Title: Rugby
Description: does anyone in hear like it

Sadhbh - March 13, 2005 09:50 PM (GMT)
I love rugby but I don't really know any of my girl mates who do like it so the only person I tend to talk to about it is my dad. does anybody else in hear like it has anyone watched the six nations?

roisin - March 13, 2005 10:21 PM (GMT)
*raises hand quickly*

LOVE IT!
in BOD we trust!
i was gutted when france beat us yesterday, but i dont think ireland have played particulary well in any match so far in the 6 nations so they dont deserve it but it was still heartbreaking

i dont think anyones gonna stop wales now.

Sadhbh - March 13, 2005 10:25 PM (GMT)
I almost felt like crying yesterday we played so bad but we were so close in the end until the last French try by then you knew it was all over. I think we tyred oursleves out and we were missing D'Arcy badly. Hopefully we can still beat wales in the next match but I don't think we will as it is in Cardiff.

JCSam - March 15, 2005 06:17 PM (GMT)
I think rugby is great!!

I support England world cup holders :P though we have not had a lot to cheer this 6 nations!! I can always support Scotland tho...

I come from Leicester, definite rugby country, TIGERS RULE hahaha!! Seriously tho, we are pretty good, tho we did lose to Northampton a couple of weeks ago!!

I hope Ireland win against Wales - I don't really like Wales and my dad was born in Dublin so I have an excuse!

Oh yeah and I no the words to "Ireland's Call!"

roisin - March 15, 2005 09:04 PM (GMT)
mwhahahhaa im going to see the leicester-leinster match in a few weeks in dublin :D im from leinster so you're going down!!!!

No way!! Come on the Tigers!!

You are lucky going to see the match Roisin, if the Tigers get through I think they play Toulouse and then we might drive up to France to watch that :P

Have to wait and see....

roisin - March 16, 2005 08:13 PM (GMT)
but uz wont win so dont b making plans :P

JCSam - March 17, 2005 05:47 PM (GMT)
We'll see..... ;)

On the subject of Tigers though, isn't that injury that Matt Hampson suffered in training awful tho?? Apparently he is in a "critical but stable" condition :o I fell really sorry for him - away, training with the U-21s and then that happens........

I hope he recovers, but who knows to what extent?

Still, on a happier note...I no its not rugby but well done Newcastle last nite!

Sadhbh - March 19, 2005 05:52 PM (GMT)
I can't believe we lost in the end we started to play some really good rugby towards the end but the first 65 mins we didn't play good O'Gara played so bad. Me and my mam jumped for joy when humphreys came on.

juanqui.ferrero - March 19, 2005 06:00 PM (GMT)
*tut tut* France won !!! *tut tut*

Sadhbh - March 19, 2005 06:04 PM (GMT)
i know but wales still won the grand slam France weren't really playing tough aponents and Freddie Michilak missed a conversion towards the end.

roisin - March 19, 2005 06:10 PM (GMT)
yeah france had it well easy today.
well i sorta knew we wern't gonna win.
after al teh hype before the 6 nations started we failed to live up to any of it and i cant believe how crap we played most of the time. i think we're turning into england *shudder*

juanqui.ferrero - March 19, 2005 06:10 PM (GMT)
Frederic Michalak is just too hot !! Saw him once at my school when I was living in Toulouse (south of France)... ^_^

I shudder to think we might turn in to england.

roisin - March 19, 2005 06:36 PM (GMT)
i know. i mean this year they were so totally crap but i put that down to it being a trasitional period for them in that a few of their older influencial players like martion johnson retired and they're getting the new guns in {harry ellis one of them, who is damn fine!} and with a few of the irish players getting older and stuff like the forwards, hayes, corrigan and byrne, we just might be starting into that as well :(

Sadhbh - March 19, 2005 06:44 PM (GMT)
England havn't really been playing well since the world cup I hope we don't go as bad as england has done but england seem to be beating scotland at the mo.

JCSam - March 20, 2005 09:20 PM (GMT)
QUOTE (roisin @ Mar 20 2005, 04:36 AM)
harry ellis one of them, who is damn fine

You can say that again :P And he is from Leicester, an extra point in his favour! Never met him though, unfortunately - though I have met Martin Johnson!

Pity about Wales winning, I wanted Ireland on Saturday. Didn't get to see the match, small matter of my uncle's wedding to attend!! I got to see a bit of Englands match though, in between the lunch and the evening reception - I was watching it with my Scottish dad!

I was v pleased England won, and pleased for Harry Ellis, his 1st try 4 england but at least it wasn't too embarrassing for Scotland!!

JCSam - April 2, 2005 04:16 PM (GMT)
LEICESTER TIGERS!!!

The match is about to start - I am VERY nervous!! U r there aren't you Roisin?? obv u wont answer that now  i wish i could be there...

COME ON THE TIGERS

Enjoy seeing harry ellis roisin!!

JCSam - April 2, 2005 08:12 PM (GMT)
:D :hyper: Yay!! The Tigers won!! Toulouse in the semis here we come!! And its probably going to be held at Leicester City's stadium - haha "the home of football!"

Sorry Roisin, sadhbh, you were unlucky - I'm not going to gloat though!! I didn't think you played that badly, didn't see that much of O'Driscoll today

Lewis Moody was outstanding for us, Harry Ellis did pretty well too.... :P

Never mind hey...there's always next year....

roisin - April 2, 2005 09:06 PM (GMT)
in fairness, lewis was excellent today, leicester won the ball every time when they restarted it which ive never seen b4, cos 1 - horgan was shite and 2 - moody was class. ref was brutal tho, he sent our guy 2 the sinbin for obstruction and when martin johnson did exactly the same thing {andit was worse cos he did it to my brian} he didnt send him off for 10! he gave nothing our way, even the leicester fans beside us in the terrace agreed!! we just got no possession and horgan and dempsey were dreadful. i heart briano o driscoll so much. hes such a hottie!!! they were doing the warm up down our end and he was right beside and i nearly collasped with xcitement!! and then gordon d'arcy came out and me & my sister were going mad!! it was great, there was a group of about 10 scottish fellas beside us, going for leinster obv and whenever andy whatshishead was taking a kick for leicester they started shouting 'theres only 1 jonny wilkinson!'

so all in all its been a totally crap day for me....newcastle lost, had 3 fellas sent off, leinster lost, jc got nadal in the first round of valencia { :o } and the pope just died he was a dude.

the rugby was deadly craic tho, it was my first actual real, not my local rugby team playing, rugby match. the losing kinda dampened it at the end tho. but god i felt like hitting these ppl in front of me cos they started singing 'swing low sweet chariot'. we all started booing. obv. i mean, come on, u just dont sing that song when you're in ireland all off places. duh! we hate england enough already :P

JCSam - April 2, 2005 09:24 PM (GMT)

Yeah I no...i really thought that he was going to be sinbinned, he was v lucky to get away with it...However, I thought the ref did ok apart from that (which obv i was pleased with but i still no it was the wrong decision). I am not sure whether that Leinster try at the end should have been or not - Back seemed to have got in the way but u couldn't see well whether the ball was down properly or not.

haha...typical scots!!! I get that all the time from my dad, though scotland are pretty crap at the moment, he always switches and says he's Irish cos thats where he was born

I've never been to such a big rugby match as that...I have been to see Tigers play twice before, but never such a big match...I wish i cud have been there - will try and persuade my parents to let me go to the semi final, do u no when it is???

QUOTE

I could hear that on the TV, I also heard trumpets??? or something playing " Irelands call", me and my sister were joking that it was for Geordan Murphy - he is the man! Well he was b4 he broke his leg!

QUOTE
we hate england enough already :P
so long as u dont hate the people who are half english  :P

It's really sad news about the Pope - he was an amazing guy :(

yeah trumpets, drums everything! we sang irelands call and the fields of athenry too ;) all good. mostly we just shouted :P i specialised in the shouting of abuse. im quite good at it, whether its the ref, the opposition or their fans. :D awh geordan :( i heart him but he was the enemy today. we nice a nice view of his arse in the 2nd half :P

oh our try was totally not a try! we were in the terrace right behind that line where we scored and he did a double action, like he had the ball grounded and then moved it to over the line. im convinced we got it cos they felt sorry 4 us. and we were shouting at the ref {he was right beside us} to give us something

QUOTE

no dont worry, its mostly just the country itself and the really really really patriotic ones. come on, im irish, i have to hate the english!!

ive no idea when the semis are....im gutted we didnt win cos i wanted to go to another match!!!! rugby matches are so much fun to be at! leicester are playing toulouse now. gotta go 4 munster tomorrow altho i dont think they'll win either cos o'garas injured :(

lol! I do the same wheneva Im at a match, whether its football or rugby (cricket is a bit different :P), I;m always the 1 shouting at the top of my voice!! At Xmas I was trying to get my whole stand going at a Leicester City match, basically out of my whole block I was the only one chanting! i luv the atmosphere + the whole experience - obv tho its better than the team u r supporting win!

QUOTE
oh our try was totally not a try!

well neva mind - u did deserve 2 score 1, u played well enough 4 that - i wouldnt b saying that if we'd lost tho of course!!

QUOTE

Yeah, fair enough! My dad says the same....See I dont have that thing, I support Scotland and England (v unusual!) and if Ireland r playing ill want them to do well! I dont like the Welsh tho!! :P

well u never no, I mean Biarritz arent the best team left in the competition so Munster have still a good chance! However, we did manage to lose to them twice! Wasps beat them tho and they went out...I'll b supporting Munster tomorro!!

Sadhbh - April 3, 2005 08:34 AM (GMT)
I think muster should win tomorrow or other wise I will be really sad cause that would mean there is none of us left.

JCSam - April 6, 2005 04:39 PM (GMT)
Hey!!

Apparently Shane Jennings from Leinster is going to sign for the Tigers....

I suppose eventually he will replace Neil Back, assuming the move works out for him!

Not good for Leinster......

Hahaha *easily amused!* just saw the headline "Kidney set for Munster return " Made me laugh!!!

roisin - April 6, 2005 06:05 PM (GMT)
all i'll say is BOO TIGERS.

yes im still bitter :P

Sadhbh - April 6, 2005 06:53 PM (GMT)
It was a bit of a depressing weekend for Irish rugby.

JCSam - April 7, 2005 06:38 PM (GMT)
Well I forgive you for still being bitter Roisin, I would be I guess!! At least Ireland beat England though! I'm pleased it was this way around for me though!
I still hold grudges for stuff that happened *cough* 8 years ago so I understand!

Ok I'm not gonna gloat (btw i was supporting munster on sunday!) so who do you think should be on the lions tour???

I mean there are the obvious ones, like O'Driscoll, Corry, Robinson...But what about the sort of borderline guys?? Woodward has to pick 44 players!!

I think Chris Paterson should go, and Dallaglio, he IS only 32 even tho he no longer plays for England and I also think Harry Ellis should go and geordan murphy, wilkinson if he is fit, and ollie cmith (btw i am trying to be impartial, im not just picking tigers players for the sake of it!!!)

Vickery would be in i guess if they were sure he would be fit...

what do u guys think???? ;)

GO THE LIONS!!

Sadhbh - April 7, 2005 06:45 PM (GMT)
Vickery is a good player. Woodward has a tough job there are so many good players around at the mo.

roisin - April 7, 2005 06:59 PM (GMT)
well hes got 44 spots on the tour....

i think johnny o'connor should go. he and o'driscoll were the only players who really performed for ireland during the 6 nations. gordon d'arcy should go too....if hes fit. stephen jones too, and dwayne peel.

JCSam - April 11, 2005 03:16 PM (GMT)
Lions squad:

Backs: I Balshaw (England), G Murphy (Ireland), J Robinson (England), G Thomas (Wales), S Williams (Wales), J Lewsey (England), S Horgan (Ireland), D Hickie (Ireland), T Shanklin (Wales), B O'Driscoll (Ireland, capt), G Henson (Wales), O Smith (England), G D'Arcy (Ireland), W Greenwood (England), S Jones (Wales), R O'Gara (Ireland), C Hodgson (England), M Dawson (England), D Peel (Wales), G Cooper (Wales), C Cusiter (Scotland).

Forwards: G Rowntree (England), A Sheridan (England), M Stevens (England), G Jenkins (Wales), J White (England), J Hayes (Ireland), G Bulloch (Scotland), S Thompson (England), A Titterrell (England), S Byrne (Ireland), D Grewcock (England), B Kay (England), M O'Kelly (Ireland), D O'Callaghan (Ireland), P O'Connell (Ireland), M Owen (Wales), R Hill (England), N Back (England), M Williams (Wales), L Moody (England), S Taylor (Scotland), M Corry (England), L Dallaglio (England).

20 english, 11 irish, 10 welsh, 3 scots

No jonny - though he still could if he proves his fitness! And O'driscoll captain!!!!

I think it is fairly obvious though which players arent going to make the team...like Sheridan!

Sadhbh - April 11, 2005 03:52 PM (GMT)
you can't really imagin that many scots in the team.
O'Driscoll captain obviously the best player and nice to see D'Arcy in the team after his injury.

roisin - April 11, 2005 06:06 PM (GMT)
woo d'arcy got in! and BOD's captain! :hyper: well that was a bit obvious :D

i'm sad johnny o'connor didnt get in :( he was fantastic in the 6 nations

JCSam - April 24, 2005 05:01 PM (GMT)
I can't believe it!

Not only does JC lose, but Tigers do as well! I am sooo disappointed, especially from people like Johnno and Backy - their last chance at the Heineken Cup. We just have to concentrate on the league now.

I mean, fair enough, we were beaten by a better team today - we had chances and couldn't take them, whereas Toulouse took theirs.

What a bad afternoon!

JCSam - May 9, 2005 07:14 PM (GMT)
Jonny has been added to the lions tour!! :D I am very pleased about that, even though there are obviously worries about his fitness. A fully fit Wilko can only be useful to have!

And he doesnt have to worry about the captaincy since Brian O'Driscoll is capt (right decision IMO), so things are not looking too bad for the summer!

Sadhbh - May 9, 2005 08:41 PM (GMT)
Even though I don't want to Jonny will be a good asset to the side role on the summer.

JCSam - May 12, 2005 08:22 PM (GMT)
For you Roisin!!!

Harry in a suit! haha

user posted image

oh and btw tigers rule:hahaha

Martin Corry - Zurich premiership and PRU player of the year

Ollie Smith - Premiership "discovery of the year"

John Wells - Director of Rugby of the Year

and....

Harry Ellis - PRU Young player of the year!!

Ok...enough gloating sorry about that!, obv BOD could not have won these!! and this will all count for nothing if we don't beat Wasps!! Come on the Tigers!

JCSam - May 14, 2005 07:18 PM (GMT)
I am gutted - absolutely gutted. I feel so sorry for Johnno, Backy, John Wells, it was their last chance. And everyone else, Harry and Ollie....We have come so close this season but ended up with nothing.

Fair play to Wasps, they were the better team today, but I am sooo disappinted.

Sadhbh - May 14, 2005 07:49 PM (GMT)
I am sorry for you hope you do better next year just as long as you don't beat Leinster
