Title: Renee Bercutio
Description: Character Description

Renee Bercutio - August 5, 2005 12:14 PM (GMT)
Character Name: Renee Danielle Bercutio
Blood Type: Muggle born
Gender: Female
Age/Year: 14/ Year Four
Family Information: Renee's family is thoroughly non-magical. Both of her parents are muggles. She grew up in a non-magical neighborhood in Wales with her parents and little sister.

Her father, Michel Bercutio, has very thick French roots. He grew up in the French countryside with his parents and two siblings. He went to college in London, as he wanted to improve his English so that he could one day go into international business. Today, he owns his own European international insurance company. He works closely with Ireland, the UK, France, and Belgium.

Renee's mum, Janet Lolland-Bercutio, grew up in London. She went to college at the University where she met Michel. Soon after graduation, they were married. She is currently a home-maker. But now with Renee off at school, she busies herself with charity and other associations.

Elisabeth, or Lissie, is Renee's little sister. She's currently ten years old, soon to turn eleven. Everyone is wondering if she'll be a witch as well. She has been showing signs of having witch blood every since Renee was accepted four years ago.

Hometown: Bristol, Wales- Renee grew up there. She has friends there. She went to school there. The only move the Bercutio's have made in fourteen years is across town to a larger house ten years ago, when Lissie was born. Their current house is a two-story house, four bedrooms, plus an attic apartment, which includes a bedroom and a kitchenette. Renee plans to move in when she graduates, paying rent every month to her parents, until she can find a place of her own.
Wand: 13 inches, Dragon heartstring, birch. Good for Defensive spells.
Pet(s): A little kitten by the name of Bella, short for the Italian word bellazinnie (pretty sure that's the speling), which means beauty. She's a little calico kitten, with an orange and creamy brown back, white belly, and a brown and cream tannish colored face. She about seven weeks now. Bella was a birthday present for Renee.
Broom: Cleansweep 7.5- the new wave in the Cleansweep nation.

Physical Description: Renee inherits each part of her from a different person in her family. There's only one part of her that's unique, and it's her hair. Long, thick, and either black or a really deep brown (its impossible to tell), it reaches to about her waist. It's wavy and a little curly, and it seems to cascade down her shoulders and fall to her waist. Her hair has always seemed to be her way of stating her independency and uniqueness from her family.

Everything else wasn't hers originally. Her eyes, almond shaped and a clear blue with a dark green circle around the rim, are her mothers. Her nose, small and rounded, is her grandmothers. Her neck, long and soft, is her Aunt Josephine's. Her ears, slightly sticking out, are her fathers. Her mouth, full and rounded, is her other grandma's. Her torso is her Uncle's Thom's, long and lean. Last but not least, her legs, short, fat, and stocky, are, again, her mother's.

Nothing about Renee, except for her hair, is unique. She often times feels like a cookie cutter of the rest of her family. In order to feel like she's special and different, she changes her style everyday. Some days, her hair will fall around her in a very super-modelly way. Other days, she'll put it up in a crazy bun with barettes and hair clips. When not in her school robes, her style is very much her own. She wears shirts and pants often times of her own creation. Renee finds herself skillful with a needle and thread. She designs her own clothes as a hobby of hers- which results in her very unique way of dressing.

Personality

Personality: All her life, Renee has felt trapped. She has always felt as if she's not unique- that there's nothing at all special about her. For this reason, whenever she goes somewhere new, she tries to distinguish herself as an individual instead of a member of a crowd. When she went to muggle school until she was elevan, she always strived to be different. But often times, her efforts were wasted. The students often made fun of her craving for uniqueness. In a world where being the same of everyone else was the key to being liked, Renee had no hope of ever being admired for standing out. Instead, she was laughed at.

Over the years, Renee has found another way of establishing her individuality. She became an amateur writer. Her mind is always buzzing with ideas about the world, and with plots for stories. Whenever she reads books, she often imagines alternate endings. When she was twelve, she had the brilliant idea of writing them down. She has been an avid writer ever since.

School, to Renee, is about as unimportant as making a difference is important. She does very poorly in most her subjects, as she doesn't find an interest in any of them. The only ones she finds even remotely interesting are Astronomy and Defense Against the Dark Arts. Consequentially, those are the only ones she gets high grades for. The thing about Renee is that she only puts effort into things she sees as worthy to put effort in. Everything else is just there to her- something that she has to do, even though she doesn't want to.

Relationships and Social Skills: When out in public, Renee tries to present herself as an individual. She tries to stand out as much as she can, so she does anything to draw attention to herself. She always goes against the majority when it comes to real life issues or politics. When she is around her friends, however, she acts normal. Renee can be a normal teenager when she wants to be, and when she's around her friends; she doesn't feel the need to draw so much attention to herself.

Renee tries to hide herself form her family. She finds them to overcrowding and manipulative for her to bother with them. Everyone in her family is very persuasive- they can get anyone to do anything at anytime. It seems as though they have a power to make people do what they want. This is exactly why Renee tries to escape from them. She is obsessed with being her own person. She's afraid that if she get's too close, her family will overpower her and turn her into a clone of her sister, who is the biggest follower in the world.

Weaknesses: One of Renee's weaknesses is the fact that she can be self-centered. Actually, she's self-centered most of the time. She realizes this, and tries to prevent it. Another of her weaknesses is obviously the fact that she doesn't pay attention to school. Someday, its going to hurt her- but she doesn't quite know it. She's also extremely stubborn, which can hurt her sometimes.
Strengths: The fact that she's so different from everyone else is a strength I suppose. Also, the fact that she does at least moderately well in DADA is an advantage. Even though Renee doesn't realize it, she has definitely established herself as a unique person of society. Her determination once she sets her mind on something is one of her strengths.

Past, Present, and Future

History: Growing up in Bristol gave Renee the neighborhood experience as she grew up. She lived in the suburbs in a good house, had good parents, and let's just say, was very well off. Her family was very large, and was into family gatherings. They had huge family parties at least three times a year, not to mention birthdays and holidays. Renee realized the sameness in each of her relatives. Sure, they had different jobs, and looked different, but their personalities were all about the same. When she turned nine years old, she went through a change. Her best friend at school moved away and she now had no one to confide in. It was then that Renee started feeling trapped. She felt that everyone around her was forcing her to be something she didn't want to be- and she hated it.

Renee started showing signs of independency. She refused to let her mom choose any of her clothes. She started experimenting with make up and different hair styles. She refused to get hair cuts, and instead let her hair grow long. Her grades started slipping. Renee let all tension go and formed her own world. It seemed as though a bubble had formed around her. Her parents tried to talk to her, but she refused to come out of bubble. Today, she's still in this bubble, but only when she's around those who will try to make her come out.

The summer that she turned eleven changed her life forever. She received a letter from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It took a while for her to be convinced, but once she was, she was so excited. Here was a whole new beginning for her. So Renee attended Hogwarts, and she loved it. Finally, she was away from her parents. She finally found a place where she could be herself and no one (except for the Professors) could tell her what to do.
Here and Now: Renee is doing very poorly in classes. She doesn't realise it, but it will hurt her someday. She may even have to be tutored if her grades continue to be this awful. Her teachers are threatening that she might not move into her fifth year if she doesn't get better grades. Her grandmother is currently sick, and on weekends she sometimes has to go visit her. Renee loved her grandmother, she just never...connected with her. She's not exactly depressed about, more sad. She would rather spend her weekends at school than at the hospital trying to talk to a woman that can't answer in full sentances.
Long-term Outlook: Renee has no idea what she would like to do with her life. She doesn't get any good grades, except DADA and Astronomy, but there's not much she can do with good grades in those two classes. She does, however, plan on deciding between the start of her fourth year and the end of her fifth.

Special Request: To treat herself when she first visited Diagon Alley, Renee found the most interestingly magical item and bought it. She found a set of two little black diaries, but they are not really diaries. You give one diary to a friend, and you keep the other, and you can communicate with each other.

Person one takes out their diary and writes something in it. Person two hears their diary making a whistling sound, or sees it turning red, of feels it going hot (they can set it to their personal preference) , so they open it up and read the message. They then respond. It’s sort of like instant messenger except through a book.
Reason: Friendships are always very important to Renee- and loosing them over the summer because of distance always scares her. If she had the diaries, she could always keep in contact with her friends. Not only that, but it’d be a great tool in classes for her to write notes to one another. In all, it’d be a great way for Renee to talk to her friends and stay social.

RP Sample: The sun was low in the horizon, keeping the sky alive with pinks, oranges, and red. The lake was reflecting the colors in the sky, and the normally orange grass was shining orange. Renee sighed and moved away from the window. Looking out was making her feel too melancholy. She turned back to her school work and rolled her eyes. Why had she left all her homework for now?

Oh, that's right. It's because I told myself to leave until now...

Renee looked around the common room and scoffed. She wasn't the only one that had left all of her work for Sunday evening. It seemed as though there was a trend in doing very poor work very late at night. She leaned back in her chair. Renee just wanted to forget it, pretend like she didn't have any homework. But she knew that if she did, bad things would result. For instance, staying back might result. And there was no way Renee Bercutio would ever stay back.

Not ever.
