Title: Apothecary
Description: Corbin, Joe and Sofie.
Corbin Marahawk - July 20, 2005 08:12 PM (GMT)
(OOC: Here we go! Breena didn’t actually put an Apothecary as a store, so we are going to have to use this. Oh well! and again, other people can join this topic I am just putting these names in to show that they are involved in this topic. Like it was a follow on :bored: )
After traveling through floo powder for the fifth time in his life Corbin still felt a little queasy after each journey. "So are we all her?" Corbin looked round at Joe and Sofie. "Is this anyone’s first time?" Corbin wondered, asking them if they had done this sort of thing before.
"Well, we need to make it to the Apothecary; I hope they are still open." Corbin told the other, increasing his speed as he walked. Making the other catch up. Still gripping his piece of parchment with the ingredients on he did not want to lose it, because he couldn’t remember them all of by heart.
He had his wand in his inside pocket along with some floo powder to come back, and parchment and money in another. "That reminds me, we will have to take a trip to the leaky cauldron and use their floo powder to get back. Not any trouble at all!" Corbin smiled, hoping that they wouldn’t get caught still, as there was a possibility.
Sofie Vogeldorf - July 20, 2005 08:24 PM (GMT)
Sofie stood up and looked around, she had never been to Diagon Alley before. She was brushing dirt and soot off of her robes when she heard Corbin behind her, obviously he had gotten here alright. She listened as Corbin gave them the plan.
All of a sudden Corbin started walking to the Apothecary as he had indicated Sofie ran to catch up with him. "I've never been here before, never been anywhere in London really. These stores are all so interesting" She said as she was looking around although careful to keep up with Corbin.
"What's the Leaky Cauldron?" she asked as she continued to study Diagon Alley. This was a lot better than what they had in Olbrecht.
Joe Crow - July 20, 2005 08:25 PM (GMT)
"Floo Travel wasn't exactly the same as described in the books." Joe said, a little queazy, but still unabashed.
Corbin then began leading them to the Apothecary, to stock up on ingredients. As they walked through Diagon Alley, Joe's old trail of thoughts began sneaking back into his head, struggling with his new-found rebelliousness for supremacy
What are you doing? his 'normal' voice of mind told him, You should be back in the common room reading up on the Draught of Sleeping Death, not prancing through Diagon Alley!
Isn't this fun though? his rebel-mind argued back, You're breaking school-rules, so what?, you're going to benfit aren't you.
Joe couldn't decide what he thought, and decided that he would go along with the plan they were currently executing, but would try not to get himself into any sort of connection with his 'accomplices'
Corbin Marahawk - July 20, 2005 08:33 PM (GMT)
"The leaky Cauldron is a bar, a "pub" If you will. Where witches and wizards come to have a drink, and eat whilst in diagon ally. You see?" Corbin told Sofie as he pointed to the left where the leaky cauldron was.
"What do you mean, in the books?" Corbin asked Joe, with a confused face, carrying on walking; they were almost at the Apothecary. As Corbin stopped his feet and turned right they were in front of the shop which they longed for. Running up to the sign on the soor it said.
'Open!'
Corbin’s heart raced. "So come on then, what are we waiting for!?" He smiled, opening the door of the Apothecary. ...ding..ding..Te bell rang, as Corbin entered. Looking around the shop he saw a little old man, behind the counter, half falling asleep.
Not wanting to wake him, he made a 'come here' motion with his hand, inviting his friends in. Corbin was worried about Joe. He didn’t see the "doing much" type. More of a "reading book.." person. Keeping to himself. But Corbin wanted to show him that there was much more than that.
Joe Crow - July 20, 2005 08:39 PM (GMT)
"I have read about Floo Travel in books before, I just...haven't done it before then." Joe said, rather defensively.
The trio made their way into the shop, and Corbin signalled to them to follow him in.
"Sofie," Joe asked the other Ravenclaw, the only person he seemed to 'trust' enough round here at the moment, "Do you have the feeling we're letting ourselves into something alot bigger than we expected?"
Because Joe certainly did.
But, he couldn't help but admire at the rows upon rows of magical ingredients, from bezoar to unicorn hair.
There were also many books along the shelves, but Joe resisted the lure to read them all.
Sofie Vogeldorf - July 20, 2005 08:39 PM (GMT)
"Yeah I know what you mean" Sofie responded to Joe "I read it about it in a book too and they said nothing about the dizzies or getting queasy, OR even falling out and onto your face like I did" she then lowered her voice to answer his question. "Yes I do, but we're almost in a little too far, and we don't have to help him make the potion. Do you think we should turn back?"
She then heard Corbin explaining to her about the Leaky Cauldron "Oh!" she exclaimed looking to where he indicated, it's outside looking as if what he discribed was exactly what was inside.
Suddlenly Corbin stopped and she turned to look where he was looking. It was the Apothecary. She smiled when she saw it was open. She turned to look a Joe to see what his reaction was and when she turned around she saw that Corbin was motioning them into the store she went in quietly cautious but at the same time very excited to see what was in it. It was much bigger than the store in Olbrecht.
Joe Crow - July 20, 2005 08:49 PM (GMT)
Joe whispered to Sofie in response to her own question, "Like you said, we're in a little too far, so it's too late to turn back. We'll just have to carry on, but just keep an eye out. We don't want something to happen to you.......or me either."
They continued following Corbin, through the shop. The old man, clearly the owner, was sat asleep at the counter, giving Joe the time he wanted to browse among the shelves while Corbin began ticking things off his list.
"See everything we need?" asked Joe quietly, not wanting to wake the old man
Sofie Vogeldorf - July 20, 2005 08:54 PM (GMT)
Sofie, taking what Joe said to heart started sticking a little closer to him and watching Corbin a little more closely. She'd had the uneasy feeling since the very beginning but there was also the little air of rush she got from breaking the rules.
What is wrong with you Sofs? she aksed herself silently. She started looking around the shop, this WAS a lot bigger than back home, and it had a lot more stuff, a lot more dangerous looking stuff. She knew that if they got caught now there would be no hope for her, her Father would almost certainly make her return to Stabzauber School.
She quietly asked Corbin, "What was it that we needed we can go in different directions to get them and meet at the counter, it'll be faster"
Joe Crow - July 20, 2005 08:58 PM (GMT)
Joe, noticing Sofie seem to stay a little closer to him as he spoke to Corbin, agreed that they could find the things they needed quicker if they spread out among the rather large shop.
"Sofie's right," he said, "It wouldn't take long at all if we looked seperately. Read out the list for us again Corbin."
Joe risked another look at the old owner, who was still snoring like he would never wake up.
I suppose you can do that when you shop is protected with magic against any thieves Joe thought to himself, before looking at a particular odd-looking cauldron.
Sofie Vogeldorf - July 20, 2005 09:19 PM (GMT)
Sofie turned to Joe "Does he seem to be hearing us?" Indicating to Corbin, who had remained silent since they entered.
"He hasn't said a word. Should we try to get his attention?" She asked
Sofie kept following Corbin through the shop wondering if he was in his own little world, she still kept quite close to Joe, the uneasy feeling coming back more and more.
Corbin Marahawk - July 20, 2005 09:22 PM (GMT)
(OOC: sorry for the delay! )
"Okay, Here we go.." Corbin read the list aloud, at Joes wishes..
"Lacewing fly’s, sorted for 21 days… - which have in my room..
Leeches…
Powdered bicorn horn…
Knotgrass…
Flux weed picked at full moon…
boom slang skin…
A item of the person who you want to turn into..
Soo, I think I will take the leeches and powdered bicorn horn, Sofie you take the Knotgradd and Flux weed picked at the full moon. And Joe that means you can get the boom slang skin. Then when we are back at Hogwarts we can all go and get out item off the person we are forming into. Sound okay?" Corbin told the others hoping they would agree.
Corbin had the feeling that they didn’t trust him, maybe it was his empath powers working wrong, but he was sure of it. Bringing up the subject, after all he had to say something.
"Look, I know that we all don’t know each other well, but you have to trust me. I don’t want to get caught just as much as you to don’t. I just wanted to make this clear." trying not to shout and wake the shopkeeper he ended the topic about trust as he wanted to get back to school as soon as possible.
Looking on the shelves for his two items he couldn’t see anything, yet he continued to look.
Sofie Vogeldorf - July 20, 2005 09:40 PM (GMT)
((OOC: Sorry for my delay, my internet decided that it would be a butthead and fool around with the connection))
Sofie nodded when he told her what she needed to get Knotgrad and Flux weed picked at full moon She thought to herself, glancing around the shop tryind to decide where to start looking first.
Corbin then said something that made Sofie feel bad for not trusting him, it was like he could read her emotions. She knew he was right, Sofie didn't know Joe any better than she knew Corbin, she guessed she just trusted Joe a little more because he wasn't the one who had instigated this. Nobody had forced Sofie into this she didn't have to do it, it was of her own chosing. "I'm sorry, Corbin, you're right, none of us want to get caught." She apologized to him, relaxing a little more around him, maybe he could turn out to be one of her good friends. Him and Joe, she rather liked Joe, and the fact that he was in her house made it all the better.

(OOC: Sokay, aol does that to me all the time >_<)
"Right, now we have this sorted out lets get finding! Unless.. you having anything to say on the subject Joe?" Corbin turned to face Joe, giving him a chance to say what he thought on the subject. After all he wanted to get everything out in the open.
Leeches…
Powdered bicorn horn…Corbin thought, keeping in mind what he had to look for. A...b...c..d..e...f..g..h..i..j..k..l..L! Leeches! He kept thinking, looking at the labels to find an L. Corbin picked up the glass jar of leeches and looked at it closely.
"I have the leeches, got anything yet Sofie, Joe?" Corbin asked them, whilst placing the leeches carefully upon the desk ready to pay, smiling at his find. But then leaving them to go and look for the other ingredients.
wont be long now.. He kept telling himself.
Joe Crow - July 21, 2005 06:15 PM (GMT)
When asked by Sofie if he thought Corbin wa listening to them, Joe gave an uncertain shrug, before going to look for the boom slang skin.
After a short conversation between Sofie and Corbin about trust, Joe was asked whether or not he had anything to add to the subject.
"No, no I do not." he replied, as he grasped the boom slang skin in his hand.
He approached the counter and placed the skin on it just after Corbin had placed his ingredients.
Corbin does seem to have a certain thrill for this sort of thing, and it looks like Sofie would not have usually done such a thing as this. I hope for her sake more than his that we don't get caught.
Corbin seemed an okay guy, it was just his personality didn't 'appeal' to Joe's. But he seemed to show Joe what he had called 'a good time'. Perhaps they would both learn things from each other? Joe couldn't say at this point in time.
Archiving the thought for later, Joe turned to see if Sofie had heard ingredients ready.
Sofie Vogeldorf - July 21, 2005 09:30 PM (GMT)
Sofie quickly found the ingredients that she was suppose to.
She gave Joe a little smile as she walked up to the counter and placed her ingredients next to the other ones and slinked back a little standing next to Joe.
"Well," she started quietly "almost done getting everything, we'll soon be back to the Castle, thank goodness."
Corbin Marahawk - July 21, 2005 11:19 PM (GMT)
(OOC: eek watch your post count as you might get told about this by an actual mod. And don’t try and rush the topics, that way we would be spamming and not leaving the threads open to other people... I just thought about that >_<)
"Good.." Corbin fired back at Joe. At the look of Joe, wasn’t very keen on him. He just wanted to get his things and be off, the less he saw of him the better. it shouldn’t have been Joe having doubts about Corbin, more a less the other way around.
Watching Sofie and Joe having picked up their ingredients and place them on the counter Corbin picked up his last ingredient and followed behind them. "It looks like I'll be paying.." He looked down at his pocket, taking out a few coins just enough to pay for the ingredients.
Looking at the shop keeper he was clearly still asleep. "Hello!" Corbin waved in front of the mans face. Hoping he would wake up. Knocking on the hard wooden desk the man shot up with in seconds. "Finally your awake, now can I please purchase these items..?" Corbin asked the man, pushing the objects in front of the man.
Ergh yes, yes.. The old man grumbled, after being at least half awake for the twenty or more minutes they spent in the shop.
"Ahh, I seem to be missing two knuts, Sofie Joe.. Do either of you have any money? I will return it to you when we get back of coarse. .. Or do you not trust me?" Corbin looked up at Joe, pulling an awkward face, as if now. He didn’t trust Joe.
Sofie Vogeldorf - July 21, 2005 11:29 PM (GMT)
Sofie watched as Corbin put the last of the ingredients on the counter and woke up the shop keeper. Sofie was a little amused at how he did it, banging on the counter and startling the poor old man half awake (as he still seemed mostly half asleep). She let out a small giggle.
Sofie was looking around the shop some more as Corbin was doing the transaction she was snapped out of it when she heard Corbin ask for some knuts. Then he made the remark about her and Joe not trusting him and she immediately felt the hot flush run back into her cheeks and ears (only really seen in her ears ask her cheeks are always flushed), she really hated hurting people like that.
Sofie fished two knuts out of her pockets and handed them to Corbin, "Here, and don't worry about paying me back, I might use some of the stuff to, might as well pay my share right?" she said giving him a small smile.l
((OOC: Yeah, I really hated that last post, I couldn't think of anything to say, I didn't get much.))
Corbin Marahawk - July 21, 2005 11:39 PM (GMT)
(OOC: Its okay!)
"Here, and don't worry about paying me back, I might use some of the stuff to, might as well pay my share right?"
"Thanks," Corbin thanked Sofie for giving him some Knuts, as she passed over the coins. "Here, this should be enough.." He then told the man at the counter handing him the last of the money..
"Fourteen sickles.. galleons...knuts...Yes that’s right! The, what looked like the owner of the shop told Corbin, as he got a small paper bag and lifted the object up and carefully placed the glass jars and items into the paper bag.
"Are you sure you don’t want in on the whole, transforming thing?" Corbin asked Joe, as it didn’t seem right that he would come all this way not to.
Here we are.. Do come again! The Man smiled handing Corbin the paper bag over. "Sure will!" Corbin exclaimed, checking that all the ingredients were there. "Oh and we also got a cauldron!" Corbin told the others looking surprised. "Sir, what is the cauldron for?" He asked.
Oh, I forgot to mention... You get one free when you spend over 2 sickles and 2 knuts... Its an offer or something. Anyway, cya later kids! The old man spoke telling the students about the special offer giving to them.
Joe Crow - July 22, 2005 03:31 PM (GMT)
"I may hold back a small jar of the potion for myself, in case I ever do need it," Joe replied when Corbin asked him if he wanted to take part in the transformation, "But right now, my concerns are with seeing whether or not I can make it."
Whatever would I need it for? he thought to himself
"Shall we head back to the school now? I think we have been gone long enough don't you?" he asked the other two, particularly Sofie.
The sooner we get back there the better, he told himself as he waited for their responses, Not to mention, Shadowfoot probably needs feeding.
Sofie Vogeldorf - July 22, 2005 10:11 PM (GMT)
Sofie watched the exchange between the shop keeper and Corbin. When he got the bag Corbin looked in it and showed both her and Joe that to his surprise there was also a small cauldron in the bottom of the bag. This is when the shop keeper told them that there was a special promotion, free cauldron with purchse over a certain amount. Wonder how good it is thought Sofie to herself.
It was then that Corbin turned to Joe to ask if he was going to take part in the transformation as well. When she heard his reply it seemed the most logical one. Put some in a jar, and save it for later, why didn't I think of that she thought.
Joe then asked them if they should leave now, that he felt they'd been gone from school long enough. Sofie couldn't help but agree, while she loved seeing all this stuff, she didn't like much doing it in the manner that they were. There was something fun about the sneeking, but she didn't want to get caught. "Yes, I think this is the perfect time to go." Sofie said to Joe. "Shall we go, Corbin?" she asked glancing over at him.
