Title: Astronomy oo2
Description: ((Attempt Two ^.~ ))

Prof. Aiera Lunaran - July 15, 2005 02:54 PM (GMT)
((Sorry, I found myself distracted with many other things in the past while. I'm back now though!))

It was a proper time for an Astronomy class now. The full moon was right on schedual to be fully risen at 1:30 a.m. according to her lunascope and it was now 12:55 as she waited for her class to gather at the expected time of 1:00 a.m.

Out on the observation deck sat a tray with various drinks and snacks to keep her students awake untill the requiered 3:00 a.m. that she was holding them hostage, or so it would seem.

Demitri was back at the house that her and Aaron owned in Hogsmead as it was a Friday night and she did spend the weekends with him there. She had been up all day unfortunatly trying to take care of some buisness with her father, so not only was she dozy, but she was slightly ruffled as well. However, she infusion of a nice potion given to her by her friend Virginia was helping to relax and calm her.

But it seemed to relax her almost a little too much though as she was sunk down in one of the comfy seats around the room, her eyes only half open as the cup of tea looked as if it were goign to slip out any second.

Great way to start off a class really...

Lucine Yesevan - July 15, 2005 05:33 PM (GMT)
Lucine entered the room. It was late on his terms for a class, but he had chosen to attend and so had made a commitment to arrive whetever time it was. With a yawn, he looked around and shrugged as he came to the conclusion that he was the first student to arrive. He nodded at his instructor as a greeting gesture and slumped down in a comfy chair - It was almost like an armchair. From what he had seen so far, the lesson, and possibly the teacher too, were very unorthodox. He liked it.

Ah... He thought with a smile of comfort as he sat back and rested, I hope I don't fall asleep in this chair here now.

Cyn Canadensis - July 16, 2005 03:37 AM (GMT)
Making her shadowy way up a staircase in the middle of the night in a place that wasn't Farrelly and wasn't 34 Canberra Alley was all too familiar to Cyn- and so, when she reached the top of the stairs and slid the door open silently, it almost seemed to shock her that she, in fact, had arrived in class. She shook her head a tiny bit and rubbed at her temples as she went to sit on a chair towards the corner of the room. It was odd, doing things now- but this was a new place, a new life, at least for the moment. Cyn had to leave the past where it belonged- behind her, in Vancouver.

Chin in hand, Cyn leaned her elbows on the desk and twisted on the chair so that she could look above, see the night sky. There really was an excellent view from here... much better then the one from the roof of the hideout, anyway. No skyscrapers in the middle of nowhere to block out the constellations. Cyn smiled. This was more like it.

Arche Rodahl - July 17, 2005 04:36 AM (GMT)
"Come on Ark, you can do it. You used to do it all the time back home." Arche Rodahl stumbled up the steps to his Astromony class. Every so often he would give himself a small slap on the cheek, although it soon became sore and he instead pinched his forearm. Although not exactly the usual candy substances he consumed to stay awake when he usually did back in Oslo, it would have to do for now.

As the boy stood outside the classroom, he stood up straight, gave himself another hard pinch and roughly shook his head. Ark took a deep breath and entered the classroom. He dearly hoped he could at least appear awake and alert.

He sighed in relief as he saw not many students were assembled. He gave them all a passing glance and strode to a seat in the middle, whereas he plopped down and began to think of ways to stay awake. More then once he had fallen asleep when he hadn't meant to, and that had only led to trouble.

Kin's fast asleep, no using his help, Ark thought with drooping eyelids. He covered his mouth as yawned and gazed at the sky above. Wonder how long I'll be awake?

Prof. Aiera Lunaran - July 18, 2005 04:44 PM (GMT)
"Good morning everyone." Said the professor as she stood out of her chair, setting her mug on the desk. A sleepy smile was on her face as she looked around at the small gathering. "Well, since you all thought that noon was a funny time for an astronomy class, how about a more traditional one?" She said with a chuckle as she looked over the tired faces around her.

She clapped her hands together sharply. "Okay sleepy heads! Time to wake up!" She laughed, more to wake them up than because she felt like laughing. "Just the briefest overview of this mornings class while we wait for everyone else to arrive. Today we're going to be studying the moon. Physical fetures, it's influance on the earth and life on this planet, mythology and fables associated with the moon!" The topic though really did excite her. The moon was her favorite object to study, given the fun she had.

She vuagely thought about her long time friend... Virginia the half werewolf... Yes... She would be transformed tonight... Ran through her mind as a desire to be out and about with her filled her heart.

"So if you like, to keep yourselves awake you can just do a quick bit of reading up on the moon, and see if there is anything that facinates you in particular."

Sofie Vogeldorf - July 20, 2005 06:34 PM (GMT)
Sofie was running up the stairs trying to get to her class on time unfourtunately she didn't think she was going to make it. Every so often she would stumble because of her exahustion, she did however remember to step over the disapearring stair. She didn't fancy much becoming stuck before she even got to class. Come on Sofie! Now would be the perfect time for you to be able to become a complete animagus, just fly up there.

She kept glancing nervously at her watch wanting to get to class on time. I really hope I'm not the only student that is going to be late she wished silently as she trudged up the stairs, slowly losing her momentum. "Just had to sign up for Astrology didn't you Sofie" she said to herself a little sarcastically. It had seemed like a good idea at the time, but now she was not quite sure whether it was the brightest decision she'd ever made.

Finally, Sofie made it to the Astronomy tower. She sighed, and steadied her breathing a little and then cautiously walked into the class.

"I'm sorry I'm late profe..." She looked around the room and saw how few students there were and turned to the professor and gave her a smile "...ssor" she finished her sentence.

Tim Weasley - August 1, 2005 02:03 PM (GMT)
Tim ran up the tower stairs triping over one or two of them. He had almost slept past his Asronomy lesson and did not want to be late. As he ran up the stairs he could see Sofie and laughed. At least I am not the only one, he thaught. He knew he was close to the classroom door. He reached out for the door handle and pulled the door open as he slid to a halt right in front of prof. Lunaran.

"Sorry I am late,"Tim gasped."This early morning stuff is tough on me," he said with a smile. He hoped that prof. Lunaran would return the smile. He looked around the room noticing everyone was half asleep. Then he looked back at prof. Lunaran in hopes that he might not get in trouble for bieng late. He looked around the room filled with many objects that he had not seen before.
Wow, this stuff looks cool! He thaught to himself with his eyes wondering around the room. Suddenly he relized that he was still standing, he shook head to get rid of the awe struck look on his face.
"Um were do you want me to sit,"Tim aked with a slight grin.

Glenda Catchlove - August 2, 2005 01:42 PM (GMT)
Glenda found herself crawling at an achingly slow pace, up the long staircase to Astronomy. Her legs were incredibly sore and tired. She didn't know if she even wanted to go, anymore. It was one in the morning! Glenda usually had to drag herself out of bed every morning at six. Glenda groaned, reaching another platform.

After sitting on the platform and leaning against the cool stone wall, she nearly fell asleep again. A sharp jab in her rear awoke her, the uneven stone digging into her bottom. Groaning, she stumbled away from the wall and managed to crawl up a few more steps.

She finally reached the top, and her legs were aching. Her eyelids were incredibly heavy. She managed to gather enough strength to push open the door and look around the room vacantly. She blinked and rubbed her eyes.

"Sorry I'm-I'm-ah-" She was interrupted by a large yawn. "late, Professor." She added. "I don't do so well during the night."

Glenda made her way over to one of the incredibly comfortable chairs. She flopped into it, barely taking note of those around her. She sunk into the cushions, and she felt sleep stir at the edge of her senses. If she wasn't careful, she'd fall asleep in class. But the pillows were so soft… And the chair was almost as comfortable as her bed… No! Glenda snapped open her heavy eyelids. She must stay awake!

She shifted in the chair, and no matter how she sat, the chair was incredibly comfortable. With a resigned sigh, she decided it'd have to be her own will power that kept her awake and alert in class. She pulled out her self-inking quill from her bag, and some parchment. There were also Astronomy books in her bag, which was a terrible pain while she clawed her way up the steps.

Anastasia Lascaris - August 2, 2005 01:45 PM (GMT)
Anastasia was sitting upright in her seat, flciking through her copy of the required Astronomy book. As she was looking through, not paying much attention, she noticed Tim and Sofie enter. Ana smiled to herself at the memory of Sofie earlier that day, listening to another Ravenclaw student, Joe Crow, repeatedly tell her of his appreciation of his friendship and embarassed expression. She returned to her book, although she wasn't actually reading it because the Professor Lunaran hadn't been very specific and Ana was too distracted by her thoughts to look in the index for the page numbers.

To be honest, Ana thought that Astronomy was simply a more focused section of Divination, a lesson that she had chosen not to take as she didn't believe that it would actually help her learn anything worthwhile, so she wasn't overly enthusiastic to do some hard learning that night, up in the Astronomy tower.

Prof. Aiera Lunaran - August 3, 2005 02:24 PM (GMT)
She couldn't help but laugh as three student's in a row stumbled in sleepily , appologizing for being late.

"Don't worry." She said with a smile. "You're not late untill I say you are my dears, so that is nothing at all to worry about. And just to let you know, we will be studyong the moon tonight as it is in it's fullest stage and where it is not as close to the earth at the moment, it was too good of a night to pass up weather wise." Some student's didn't realize it, but weather was a key factor of Astronomy.

"We will be going into geological features of the moon's surface, why it is the way it is today along with the influance of the moon on the earth in regards to both things that are living and not living. Things such as tides and Werewolves just for a few vuage referances." She explained. "You will find that the science of astronomy streatched beyond the art of divination even though you can use them together. That was one thing I had to continualy beat into my dear husband." She chuckled.

"Because where as divination is never one hundred percent certian, Astronomy is baised of what we know. We know the sun affects our planet hyst as the moon does. but are there any other influances from the other bodies you think...?" She trailed off into a question. "Oh, and anyone who comes in now or latter is late." She mentioned in an off hand tone.

((NOTE:So if you still wish to join the class, plase post as if you were already here. If you don't, your post will be deleted.))

Tim Weasley - August 4, 2005 02:41 AM (GMT)
Tim listened to Prof. Lunaran talking about the moon and how it affects diffrent things.
When she asked if other bodies effected our planet Tim looked dumfounded and stared off into space pondering on the question. Other bodies...effect our planet. There is gravitational pull, comets can wreck into the planet. What else could effect it? Tim thought looking confused.

He pulled out his book from his bag and pulled parchment out of his bag's side pocket.
I just know there is going to be an essay on this. Tim thought to himself with a rather loud sigh. He looked around to see if any one noticed, then stared back down at his parchment. Tim never knew much about the moon except for the stories about were wolves. His mother used to tell him scary stories about the were wolves before he went to bed.

No one seemed to awnser, kids yawning here and there. There was a rather quiet moment that lasted a while. Then Tim finally looked up from his book and raised his hand. Without waiting for the proffessor to call upon him he blurted out,"Doesn't the other planets have effect on ours... because of the... gravitational pull?" He stammered out the answer. He was bad about blurting out answers and not waiting for the proffessors to call on him. Tim looked back down at his book and scribbled circles on his yellow colored parchment.

Prof. Aiera Lunaran - August 4, 2005 03:28 AM (GMT)
She smiled brightly at Tim's answer. "Exactly. Ten points to Hufflepuff." She said with a nod. "The gravitational pull of the moon causes tides in the larger bodies of watter, stimulating growth in some places while destroying things in others. Tides effect the weather and even things like Tsunamis, though they are mainly caused by earthquakes under the ocean, the literal translation from japanese is 'moon wave'. They waves that can level entire villages and wipe out complete harbors and can be cause by the gravitational pulls of the moon other planets." She explained.

"Comets, Asteroids and meteoroids are all held in place by gravitational fields, and when one escapes from it's chosen orbit or is pulled by something stronger, catasrophies can ensue." She said with a mater of fact tone.

"Some of you may remember the Soemaker Levy 9 comet incident that had the divination and astronomy worlds a buzz back a little over a decade ago. I was jst fresh out of hogwarts so none of you might actualy remember, anyway, it was pulled out of it's orbit and was pulled srtaight into jupiter for a fantastic display of explosions really... And now I am compleatly off track." She finnished with a smile.

"Now, first like I said we will be studying the moon itself. So if you would follow me out to the observation deck and partner up at a telescope if there isn't one enough for everyone and for those of you who need a nice burst of energy I have some drinks that were prepaired by my wonderful husband that will give you just what you need." She added with a chuckle as she grabbed a cup herself and made her way out to the deck.

Sofie Vogeldorf - August 4, 2005 03:30 AM (GMT)
Sofie took a seat next to Tim and listened as the professor spoke. She then asked if there were any other bodies that could have an effect on our planet.

Sofie pondered this for a moment. Then raised her hand. Before she could be called on Tim blurted out that he thought that the other planets' gravitational pulls had an effect on the planet. She agreed and gave Tim a thumbs up, she was going to mention something about the sun herself but it seems that the professor had decided to move on.

While Tim had gone to doodling on his parchment Sofie did as the teacher asked and followed her silently onto the deck in which she had walked. She did consider breifly about having one of the drinks that Professor Lunaran's husband had made but decided against it and walked over to a Telescope calling out to Tim.

"Hey Tim, are you going to sit there and doodle all day or are you going to come and work with me at this telescope like you're SUPPOSE to do." She smiled at him and giggled a little waiting for him to come join her.

Tim Weasley - August 4, 2005 03:48 AM (GMT)
Tim heard his name bieng called and looked up as if he were a small creature peeking out of its home. Tim nodded at Sofie and walked towards her. Suddenly he spotted the drinks that prof. Lunaran's husband had made and picked one up and took it out to the observation deck. He walked over to the telescope and looked at Sofie. "You want me to get a drink for you,"he said pointing to the drinks.

He looked at prof. Lunaran and then at the sky. The stars were bright outside and the moon seemed to have a blueish glow to it. He had never took the time to notice the moon. It looked beautiful and some what trans like. He looked over at Sofie.

"The moon is bright tonight, ain't it,"Tim said looking up at the moon again. The pale white of the moon glowed even brighter. He took a sip from the drink that prof. Lunaran offered. It tasted great and it sent a rush of energy right threw him. "Wow thats good stuff,"he said smiling.

Anastasia Lascaris - August 4, 2005 01:24 PM (GMT)
Anastasia sat up, after trying to take in all the information on Astronomy that she had just been told and put away her notepad, drawing equipment that she used for her doodles and her wand in her bag then walked over to the observation deck on her own. She realised quite quickly that she hadn't got a partner and so, taking a drink with her prepared by Mr Lunaran. She wondered what was in it but didn't bother asking - she simply assumed that it was an energy drink. She trusted her professor not to poison her so obviously.

Ana walked over to Glenda and tapped her on the back gently to get her attention. "Hello. I don't have a partner and it appears that you don't either. Shall we go together?" she inquired in her polite split Romanian/London accent to her fellow 5th year.

She took a sip of her drink as she walked to a telescope, expecting Glenda to follow even though she had given her little time to respond. What an odd feeling. What is this drink? she thought as she drank some more, enjoying it and feeling rather energized.

Sofie Vogeldorf - August 4, 2005 01:37 PM (GMT)
Sofie watched Tim come over mildly amused, he brought with him one of those drinks that Professor Aaron Lunaran had made for them. Sofie didn't know why she didn't grab one she could sure use a pick me up.

Tim then asked if she'd like him to go get her one, "No, that's okay Tim, I'll go get it myself, thank you though."

Sofie walked over and picked up one of the cups, she put it up to her face and breathed in the aroma of the liquid and walked back to stand next to Tim at their telescope.

"Does it taste any good?" Sofie asked with a crinkled nose as she looked at the liquid in the cup. She'd always been cautious about trying new things, her older brother Wulfric used to give her all kinds of gross things when she was little, telling her that they were really good stuff and not the nasty stuff that they turned out to be.

Tim Weasley - August 5, 2005 12:44 AM (GMT)
Tim was looking at the sky again taking in the cool early morning air.
He took another sip from his cup, the liquid running down into his stomach. When he heard Sofie ask him if the drink tasted good he swallowed to much of his drink and caughed. "Yeah..it's..good,"Tim said with a fit of caughes.

Tim started to examine the telescope touching the focus reel. I wonder what exactly we will be looking at? He thought smelling the aroma from his drink. It smelled good and gave him instant energy. My mom would love this stuff. Tim told himself remembering how his mom always drank coffee to stay awake on late nights when she decided to clean.

Tim looked back at the sky, the stars seemed to twinkle. Tim opened his book to the section about the moon and set his his cup by the telescope. "Prof. Lunaran,"Tim said holding his hand up. "Prof.Hill, what exactly are we going to be observing,"he asked picking up his cup and taking a sip from his drink.

Sofie Vogeldorf - August 5, 2005 04:35 AM (GMT)
Sofie took a sip of her drink, she felt the energy racing through her veins as the hot liquid slid down her throat. It tasted FABULOUS, and made her feel more awake than she had felt in ages!

She took out her book following suit of Tim and opend too the moon.

She then heard Tim ask professor Lunaran what they would be observing, and she nearly choked on her drink because she was giggling so hard.

"Tim," she said "You just opened up your book to the section on the moon, Prof. Lunaran was talking about the moon. What do you think we are going to observe?" She said this with a playful grin on her face.

Prof. Aiera Lunaran - August 5, 2005 02:56 PM (GMT)
((*coughs* I will assume you ment Professor Lunaran instead of Professor Hill... Granted I USED to teach chrams... But anyway, as much as I love to see students posting in my class, I would kindly ask you not to start flirting or anything. You can make threads for that later ^.~ And the drink is a combonation Pepperup potion for the kick and an invigorating draught. So it would give you an innitial kickstart then keep you going ^.^ And now for the sake of carrying on, I am goin gto assume everyone is out on the deck with a partner. *glances at Sofia and Tim* And I've got my eyes on you two ^.~))

She looked over the students as they had finaly all gathered around the telescopes, smiling at the effects of the drinks. Yes, they were awake for now, but like her, once the potion wore off, they would be out for a good number of hours. Good thing there were no classes on saturday, but it was just how the potion would work. Besides they would need sleep anyway.

"Ok everyone. If you would all open up to page four-twenty to the MAP of the moon that is in your book, we will start on the basic geography without using our telescopes for the moment." She said as she walked amongs the students making sure everyone had their books open to the right map.

"Now, looking over it even just breifly, you will see one word reapeated. Can anyone figure out what I'm talking about? Tell me what that word is, and what that word means?" She inquired, looking for a face that didn't seem to be to engaged in the activities. "Miss Canadensis? could you identify the word ant it's meaning for me please?"

Sofie Vogeldorf - August 5, 2005 03:05 PM (GMT)
((OOC: Yes, I've just changed my post, I didn't realize that I had done it until I looked at it I do apologise I looked at the last professors name Tim had typed. Also, Sofie isn't flirting with Tim, she has her eyes on someone else, she is merely joking around as that is her nature.))

Sofie sipped at her cup quietly and opened her book to the map of the moon. Just as the professor had asked of her.

She immediately found the word that was repeated so many times. She knew the meaning too, this was surprising to her. She never expected to be able to answer questions in THIS class.

She raised her hand and waited to be called on, she knew the answer, she didn't think she would since astronomy is not one of her best subjects. She smiled inwardly to herself as her hand was raised high.

She almost didn't hear the teacher ask somebody else to answer the question but when she did, she was a little disappointed and lowered her hand to see if the other student knew.

Cyn Canadensis - August 15, 2005 11:37 PM (GMT)
((OOC: agg sorry, I've been away and completely forgotten which threads I'm in... lolz :angelnot: hahha... sorry again ))

Cyn started abruptly. The professor had called on her, and unfortunately, the Slytherin sixth year had been half asleep. She blinked and then rubbed her eyes, looking down at the page in the textbook she had flipped to. It was the wrong one. 'Ah. Whoops.' Flipping through until she found the right page, Cyn made an odd face and raised her eyebrows. "Uhm, professor.. somethin's spilled on my book." True enough, there was a large blotch of light purple covering most of the pages in Cyn's Astronomy book- once again, the cheapskates at Farrelly showed their stripes and got thoroughly mistreated books for their inmates. However, from the look the professor was giving her, she had better start looking harder. Cyn bent over the page. "Jus' a minute..."

Slowly, the pupils of her eyes expanded with a touch of her power until they took up most of her eyes. The pages swam into sight, everything bathed in brighter light then before. "Uh... mare? Mare." Cyn looked up at the sky, trying to remember what the word meant. "Uhm... a big dark spot? But I though' they were only on Mars an' things..."

Risa Harada - September 4, 2005 08:26 PM (GMT)
Risa hurriedly ran to the astronomy tower. " Could I possibly be any later?!?!?!" She sighed. She was running as fast as her legs could carry her.

She slowly slunk through the door quietly, hoping not to be noticed. She did not want to get in trouble. Of all days to be late.... She thought herself.

She tried to catch up on what was going by listening intently. She was new here but she still couldn't beleive she had been late. She always liked to make a good impression.
