonderfull to poop out a worm while we were jammed in the miniscule holding pen, where I was trying to avoid being smashed/eaten/urinated/pooped on while keeping up with this pig, along with staying away from the worm hanging out its butt. I have issues with worms. That was not a fun time. But, 2 years ago, I did get 3 first places. That rocked. Though, economy was bad that year, so I got a crappy price for them. Not so rockin. But, I will admit, it is fun to have tiny baby pigs around. Until they get big. And hungry. *shudders at the thought of Jerry, the big hairy boar who acted like he wanted to eat poor tiny little Rubidia* Though, I did get a trophy on my short story, which was very very extra awesome. Oh yeah, 4h can be fun.
