Title: New Quarter Clothing
Artimiss Rose - September 3, 2005 05:40 AM (GMT)
Artimiss finally broke down. It had been a while since she had felt the need to buy some new clothing for school. But it was different this term. She had been made a prefect. She wouldn't allow herself to waste away and look like a 3rd Class citezen and demand respect from other students at the same time.
Arti lowered her head and pushed the shop door open, which rang a little bell. Madam Malkin's was extreamly empty. Artimiss didn't know if Madam Malkin herself was even in the shop. "Well someone has to be here, the door was unlocked..." She said outloud to herself.
As she walked around room, her eyes fell on upon a beautiful emerald green gown. She smiled to herself as she picked it up and held it infront of her, facing a mirror to examine herself. She heard the bell on the door ring. Looking around she placed the dress back on the rack, she wanted to see who had just entered.

Walking into Madame Malkin's shop was a bit unnerving for Amatae. She couldn't explain why, but her nerves seemed to dance under her skin. She jumped at the sound that the bell made as it clanged hard against the shop's door.
A girl was standing off to the side, admiring a beautiful emerald green set of robes. Fleetingly, she thought that the girl should buy them since they looked like they were made especially for her.
Looking over at the other girl, she raides her hand, and quietly mouthed the words hello. She wasn't sure if the girl had heard her or not. But she kept walking, glancing around for her perfect set of robes. Amatae's eyes darted along the walls, and on the stands filled with robes that seemed to be dipped in the color spectrum itself.
Her eyes finally fell upon a set of icy midnight blue robes. They seemed to glimmer and dance in the dim light of the shop. Grabbing a sleeve, she narrowed her eyes and inspected the material more closely. It had silver threads running throughout it. Not believing she found something so beautiful, she tried it on. PERFECT fit. She was doubly astounded. Taking it off, she grabbed it and her things and went over to the girl looking at the green robes. "That is quite beautiful isn't it?"

[OOC]Sorry it took so long for me to get back, it was Rodeo weekend.
[BIC]"Yeah I love it." Arti smiled to the lady. She had never seen this woman before, but she could tell she was from Hogwarts. She had watched the woman examine the blue dress. "The dress you had was great as well." It had fit her perfectly. I wonder if she is going to wear it to the ball this year? Which reminds me, I could get this dress for the ball..... No.... It is to early for that.... She thought to herself as she examined the girl.
Artimiss could hear Madam Malkin in the back fumbling through whatever was back there. Arti did have an appointment to be fitter, and she would be rather upset if she were in the store alone, but now she had company and did not really care about the time, she had no where else to be.
"Oh, my name is Artimiss Rose, 6th Year Prefect for Ravenclaw." She said extending her hand to the woman, who Artimiss was now assuming was actually a professor at her school. She felt dumb for not know the professor, but she must have not taken her class right?

Smiling, her Amber eyes twinkled. "Actually I wasa professor, but it didn't really work out." A wistful look passed over her gentle features, but was gone just as quickly. "But thank you. we all have our colors don't we?" She was feeling a little awkward, as the topic of her former teaching always did.
"Congratulations on being prefect. I had always wanted to be. Such a respectable position." Her gaze fell back to Artimiss Rose. "That is such a beautiful name. Were you named after a grandmother or someone else in your family you were close to?" She was hoping she didn't sound like an idiot. Whenever she met someone for the first time, she went through this bumpy introduction. But it always smoothed out somehow.

[OOC]Your profile needs to be updated then! That is where I got all of your info on the professor thing! LOL[BIC]
Artimiss smiled she loved her name. "When I was first born my name was Anne-Marie, after my grandmother. But she protested until I was about one and a half. One day I was finger painting, and she walked up and said 'Well aren't you just an arty little miss!' Then that was it, she started calling me Artimiss, and my parents fell in love with it, so it stuck. They legally changed my name and everything."
Arti smiled. She hated to talk about herself, but she loved her name. It had a lot of meaning behind it to her. "I am sorry, but I don't think I caught your name."
Madam Malkins walked out into the front of the store and pushed Arti up infront of the mirrors. She began to take measuments and mumble to herself. Artimiss looked back over her shoulder at the woman.

[OOC]I need to figure out how to do that *sheepish grin*[OOC]
[BIC]"That is a lovely story. Very pleasant. Something to be very proud of." Amatae could sense that the girl was feeling a bit awkward about discussing her family history. Her body language somewhat showed this, as did the expression on her face.
"Really, it's not something to worry about. It's something to be proud of. Names are chosen for a vast number of reasons, not all with the meaning yours does." Amatae's expression drew into a comforting smile.
At that moment, she was interupted by the busy shopkeeper Madame Malkin. She appeared as though her shop were jam packed, and she had to hurry and attend to each patron as swiftly as possible. She stood there watching Madame Malkin work with effortless grace. Her own thoughts spinning and wondering what sort of things she could do with equal grace elequence.

Artimiss smiled. Her name was something to be proud of, but she had never really thought of it until now. At least not to this degree. Madim Malkins was measuring like mad. Draping cloth over Arti and pinning it in weird spots.
Artimiss turned back over her shoulder to look at Amatae, "I hate clothes. I wish we could all run around naked all day." She smiled and gave a little laugh. Madam Malkins must of heard the comment, because she made a god awefull face, then stuck Arti with a pin.
The pin made Arti jump, then laugh a bit more. "So what brought you in today?" Artimiss asked Amatae.

Trying horribly to keep a straight face, she looked up at the girl standing on a stool and said, "You really have got to be careful what you say around some people." Discreetly pointing to Madame Malkin. She watched as the apparently offended witch poked Artimiss.
"What brings me here? Well apparently my mom and dad seem to think I have grown sufficiently to warrant new robes." She almost felt mechanical in her response. As though she were reciting her parents word for word. But at least I get to choose what color they look like." At this thought she grinned.
As Artimiss was getting poked, her eyes wandered around the cluttered little shop, in hopes of finding a set or two of robes.
