Title: Detentions
Description: Anyone Interested?
Prof. Arkday Ordlay - September 4, 2005 08:01 PM (GMT)
Okay, so I'm kind of stepping into Snape's shoes at the moment being a typically stern potions master. We already know about the rping faux-ness of house points (no one adds them up so profs can pretty much throw them around anywhere) but what about punishments?
I was thinking, if people would be willing, that some characters would certainly get themselves detention and at the moment -unless they set up their own thread- wont have that... umm.. luxury? Lol!
I think we rp'ed a groupy detention awhile ago but it didnt quite work out. However, I'd be happy to set up a non-lesson thread in the potions room for any would-be detentionee's.
Suggestions, comments - please give me feedback!

Well, would it be like in the books? Or just would you chuck all the troublemakers in one room and leave 'em to rot?
Miss Kai Yimin - September 4, 2005 08:07 PM (GMT)
Sounds good! ^^ Like on EM they have detentions, but yes sounds very good. ^_^ I'm sure Bree wouldnt have a problem, and I am always looking out for students that can help clean my grotty Hospital wing! ^_~

I think it'd make the role-play a bit more realistic if there were detentions. Just as long as they aren't given out for little things like being in a certain house, or having blue eyes or something.
You might want other opinions, mostly because I don't think I was there for the past detention you mentioned, thus I don't know what other's thoughts on that are.

Oh, most certainly like the books! In fact, I'm sure (if this idea were an all-lesson one) the other professors would have fun using their imagination for finding mindless repetitve tasks for you to spend an hour or so doing.
You know, labelling old potions ingredients, tallying up measurements of powders, sorting the never ending stock pile of books etc etc.. heh heh, I'm off already lol
EDIT to answer acacia: no, i wasnt thinking of it on those sort of grounds. more realistic, like for mouthing off in a lesson or -merlin forbid- blowing up the potions room yadda yadda yadda.

Haha yeah, sounds great! ^^ Yeah, you would have to give one for a reason. Or would you only have to attend the detention if you were given it? Because you could just RP that you have got a detion when infact you havent. O_o

It would only be open to those students who agreed to it - like a prof could pm a student they think is acting up in-character - students would still be able to 'pretend' (ie mention they had detention) without actually being forced to go through with one.
I think it would open up another part to the lesson side of hpu as it seems to be getting less and less used. would certainly be a fresh and -as acacia said- realistic area to rp with.
i mean, come on, who here hasnt ever had detetion in rl?!
Miss Kai Yimin - September 4, 2005 08:20 PM (GMT)
I cant say I havent had one! ^^ lol You Arky? ^.^
But yeah sounds like a really good idea, and you would be the best person to do it really! ^^ Potions Prof doing detentions ^_~
See what Bree thinks,

I have actually never had detention... I'm a goody two shoes... lol.. but I do agree that Detention would be a good aspect of this.
Arche Rodahl - September 5, 2005 02:17 AM (GMT)
I've never gotten a detention.
I've come close, and may have pushed a teacher or two over the brink at one point.
But never dentention.

:snort: I got detention once in sixth for connecting the gas jet and the sink together with a rubber hose... ah, the good ole days. Detention would be wonderful, and likewise a good place for plotting, getting in further trouble, more plotting, and all that good stuff we all do on a daily basis. Sign me up. Hehehe.
Acacia Callisto - September 5, 2005 02:43 PM (GMT)
I remember that Cyn! :bleh:
I've never had detention either, but it would be a good experience before hand mostly because I see one in the future for being late. (High school equals new school, which also equals I don't know where I'm going half the time.)
Hopefully this all works out.
Miss Kai Yimin - September 5, 2005 03:13 PM (GMT)
Oh belive me, I have had a few detentions ... lol ^^ Arky knows ^_~
Dracona N. Illinean - September 5, 2005 03:49 PM (GMT)
Wow, I feel so pathetic. I think I've had three detentions in my school life, twice for not doing my homework, and once as a group detention with the whole grade because someone who didn't even do the detention was chewing gum and dropped it on the carpet. Whenever I actually do something bad, I go crazy and end up having detention with the school psycoquack and they don't put it in my folderr becuase they decide I'm just crazy or something.
Hehheh, but anyway, I'd love to give Dracona detention... Have a few ideas for this year in particular...

Sure, I think detention would be sorta fun to RP.
Prof. Arkday Ordlay - September 8, 2005 08:41 PM (GMT)
Okay, here's the lowdown. I will shortly be opening up the first detention in the Dungeons. I've realised though, that detentions are not only lead by the professor to have given them so... pm me and I shall make sure to expect you in this first detention. If you would like to complete this little form, it will give me more to go on when I rp:
Name:
House:
Reason for Detention: (ie. Which lesson did you get your detention in, and for why?)
Be realistic. No "I threatened the professor" or any other MS crap. Forget your homework, maybe answer out of turn (even Hermione has!) or something.
Otherwise, see you soon in the murky Dungeons! HAhahaha
