"NAVY NCIS" is the new action-packed fall drama starring MARK HARMON as a special agent for the Naval Criminal Investigative Service. Watch ET tonight as they go on the set of the hot CBS show!

The show inspired by the popular show "JAG" revolves around a team of special agents assigned to investigate any crime that has evidence linking it to the Navy or Marines. The team is made up mostly of civilians that work independently from the Navy -- answering only to the Secretary of the Navy.

Mark Harmon plays Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs. He leads the team as a highly-trained interrogator who is both clever and likely to forget all rules when he wants the job done. Harmon says he loved the script right away.

"Scripts either move you and you get through them or you stop at page 20 and say, 'No thanks, I'd rather not be a part of this,'" he says. "But this was a real page-turner, and I was excited about closing the last page of the script."

The cast also includes former "Dark Angel" cutie MICHAEL WEATHERLY, who plays Agent Anthony Dinozzo, a former homicide detective that has the instincts only a street cop would have. Weatherly says "NCIS" doesn't feel factory made like a lot of other television programs.

"What's really great is the way NCIS operatives have to work in the field by the seat of their pants. They're trying to figure stuff out in a country where they don't speak the language, they don't know what the behavior is ... but they have a mission and an ethical code that they adhere to as much as they can."

Rounding out the cast is SASHA ALEXANDER, PAULEY PERRETTE and DAVID McCALLUM.
