Alanna walked into Honeydukes and breathed in the yummy smell of different tyes of candy. "Yummmy" she said, enjoying looking at the bright jars of candy. "What kind shall I buy?" Feeling silly for talking to herself she giggled and smiled from ear to ear.

Walking down each aisle, she grabbed a bag, and started putting jelly belly beans into it. Looking at the different jars, she took some Mike and Ikes and put some in the same bag. Noticing a yummy change in smell she walked towards the bubble gum and took three peices.

Jenny inhaled deeply as she entered Honeydukes. She loved the smell of fresh candy. Wasting no time, she headed directly for the chocolate section and grabbed a handful of chocolate frog packages. She looked about for a second, and then went over to the lollipop display and took a few of the enchanted ones that changed flavour as you licked. As usual, she also grabbed a package of Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans. She thought she would just wander about a little, and try something new. So she headed down an aisle she did't usually visit. She wandered down the aisle, and stopped half way, having just seen a particularly interesting glowing mushroom(the label claimed it was edible). She sniffed it, made a face, and put it back on the shelf. There was a girl in front of her taking something from a bin, which looked rather interesting. "Excuse me, what's that you're taking?" She asked curiously, peering around the girl. There was a bunch of multi-colored rectangles in the bin, which were about the half the size of Jenny's pinky finger. They didn't look too interesting, but perhaps they tasted good. Jenny continued examining them as she awaited an answer.

Alanna jumped at the sound of another girls' voice. "Oh! Sorry you surprised me. They're called Mike and Ikes...they're really good."

"Hi, I'm Alanna." She said, introducing herself. "I'm a Gryffindor Fifth year. I think I've seen you in the common room before...Jenny is it?" She questioned. Moving over to the other side of the aisle, where the Chocolate frogs were, Alanna grabbed a couple. Noticing a new type of candy a couple of feet away from her, she moved closer to investigate. Hummm....these look delicious! Giggling she took two of the flat rectangular candy. Breathing in the delicious smells, Alanna walked back to where the other Gryffindor was standing.

"Hmm, Mike and Ikes, I've never heard of them. Well I guess I'll help myself to a few."
Jenny was truthfully more interested in the bucket of wriggling gummy worms, but she felt sort of obligated to take some of the Mike and Ikes, because she had asked Alanna about them and felt it would be rude not to take some now.
She took a brown paper bag off the shelf and scooped some of the Mike and Ikes into it, not exactly taking a tiny amount, but not very much either.
She smiled at Alanna.
"Yeah, i'ts Jenny." She replied, walking over to the bucket of gummy worms and pulling a few of the squirmy candies out. She held them up at a distance. They looked extraordinarily real. Pleased with her find, Jenny took a new bag for the worms, and piled about five of them into the bag.
She now had more than enough treats, and steered herself in the direction of the till, determined not to take anything more.
"So," she said over her shoulder as she placed her candies on the counter before the cashier, "How is it that we've never been introduced before, and we're both fifth years in Gryffindor?" She pulled out a bag of money and emptied it onto the table. 'Oh no.'
The cashier had just informed her how much she owed, and she was 3 galleons short. How embarrasing. Hoping that Alanna didn't notice, she quietly shoved the Mike and Ikes and the chocolate frogs to the side. She'd try them another time when she had more money with her.

"You don't HAVE to take those Jenny, it's ok, really." Alanna said to the other Gryffindor.

"Yeah it so weird how theres so many people I still havn't met here. Its such a big school." She said.

Taking a couple of bubblegum balls, Alanna inhaled again, breathing in the delisious smells. "So you come here often?" She asked. "I just love to go shopping around here, all the differint people." Walking up to the counter, she payed what she owed. Three gallions, and five knuts the cashier told her. "Thanks." Alanna said. She asked, "Do you want to go somewhere else?"

Jenny smiled bashfully when Alanna noticed that she wasn't taking the Mark and Ilkes or whatever they were called.
"Yeah I come here every time we get to come to Hogsmeade."
She answered, taking her (rather large) bag of candy and strolling out the door. She paused only briefly at the exit as she waited for Alanna to finish paying.
Strolling over to a bench, Jenny sat down on it and began digging through her bag. After some rummaging, she produced one of the multi-flavoured lollipops and proceeded to peel off the wrapper.
"I wasn't really planning to go anywhere. Did you have some place in mind?" She asked, before popping the candy into her mouth. She surveyed Alanna silently while she awaited an answer. It seemed that there was a sudden abundance of red heads around. First Rose, then Astina, now Alanna.

"No, not really, but I was thinking of getting a butterbeer before I bumped into you." Alanna replyed.

Digging through her bag of candy, Alanna found what she had been looking for. Her favorite candy, Mike and Ikes. Grabbing a couple of peices and putting them in her mouth, she savored the candy she was longing for. She hadn't had Mike and Ikes for at least a year. Mmmmm. She thought while sucking on the candy. Sitting next to Jenny, she turned to face her. "Where would you like to go? If you want to go anywhere that is...." Laughing Alanna shuffled through her bag again, finding a sucker. Unwrapping the candy, she stuck it in her mouth.

Jenny considered her options. There was always the problem that she had used up the last of her money in Honeydukes, but Alanna didn't know that, and she wasn't planning on telling her. Yes, okay, Jenny was a bit proud, but she couldn't very well help it, it was in her blood. She contemplated the butterbeer option, and how to dismiss it without showing that she didn't have any money.
"Well, I'm not really that thirsty, but I'd be fine with coming along if you want to get one." Jenny was satisfied with the answer she had come up with. She hadn't lied, because she really wasn't thirsty, and she had gotten around the problem. Suddenly the lollipop she was sucking on changed flavour, and she felt the strange sensation that she was licking a bunch of grapes. She pulled the candy out of her mouth, to discover that it looked exactly the same as it had before. It was still perfectly round, only slightly smaller. Slowly, she brought the lollipop back up to her mouth. Once again, it felt as though the candy was transforming into grapes inside her mouth. To one who had not grown up in the wizarding world, this may seem wonderfully new, but to Jenny, it was only mildly interesting. She continued sucking her candy while she waited for Alanna's answer.

"Okay, I could pay though, I just got birthday money, thats why I'm here shopping. I need so many new robes and clothes and stuff, like candy." Laughing Alanna looked to Jenny, "What would you like to do then? If you need to go somewhere, go ahead, I have places to go too. Don't think you have to stay."

"Hey, are you animagus?" She asked suddenly. "I'm a bobcat. I don't know many other people who are animagus. Strange though." Looking down at her watch, she noted that it was four fifteen, she had to be back at Hogwarts by five thirty. So she had lots of time to talk to Jenny.

Jenny blushed a little. It appeared as though Alanna had read through her excuse of not being thirsty. But, the fact remained that Jenny really wasn't thirsty, so again she declined. "No thanks, but I'd be happy to come along with you if you'd like." Alanna then asked whether Jenny was an animagus. Astonished, Jenny shook her head. She had never met an animagus. "I didn't realize that you were allowed to be one at this age. That's awesome though, I never met an animagus before. Do you know any other ones?" Jenny finished off the last of her sucker and threw the stick into a near by trash can. Then she stood up and stretched, ready to move on.
