Title: Seeing Double?

Vincent Caldwell - September 21, 2005 08:09 PM (GMT)
Vincent sat at the small cafe as the sun was setting. He had had a small break from school and magically, so had Tobias. Vincent turned around to see a mirror image of himself walking towards him. Standing up, he smiled brighter than he had for a very long time.

Finally Toby! You take forever!
What do you expect when I took a muggle bus all the way from Leeds to meet you in London?

The boys embraced each other tightly. They hadn't seen each other in months and they thought they were going to die without the other. Apart, they were only half a person but together they made a whole. Both boys still thought it horribly cruel that they were taken away from each other and they had decided to meet in London to devise a plan in order to get kicked out of their respective schools. They were determined to either go to school with each other or simply not go to school. Of course, their plan wasn't the most clever in the world but what could they say? They couldn't live without each other.

Most wouldn't understand their reasoning. These two were best friends. Inseperable when together. Their parents never took the time to seperate them and make them be around other children thus even at seventeen years old, they still depended on each other.

Tobias then asked Vincent if he wanted a coke in the language that was all their own. Vincent nodded and Tobias went into the little cafe to make an order.

Alexandra DeSota - September 22, 2005 01:53 AM (GMT)
I should be working, I should be working. Alex, you know you should be working! The brunette in the café scolded herself mentally. She was in London to meet her husband for something to eat, she had been at work all day toiling over her case, but Robbie had persuaded her to meet him in London to have dinner. Where was he? She had to get back to work. Her hair was done in a loose French braid, and she was wearing a pair of black slacks, a pale green shirt and a black jacket over it

She was seated on a stool by the counter, looking over at the door ever so often for her husband, but so far there was no sight of him. She was getting anxious, she had a ton of things to do, to work out her strategy for when she met up with Miss Carlson; her would be star witness, if she could convince her that everything would be fine if she testified. She tapped her nails impatiently on the countertop. This was insane.

“Can I get you something beautiful?” a voice called. She looked around; the guy behind the counter was giving her a sweet smile. “What can I get you….gorgeous?” he asked again. Alex smiled flattered, “Just get me a mineral water for now,” she told him. The man looked at her for a few more seconds before going to get her drink.

He came back a few seconds later, “Here you go. So can I get you anything else?” he asked, to which Alex shook her head, “No I’m fine,” she replied. He leaned over the counter, “So I haven’t seen you in here before. What brings you here?” he asked making conversation. This man wasn’t actually hitting on her was he?

Vincent Caldwell - September 22, 2005 02:05 AM (GMT)
Toby walked up to the counter with a fleeting glance back at his brother still sitting outside. He stood behind a very pretty lady that he had never seen before. Shyly he smiled and nodded towards her than looked back at the man behind the counter.

Did you want anything else besides a drink? Tobias asked Vincent. Once again, he glanced back over his shoulder at Vincent. Anyone who had been watching Vincent would have noticed that he nodded to absolutely no one that they could see.

I suppose. Do we have enough money between us for dinner?

Tobias shrugged at the comment and fished in his pocket and brought out muggle money.

I'm not sure I have it all on me . . .

With that, Vincent stood up and went over to his brother who was now beside Alex. Vince fished in his pockets and brought out money as well.

I don't know muggle money . . .You'll have to count it . . . Vincent gestured for Tobias to hand him the money and set it out in front of them. To anyone it sounded as though Vincent were speaking in gibberish as he told how much money they had to Tobias.

Alexandra DeSota - September 22, 2005 02:32 AM (GMT)
“So what’s your name?” the guy asked Alex as she sat sipping her water, she almost chocked on her water. “Excuse me?” she asked, and he repeated his question. “What’s your name?” She looked at him blankly, still not sure what to make of the question. “Alexandra,” she said finally. “So…Alexandra do you have a last name?” he asked jokingly. She smiled politely. “Alexandra DeSota,” she responded and took another sip of her water. Why was he talking to her?

A short while later a young man, somewhere in his middle teens she would have guessed, came up to the counter beside her. He nodded towards her with a smile that seemed a little too familiar to her. She smiled back politely and gave him a small nod in reply. Well this was a strange evening. She looked past him out the door…still no Robbie. She looked at her watched; it was getting on almost half past seven.

She heard a strange mumbling beside her and she looked over at the young boy curiously. What was he saying and who was he speaking to? Alex could see no one. He wasn’t speaking English, but he wasn’t speaking any foreign language she had ever heard or recognised. A few seconds later her curiosity peeked again as the boy was joined by another, who spoke the same way he did and was his mirror image, his twin. Well at least she wasn’t bored while she waited.

“Hey beautiful,” she turned her head to look at the bartender. “These guys bugging you?” he asked. “No they aren’t,” she said curious as to why he would ask that. Perhaps they were bothering him? “So you were telling me why you’re in here,” he said.

Vincent Caldwell - September 22, 2005 02:47 AM (GMT)
((OOC: Alex, heads up. The boys have a telepathic link :P Blue=Vince Green=Toby))

The two carried on their conversation in their own little language. Vincent shook his head explaining the muggle money once again. Both boys looked up as the man asked if they were bothering Alex. The two were like a mirror image turning to look at Alex to see what she was going to say. To their relief, they weren't bugging her at all. Vincent smiled at her and went back to Tobias.

If you tell me what you want I'll order and give the money Vincent thought as he placed a hand on his brother's shoulder. Tobias nodded and turned back towards the menu. He chewed on his lip for a moment as Vincent picked at one of his nails.

Roast beef sandwhich and fries is good . . .

Vincent nodded and looked up at the menu for himself. Though he wanted the same thing there was no use of getting the same thing was there? Most likely, Vincent would give a half of his to his brother and Toby would do the same thing

Vincent waved at the man behind the counter to ask him to come over. The man reluctantly turned from Alex to the twins.

"What can I get you . . ." He stated quite blandly as though they were interupting his time with Alex.

"R-roast b-b-b-beef s-sandw-which with c-c-oke and . . ." Vincent began and with that, Tobias finished the sentence to end his brother's misery.

"A-and a t-t-turk-key c-club w-with cok-ke." Tobias took a deep breath and glanced towards his brother. Both were slightly red in the cheeks at their own embaressment. However, Tobias wasn't going to let Vincent look like the fool.

"Sp-speak c-c-c-c-clearly," Mocked the man behind the counter.

Both of the twins clamped their jaws and glanced at each other. This was something they had to go through on a day to day basis. . .

((Thanks Vincent for the heads up))

She smiled back at the boy who had walked in first, she had mentally noted his clothes, the curse of a lawyer, she noted everything in her head. She sipped her water again, and her fingers began to strum the counter again. Her attentions once more moved away from the boys and back to why she was there. She really needed to get back to work and she resolved that if Robbie didn’t show up in twenty minutes she would call him either call him or send him an owl to let him know she went back to work. There days Alex had two ways of communicating with her husband, by muggle phone and by trusted and faithful owl.

The guy behind the bar finally had to take his attention away from Alex and asked the boys what they wanted. What happened then would really agitate and annoy Alex. She watched as the boys made their order, it was simple enough except that they stammered quiet a bit, both of them. Wasn’t that odd that they should both have a speech impediment? Curious.

She looked at the guy annoyed. “Excuse me,” she told the boys as she watched the dispositions sour at his cruel mocking statement. She looked at him flatly, “They said they wanted a roast beef sandwich, a turkey club and two cokes, jerk,” she emphasised the ‘jerk’ part. “Understand that?” she said snidely. She couldn’t stand people who did things like that. What were they animals? It was cruel and insensitive. She hated people who picked on others.

“Hey, I was just kidding. I’m sorry okay,” he said with raised hands. “They didn’t take it seriously. Did you boys?” he said with a grin. He moved over to Alex, “Hey if it would make up for me being an idiot, how about I buy you dinner,” he added to Alex. She looked at him like he was insane. She had just called him a jerk for being an insensitive pig and he wanted to take her out. What was going on?

Vincent Caldwell - September 22, 2005 03:18 AM (GMT)
Vincent's eyes flickered between Alex and the man behind the counter. Had she? Really? Did she just take up for them? That was a rare occasion that anyone would do such a thing. Yet, then again, she was an adult wasn't she?

Tobias shook his head as the man asked that they knew he wasn't being serious. "N-not f-funny . . ." He stated simply with his eyes still narrowed at the man.

The two watched as the man then asked the woman out to dinner. Vincent snorted in disbelief at the man.

Is this guy for real?
Seems so . . . What an idiot . . .
You can say that again.

Vincent tapped Alex on her shoulder and nodded towards their table outside. "E-eat w-w-with us?" He asked curiously. It would help get her wawy from that stupid man behind the counter. Tobias nodded and gave Alex a smile.

Tobias tapped Vincent on the shoulder and asked him in their language if he thought she'd come. Vincent meerly shrugged to answer.

Alexandra DeSota - September 22, 2005 03:29 AM (GMT)
Alex cocked her head to a side slightly looking at the guy as he was given an answer by the two boys. “See, they didn’t think it was funny and neither did I,” she stated flatly. She gave a crocked smile as one of the boys scoffed at the guy’s offer of dinner. She looked back at him, “Exactly what I would say,” she replied flatly. She was leaving, she didn’t need to wait around and be badger by some moron behind a counter.

She felt a hand on her shoulder; it was one of the boys. She gave a polite smile. It couldn’t hurt now could it? “Sure, I’d like that,” she said with an equally polite smile. She looked at the guy behind the counter as she picked up her things, “Lead the way boys,” she said with a smile. “Oh by the way, I’m waiting for my husband,” she said, finally replying to the guy’s repeated question of why she was there.

She looked at them, “I won’t take too much of your time. I can’t stay long,” she told them. She was leaving soon to go back to work but she could probably spare fifteen minutes to grab something quickly with them, since it seemed as if Robbie wasn’t going to show, which worried her. He had never stood her up, ever.

Robert DeSota - September 23, 2005 02:51 AM (GMT)
Why did the Brazilian Ministry want to cause so many damn problems? The Relations office had already told them that the new species of a Kneazle/Ocelot cross they were trying to import to England and France. The Spanish had already approved it and the french were thinking about caving in. And to be honest, the fact they had sent one to his department this very day as a token wasn't improving thier chances of Robbies particular cooperation, though the others were impressed.

Robbie was just sick. Literaly.

And the fact they stuck it next to his office didn't help much. The entire day, his eyes bruend his throat itched his nose was alternetly runny and stuffy. He felt compleatly miserable. But he couldn't leave. Noo.. He couldn't leave. Instead he had to try to use the hand full of Portugeese words he knew, trying to explain to a chairmen of the Magical Game Control Committee of Brazil that ocelots were not common in Europe and were in fact only in zoos. Mainly that ment yelling and getting a very angry tone across...

But quitting time he had had enough.

Leaving as quickly as he could, already near half an hour late to meet with Allie at the time he told her, he tried to think of the quickest route. He had made his way there five minutes later, running along the streets and nearly getting run over by a double decker as he made his way across the street to the café.

Lookign around as he entered he saw her sitting with two young men, boys really, about sixteen or so it looked like. Rather quiet in apperance as well...Well... Of course they both looked like that. They both looked the same. They were twins, and identical twins at that. Genetic anomilies, clones. Cool.

Tilting his head for a second as he pondered he wasited no more time getting to her. "Sorry love." He said giving her a peck on the cheek. "Some blockhead from brasil didn't seem to understand the fact that ocelots are not native to Europe... Wanted to import some damn kneasle-ocelot mix..." And still by the looks of him one would realize he was run across something that didn't like him too much...

"Hello there." He said with a polite nod to each of the boys.

Alexandra DeSota - September 23, 2005 03:59 AM (GMT)
Alex was getting ready to go sit with the boys, there was nothing else for her to do, and Robbie was a no show which was very unlike him. If this was a first, him standing her up, then she wasn’t going to be happy about it. If he wasn’t coming then he should have told her and she would have gone right back to work. She had everything to get ready, she had left Maggie to do some of the paperwork while she was gone, but this was her case not Maggie’s, even though she was second chair on it.

She turned her head back for a second as she felt eyes on her; the bartender was looking her way. She looked back at the boys, just then who should appear but Robbie. She looked at him, only slightly annoyed at him being so late but he had a good explanation. He gave her a peck on the cheek and she looked at his face…something was wrong.

“Robbie did you go near that thing?” she asked looking at him. Her hand went to his face, he looked sick. Robbie was allergic to animals, very allergic. She looked at the boys for a second, concern on her face, “I’m sorry, this is my husband. I’m Alex,” she said introducing herself. She turned back to Robbie, “Darling did you go near it?” she repeated softly.

Robert DeSota - September 23, 2005 04:11 AM (GMT)
Did he go near it... Did she even have to ask? His eyes were still slightly red and wattery, his occasonal sniffles and nose rubbings from fresh air almost an hour after he got rid of the thing indicated he might as well have just jumped in a pit of them.

"I had no choice hun." He said irately. "The damn Committee Chairman sent one over as a gift. Through my Floo connection! You try remembering the Portugeese word for allergies." He grumbled as he sat down.

"Oh, I'm Robert by the way." He said bowing his head in introduction as he held out his hand. "Robbie actualy. And you two are?"

Alexandra DeSota - September 23, 2005 04:24 AM (GMT)
She looked at his face; she was going to be up with him all night. When Robbie got around animals it was horrible, but this wasn’t the worst she’d seen. His eyes were red slightly and watering and his nose was going as well. Tonight she would be using hot mineral salts to clear his nose if he was unlucky, and if his eyes got any worse he was going to be miserable. That was why they had no pets, Alex had no desire, as much as she loved pets, to have to go through that with Robbie everyday. Her cat Helix, that she had all through university was now living with her sister. Alex hated giving him up but she couldn’t possibly keep him with Robbie’s allergies. When they went to visit her sister, Mags always had a huge cleaning day before they came and let Helix stay at her neighbours till they left.

“Through the Floo?” she said surprised. “Are they insane?” she asked her agitation in her voice. She looked at him with a slightly fretful face but still trying to smile, she was no longer annoyed with him, “My poor baby,” she said. She hated seeing him sick, especially with his allergies; he turned into a pile of mush. She could remember when Helix had fallen asleep on her pillow one night they were visiting Mags…the cat had gotten in through the window. Robbie came to bed and in minutes his eyes were almost swollen shut, they were watering and he was wheezing. Alex was panicked. After that, they kept all the windows closed and mad the request that he be kept in his box when over by their neighbours.

Oh yes, she hadn’t caught the boys’ names. “That’s right, I didn’t get your names,” she said kindly coming back to the present. She was so busy being annoyed by the bartender and Robbie being late, that she hadn’t bothered to ask them that.

Vincent Caldwell - September 23, 2005 04:55 PM (GMT)
The two nodded at Robbie as he joined the little group of them. They watched as the two went back and forth talking to each other.

Ocelots . . . what's an ocelot? Tobias asked silently glancing at Vincent. Vincent bit his lip thinking about it for a moment. He then shrugged.

Maybe it's like a cat? You think? I mean he did say it was mixed with a kneazle . . .
And kneazles are like cats . . .or pretty close to it . . .

As soon as the boys made the connection between ocelots and cats, they heard Robbie ask for their names. As soon as Vincent opened his mouth to introduce them, Alex spoke up about something else. However, her little spiel was soon ended by asking their names.

They stared at the two like a deer stuck in headlights for a moment as the spot light was on them. . . and they hated the spot light.

Vincent pointed towards Toby and nodded his head, "T-tobias and . . ." Just as he was about to introduce himself, Tobias stepped up from behind his brother.

"V-vincent C-caldwell," Tobias finished as he pointed towards Vincent.

Alexandra DeSota - September 24, 2005 02:35 AM (GMT)
Alex watched the boys as she waited for an answer, and when they answered she found herself smiling. The boy Tobias introduced Vincent at the same time as Vincent introduced Tobias. “Hello, Tobias, Vincent,” she said nodding her head at them politely in greeting. The both stuttered and it was very sweet and they were attuned with each other.

Alex looked at her watch, the time was getting along and she needed to get something to eat and get out and back to work. She took a seat at their table and picked up a menu to see what she wanted. She might as well get this going there was a lot she had to do at the office and leaving it all to Maggie was unfair.

“Robbie,” she said with a smile and touched his hand. She leaned closer to him, “I can’t stay too long I need to get back,” she informed him, knowing he wouldn’t like it very much. She had been there for a while waiting, and circumstance had worked against both of them to prevent them having the time together that they both wanted.

Robert DeSota - September 26, 2005 02:24 PM (GMT)
"Toby, Vince, nice to meet you two." He said with a nod and a smile to them. So he was more of a short name guy. Two syllables max really. He hoped they wouldn't mind. But he had a feeling that even if they did they probably wouldn't say. They seemed to know exactly what they were doing with eachother, but with other people...

He turned his head over towards Alex as she said she was going to have to leave soon. "Ah, come on Allie. Everyone else takes two hour lunches. How do I know, One of your fellow associates was over at the ministry hanging out with one of the other guys in my department just the other day for two hours on 'lunch'." He pointed out.

"Some scrawny guy with really short hair and a bad taste in suits. Was wearing a royal purple jacket and pants with like an alligator green shirt and black tie." He grinned.

Vincent Caldwell - September 26, 2005 04:04 PM (GMT)
The two just nodded to Robbie. Honestly, they didn't mind too much on nicknames. As long as no one called Vincent Vinny everything would be alright.

"B-be c-company . . ." Vincent told her as he sat down. Tobias then took the seat opposite of Alex beside his brother.

"You h-have t-to eat . . ." Tobias continued. Fifteen to thirty minutes honestly wasn't enough to eat a meal in. After all, digestion goes along with the meal. It wouldn't be very fun to have a angry gurggling stomach while trying to work would it.

Tobias glared up at the man as he brought their food out to their table. With one look at Robbie, he scurried back towards his post behind the counter.

That guy's an idiot . .. Vincent thought. Tobias nodded as he picked up his sandwhich and took a bite. The two switched off the halves of their sandwhich that they weren't eating to the other.

Vincent cocked his head to the side as Robbie mentioned a man wearing colours that really didn't go together. What, did he think he was Barney?

Alexandra DeSota - September 26, 2005 04:11 PM (GMT)
Robbie greeted the boys in typical Robbie fashion; he shortened their names to something more manageable and friendly, because that was just how Robbie was. While Alex took time before she was comfortable enough to shorten your name; she personally had hated being called Alexandra all the time, the only people she let her call her otherwise was her sister, that is until Robbie came along and started calling her ‘Alex’ and then “Allie.’ She liked Allie, and he was the only one who could call her that.

“Well I’m not everyone and you know I have things that I have to do,” she emphasized. When he brought up her colleague who had been in the Ministry on a two-hour lunch, Alex rolled her eyed. “Richard,” she said exasperated. The man annoyed Alex to know end. He got the job done in the end, because someone else did all the prep work on it to allow him those “two-hour” lunches.

Richard was also not one of Alex’s favourite people because he constantly hit on her, it didn’t seem to bother him that she was married, and happily so. His comment on how good her legs looked in that skirt, or how heavenly she smelt, only made her want to slap him, but of course she never did.

“Honey trust me, it’s better that he has two-hour lunches,” Alex commented. Cause if he was at lunch he wasn’t bothering her.

Robert DeSota - September 28, 2005 07:53 PM (GMT)
--I was trying NOT to mention the name thank you LoL --

"Oh, is that so...?" He murmured, getting a glimps into her thoughts quickly. He would have words with this man, more if it continued. He of course didn't mind people being polite to her, but there was somethign called respect.

"Anyway, how have you been feeling hun? You probably should eat something you know. It's hard to get better if you don't have anything to give your body energy." He pointed out.

"Anyway, have you guys already ordered food?" He asked standing from his chair. "Or is there anything I can get for you two. And of course you my sweet." He said giving Alex a quick kiss on the cheek.

Alexandra DeSota - September 29, 2005 01:16 AM (GMT)
Alex looked at Robbie as he asked her if what she was saying was so. Was that angel of a husband reading her thoughts? If so he might not like what she was thinking. Richard was a pain, yes, a huge one but Alex never came to Robbie with that minor annoyance at work. Richard would eventually learn that Alex was not and would never be interested in him, she had eyes for only one man and that happened to be the one she slept next to every night, the one seated next to her now.

She smiled with a small sigh as her darling husband enquired after her. “I’m okay today, just tired a little,” she admitted and rather hungry too, which was a surprise since Alex wasn’t much of an eater lately. “Okay, I will eat,” she said with a laugh. He took such good care of her. Since the incident at home she had been avoiding talk of her being sick and all the late and long hours. However now that they were out and together, she couldn’t do that and would simply do as he asked, there was hardly ever a reason to argue with Robbie.

Robbie stood and prepared to order food for the boys and herself. He leaned and gave her a kiss on the cheek which she returned. “Get me anything sweetie,” she said with a smile.
