Character Name: Jetta St John
House: Ravenclaw
Blood Type: Pure Blood
Family Information: Jetta is the descendant of a long line of witches and wizards, Her family is quite proud of her their herritage and fame, and are not shy in sharing their purity and sucess. The first male son (and favorably only child) in each family, by tradition, is trained to fight with a number of different weapons so that he can participate and prove himself in ring fights (a sporting event favored for entertainment and gambling by many high class families). Jetta was born into a family who already had a male child., named Stephan. Her mother, Maryanne (pronounced My-ahn-ay), runs a small floral arangment shop on the nicer side of Vienna, while her father, also named Stephan, is a powerful buissnessman associated with the Ministry of Magic and their dealings.
Hometown: Vienna, Austria
Physical Description: Jetta's not one who might catch your eye at a first glance. She has soft, chocolate brown hair cut carelessly and unevenly at her chin, and a face almost always free of any sort of make-up. She's of medium height, around 5'6, and has an athletic build. Despise her parent's wish for a thin and proper 'young lady', Jetta leans farther towards a tomboy. Her waist, thighs, and uper arms are clearly defined, hardened by years of light traning. Though nothing out of the ordinary compared to other girls with their trendy clothes and black eyeliner, she has beautiful ivory skin (a cross of her Italian/ Austrian herritage) and beautiful, ebony black eyes.
Psychological Description: Jetta's a...rather tough nut to crack. Her outward appearance of a tough, tomboyish girl, is a tad superficial. None the less, the puts on a pretty good act. Perhaps, by mentioning her history first, one would have a better understanding of her psychological state/ reasons for her present being.
History: Being boarn into a family already considered 'complete' has its challnges. Stephen had been an only child, and Jetta's parents had intended to keep it that way. He was to be trained to be a superior ring-fighter. Of course, these fights were not to the death and never resulted in more than a flesh wound. Jetta's father had high hopes for his son and poured every ounce of his soul into him. He won high-class tournaments all over eastern europe and soon became bored with the competition. His parents were absolutely taken with him and provided him with anything his hearts desired. When Jetta came along, not much changed.
Jetta, of course, refused to go along with her parents from the very start. They almost treated her like an acessory, dressing her up in beautiful clothes and showing her off to their impressable friends. However, at home, she recieved little to no attention. She entertained herself for hours reading (not unlike Matilda, I know) or watching her brother train. She admired and loved her brother Stephan far beyond her parents because he returned to most attention, as little as it was. Jetta, however, never did pine for attention from her parents (like we so often see younger siblings do). With a little help from her brother, she kept her head down day after day, secretly practicing some things her brother had taught her at night with a broken broomstick.
After Jetta turned 10 and had suceeded to being quite a competent fighter with a stave, her brother (sixteen at the time) took her to a tournament he'd be fighting in. He told her to be a 'good girl' and not tell her parents. It turned out to be an illegal tournament held in an underground arena for a hefty sum of money. Plenty of skilled fighters had lost their lives down there, but that was something Stephen failed to mention to Jetta. He died that day, right before Jetta's young eyes. There was cheering for his death, and that awful sound still haunts Jetta's ears.
When Jetta finally made it home, she couldn't bring herself to tell her parents of her brothers death. For more than a week she baricaded herself in her small room without food and only a bit of water. She trained every single minute of that time with her brother's bloody katana, until she finally collapsed with fatigue. her parents discovered her body a day later, and eventually nursed her back to health. Jetta, however, seemed permenantly scarred from her brothers death, With no one left to provide her with caring and compasion, the prospect of her future seemed black. Her parents did everything they could to help her, but devastated themselves, they eventually quite trying. They were relieved to send Jetta off to Hogwarts after her eleventh birthday, hoping it would take her mind off of Stephan.
Psychological Description (cont.): Living a lifetime with so little love might be though to inhibit a sort of shyness and reserved personality upson the person. Jetta however is if anything even more forcibly self-driven to be self-sustaining. She never lets her true feelings shine through her tough, almost bad-ass exterior in fear that her weeknesses will be exploited. She does shrink back at unvonventionally shown friendship and kind offers. She's suspicious of anything and everything and never drops her guard.
