Title: Dark or Mysterious?
Description: Shopping for goodies...

Joseliel De Montroi - June 24, 2005 03:33 AM (GMT)
Josi walked through Knockturn Alley. Her hands sliding along the slimy walls, occasionally she'd wipe her hands on the coat of some sleeping witch or wizard.

She casually walked passed the strange, dark and mysterious shops, with a slight bounce in her step. Josi slipped through the door of one shop without so much as a sound, except, of course, for the bell.

"Oo's ere? I erd da bell... Now oo's ere?" A gruff english voice called from the back room.

"Just a girl, browsing your wares." Josi called back.

"Well don' you be touchin anythin you shouldna little missy..." The voice shouted back.

"I wont, dont worry, I'm not a thief, and I'd like my limbs intact." She called, laughing as she poked a squishy sack of cheese and mud.

"If yer wanting te buy anything, just give us a yell." He said, before making a racket, smashing glassware and banging metal against metal.

Josi had walked into a weaponary and battle healing shop. Full of old and wonderful gadgets and instruments used many centuries ago. Some looked like new, but others had a distinct 'old' feel to them.

She found a sword and picked it up, it was extremely heavy with a silver and gold hilt, carved with serpents and a woman. Poking through the herbs used for healing, she sniffed a few which smelled slightly more aromatic than jub jub weed and kippers kelp.

Josi browsed along a few shelves of old books, blowing off the dust, one caught her eye. 'Charms to disarm, cause harm and slightly disarray ones enemy'...

"Now thats something they wont teach in Charms." She said to herself aloud, pulling the book from the shelf, she hooked it under her arm and continued around the shop.

(ooc: Hope you don't mind me joining in and embellishing a little. We'll have to pretend -over on au- that they forgot about meeting each other!)

As the Old Crone walked into a rather mis-matched shelf of goods, sending the glass teetering over the edge and causing some shattering noise, Kievan could only shake his head in pity. How he hated coming here, and how he wished he could leave.

However, his Granfather had lately found it prudent to step-up Kievan's involvment in the business. Phase One? Get him to collect rent from a few of the less-than-appealing clients in Knockturn Alley.

It would be unwise to suggest Kievan were afraid. He knew better. However, you would be forgiven for suggesting that he felt uncomfortable. The shop's backroom smelt of death, like a long-forgotten pet who had bit the dust several months ago. Kievan half expected to come across the remains of a weather-beaten cat.

Mr. Callughan himself smelt like he'd seen better wash days, and Kievan fought the itching desire to wretch and gag. However, as the old man handed him a puny looking collection of coins, Kievan began to make a hasty exit back through the shop. He had not noticed the exchange of words between Josi and Callughan, but soon spotted the Slytherin as he lifted the countertop and stepped out into the shop.

"That looks quite in-depth." he said, eyeing the book she had picked up. "Im Kievan, by the way." he said as an introduction, snapping down the counter behind him -purposefully catching Callughan's fingers as he did so.

((OOC: Feel free to meddle :P And I could have sworn that when Josi and Keivan met over at AU they remembered each other... Meh, it doesnt matter... ))

Josi jumped slightly at the sound of the voice close by. She thought she was the only one in the shop, but was rudely mistaken.

"Ahh, yes, this book is in depth and will come in handy." She said, slipping it under the crook of her arm. 'I'm Joseliel, Josi." She said, putting her hand out. The boy was young, probably the same age as her. "Are you from Hogwarts?" She asked, turning back to the shelves.

Josi lifted things up, poked and touched, everything was disgusting, evil and strangely interesting. She opened a small silver chest and was shocked to see the skull of a cat in there. It was painted in small tribal patterns. Creepy, and slightly stomach turning, she closed it and then took another quick look, the cats ears were still on the skull, all leathery and, well... Dead.

"I'm in Slytherin... You?" Josi asked, trying to make the start of a potential conversation. She picked up a vial which contained dragons blood, she walked along and grabbed a small velvet bag filled with small phoenix feathers. God only knows what she'd use them for, but they were small and beautiful. Josi had always been been enthralled by the weird and wonderful.

He grinned, knowingly, as the girl failed to add quite why that book would come in handy. Not that it mattered, he of course owned a good many obscure books and ingredients in his portmanteau. Many of which were also left off of the school's recommendations.

"That there books' not for sale to a young un such as you.." began Callughan, clearly missing the point that Kievan were having a conversation. Kievan rolled his eyes at Josi and then turned around, setting a steely glare on the shop owner.

"Charge it to our account." he said, purposefully leaving out any pleasentries. He turned back to the Slytherin, and answered, "Gryffindor." he said, but managed to keep from pulling a tongue.

Aside from the age-old 'rivalry' between the two houses, Kievan had found them to be rather alike. Thus, after reading much on the subject, decided he were placed decently enough, and shouldn't dwell on the fact anymore. No matter what his Grandfather thought on the matter.

"Consider it a goodwill gift." he said, nodding to the book in her arms, and headed in the direction of the acrid-smelling powders for flesh wounds.

Josi glanced out of the corner of her eye. The old shop keeper was not happy.

"Thankyou Kievan, for your thoughtfulness. I didnt think I'd actually find anyone else from Hogwarts down this end of London." She said with a smile. Josi slipped the goodwill gift into her bag and continued around the other side of the shelf... Fungus medicines, used to inflict pain, rather than cure. She'd encountered these as a child, and played many practical jokes on her brother, harmless ones of course.

"This book will be useful for Quidditch. Not the school one mind you, I didnt make it onto the team... I mean the weekend kind, lots of blood, lots of injuries. I've been playing for about 3 years now. I'm becoming immune to the pain."She said with a laugh as she browsed over the jars of poisonous boiled candy, cleverly disguised in colourful wrappers and smells. 'Definitely dont want to be a kid in a candy shop right now.' She thought to herself.

"So, what are you doing down here? Its the weekend I know, but are you here for anything in particular?" She asked. Josi couldnt exactly work out if Kievan worked here, or was just here doing an odd job.
