Title: Next class

Prof. Aaron Lunaran - March 1, 2005 05:23 AM (GMT)
Prof. Aaron Lunaran waved his wand cheerily at the shades, letting them zip upwards, dust clouds exploding into the room. This dust he quickly sent out the window to settle in the dirt. Light now streamed into the room, setting the stage for the lesson of the day. Ambience now settled, Aaron turned and wrote the topic of the day on the chalkboard.

"Minor curses- Tarantellagra and Rictusempra"

This was always a fun lesson to teach, simply because of the nature of the two spells. There was something downright hilarious about spells that made you dance uncontrollably, or laugh equally so.

Now Aaron turned towards the empty class and waited for his students.

Damon Vaughn - March 6, 2005 12:10 AM (GMT)
Damon was sleepy since he'd just woke up from a nap in his last class, but he always looked forward to DADA classes, so he perked up a little when he walked through the door. He nodded a greeting to the professor, then took a seat in the back of the class.

DADA and Potions were his favorite classes, each for opposite reasons, which stemmed from the subtle duality of his personality. He liked using his talent for potions for corrupt reasons, but he also loved the order that was established through defense. He didn't claim any expertise in either area, however. Rather, he was willing to listen and observe, to soak in as much as he possibly could about the subjects, so that he not only learned, but understood them fully. Sometimes, this allowed him to catch onto things quickly, where as other times - usually, when things got really complicated - it only caused him more confusion.

He hooked his feet in the rungs under the desk in front of him. He was obviously the first person to show up for this class, so that meant he got to kick back for a little while, and wait to see who else showed up.

Hotaru Ryu - March 6, 2005 12:41 AM (GMT)
Hotaru walked into the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom; her mood was that of blue calmness, nothing was bothering her today. For now. She sat down quickly, giving a nod towards the teacher and looked up at what they were doing. Great, she thought to herself, My favorite spells. She thought sarcastically.

Maybe I should join the Dueling Club or something. Hotaru had been told many times to join the dueling club. She had had experience dueling before for practice with her mother, and then a few classmates. The hardest apponent yet had been Hadrian, but she had had fun playing with him while she could. He was good, seeing as how he could take several flying objects on all at once. She supposed multitasking was in his favor.

Hotaru placed her hand calmly in her lap, waiting for class to begin. She was becoming bored now, wishing desperatly for it to begin.

Eavend Lunarius - March 9, 2005 11:01 PM (GMT)
A small sigh escaped Eavend as she dropped her bookbag onto a desk and sat down, idly brushing a quill up and down her fingertips as she looked at the board to see what she would be learning today. Minor Curses? Well... that seems, er, interesting, she thought as she recalled the purpose behind the two spells.

Laughing and dancing... hm, you know, those would be quite unorthodox in a real duel, the Hufflepuff mused. But 'twould be quite effective, I expect... Rictusempra would be, certainly. Not as if you can concentrate on much while you're in an uncontrollable fit of laughter. She stopped the train of thought abruptly with an Eavend, stop thinking so far ahead. Honestly, every time you start learning about a new spell or charm you start thinking "how can I use this in a fight." It's not as though you're going to be attacked.

Or is it? spoke a sly voice, making the prefect roll her eyes. I was half-asleep, Methina, and jumping on someone's head while they're trying to finish an essay doesn't count as a perilous attack.

I'm insulted, the feline replied indignantly, and said no more. With a slight smile, Eavend continued playing with the quill as she glanced around for more people to show up.

Corbin Marahawk - March 15, 2005 05:39 PM (GMT)
Clutching his wand tightly in his left hand he walked into the Defense against the dark arts classroom, hoping that they would be doing practical work today. This one was on Corbin’s favourite classes.

Other than Flying, he found this amusing. People falling off brooms. Also because it was a great time to practise flying for quiditch, one of Corbin's favourite sports. The Professor was Professor Aaron Lunaran.

Taking a seat at a desk, close to the front. Corbin sat and waited patiently, staring at the board. "Hello.." He then said. Where are so few people here? Corbin wondered, as he had just seen a group of people fly down the corridors.

Felicia Hartwick - March 16, 2005 04:09 AM (GMT)
Felicia looked up from her parchment when she heard someone say hello. She had been in our little world as she copies the days lesson onto her parchment.

"Minor curses- Tarantellagra and Rictusempra"

She had shrugged when she wrote the spells down, "I guess they could come in handy" she whispered as she underlined the words.

She looked around and saw that the classroom had started to fill up. There was Hotaru, Eavend, Damon and the person who's voice had finallyt made her look up.

"Hello." she answered back, not really knowing if it was she he was adddressing.

Ally Larson - March 16, 2005 08:33 AM (GMT)
Ally walked into Defense Against the Dark Arts and took her usual seat at the back. There was a couple of students in the room that she didn't recoginse but she knew the others. She pulled out her wand and placed her bag on the floor. Wonder what we're doing this lesson, she thought, but her question was answered when she glanced at the board.
"Minor curses- Tarantellagra and Rictusempra"
Dang, I've already been on the recieving end of the Tarantellagra curse, she thought with a tiny groan.
She's had that pleasure a little while ago when the school had held a dueling competition. Of which she had lost to her partner, but had been glad it was over at the same time.

Corbin Marahawk - March 16, 2005 09:05 PM (GMT)
"Hello." He then heard someone say, the voice echoing through in his head. Looking up at the girl, he froze. In his head he couldn’t think of words to say, or how to say them, all he focused on was the girl. He then noticed other boys and girls that had filled the classroom. Ones that he had never met before.

Taking out a piece of parchment and a quill that was placed in his bag earlier that morning. He took his quill and quickly wrote down the spells that had just been read out by another student.

“I'm Corbin," He then finally said, he hadn’t thought about how to approach the situation, other than to introduce himself. As a normal greeting would. I wonder what her name is.. Surely she will introduce herself.. Corbin thought to himself, as he looked over at the rest of the class. Hoping he wasn’t missing anything important.

Felicia Hartwick - March 16, 2005 10:01 PM (GMT)
Sorry to have startled you." Felicia said to Corbin, who finally seemed to have found his voice. "I'm Felicia, nice to meet you."

She looked up at the front of the classroom to see if they would have a few minutes to chat before the class actually started. Professor Lunaran was still at his desk, and there were still more students filling in, so she figured they would have a few minutes.

"This is one of my favorite classes." she whispered to him, " "How about you?" As she wanted for an answer, she pulled her wand out of her robe and placed it close by her on her desk. Seems like we're be using it this lesson. she thought to herself, and then quickly adding, He's kind of cute.

Corbin Marahawk - March 16, 2005 10:11 PM (GMT)
"I'm Felicia, nice to meet you." She had introduced herself. Ah she is a Head Prefect.. He then noticed looking at the badge on her robes. "This is one of my favourite classes." she had then whispered to him. "Erm, I guess this is one of mine to." Corbin then said. Then clearly not knowing what else to say, stayed quiet for a reaming minute or so.

Watching Felicia, she had taken out her wand. It had seem to be wise to take out his also, reaching into his pocket he felt a piece of paper. He took it out. It read..

Overdue Library book,

Potions are out life..

To be returned as soon as possible.

Grumbling something to himself, he then screwed the piece of paper up and returned it back to his pocket, then taking out his wand, placing it on the desk beside him. "So.." Corbin began to say. He wasn’t very good with words. But at least he tried. "So, can I copy your notes?" He then asked. Looking back up at Felicia. Smiling slightly.

Felicia Hartwick - March 16, 2005 10:35 PM (GMT)
Nice smile she thought quickly as she moved her book over to the edge of the desk so Corbin could look at the page with the days notes on it.

"There really isn't to much to copy at the moment." she replied.

She became as quiet as he had become after speaking to her. But Felicia didn't remain silent for long.

"If you would like, we could meet in the library tonight and go over the notes from today's lesson." she asked shyly. "You know make sure we got everything. And you could return that book too. Sorry, I noticed the library return parchment you had there."

She nearly held her breath waiting for an answer, hoping he would agree.

Corbin Marahawk - March 17, 2005 05:42 PM (GMT)
"If you would like, we could meet in the library tonight and go over the notes from today's lesson." She had asked him.

"Well, I guess.." Corbin began to say. Taking a deep breath. "Yeah sure," Corbin then smiled as with dark grin swept a cross his face. Replying to her suggestion.

Wow, I have got a really Pretty girl here. I must not do anything wrong.. Corbin thought to himself, he was also extremely cautious when it came to people now days. With his family background he found it hard to trust people.

"Yeah, I have had this book for ages, haven’t really read it much.." He laughed slightly. "So, is that one of the places you mostly, hang out?" He asked, as he was quite new at Hogwarts he hadn’t seen much of the castle. Or been many places to class then as a place he goes often.

Felicia Hartwick - March 17, 2005 10:28 PM (GMT)
Felicia nodded in answer to Corbin's question about the library, she was aslo checking to see whether the Professor was ready to start class yet. But it didn't look like it, so she leaned over to him to continue their conversation.

"Yes, that's one place. There's a little table I like to use there. It's tucked away in the back close to a window but nicely hidden behind a huge bookcase." she tried to explain to him the location, "We can meet there at 7, after dinner.

She ripped out a piece of parchment from the roll in front of her and quickly wrote the directions to the library table and the time. She picked ip out and blew on the almost died ink and then passed it to him.

"Then when it's nice outside, there's that little hill in front of the lake to sit and relax." she told him of her other favorite spot, hoping that come the nice weather, he'd like to join her.

Corbin Marahawk - March 18, 2005 12:29 PM (GMT)
He listened to her descritption about her place in the library. Its sounds like shehas been here for a while.

Corbin thought to him self, whistling descreetly for somthing to fill the time. Looking down at his watch, he noticed that the class had been in session for about twenly miniutes, and all he had done was have a private chat, and copied some notes down.

"Sounds nice," He looked away. "So have you been here long?" He asked Felicia, this can also mean, you age. So i was answering many questions at once.

-ooc- sorry will add more, later also i appologise for spellings! I was on the computers at school, and had to rush off-

Felicia Hartwick - March 18, 2005 09:29 PM (GMT)
Felicia kept stealing glances up at the front of the room, watching to see if the Professor was going to start the class sometime soon. She smiled at the little tune thar Corbin was whistling as they waited. When the Professor didn't look like he was going to start, Felicia decided to answer Corbins question.

"I'm a Fifth year." she said, "This is the only magically school I've ever attended. Mother and Father both went here, so even with me living in the States, I was allowed to attend."

She took another look at the front of the classroom before continueing, "I'll be 16 this May"

There was a slight pause in theconversation again, so she started to doodle on her parchment. After drawing wings on the little dragon she had drawn, she asked Corbin the same question.

"How about you? Are you new to the school or is it that it's just that our paths haven't crossed before this."

Corbin Marahawk - March 19, 2005 02:20 PM (GMT)
A fifth year.. Good He thought to himself. Corbin was also a fifth year. He had transferred from another school to Hogwarts when his family had moved. "I'm in the fifth year also." He smiled, looking Felicia up and down, smiling to himself as he did so.

Oh I am just wasting my time, she wouldn’t be interested in someone like me.. Corbin then thought, she wouldn’t want to waste her time on someone like Corbin, so it was pointless. He didn’t want to say something and get rejected. He also knew that she wouldn’t say anything to him either.

But I guess the Library is a great idea so I can get to know her a little bit better, and she an get to know me.

"Well, erm." He mumbled to himself. "I have just transferred here, so I guess we haven’t met before." He told her, thinking of what to say next. As he hadn’t had contact with a girl like this before.

Felicia Hartwick - March 20, 2005 01:24 AM (GMT)
A transfer student, that's why I haven't seen him around Felicia thought during the silence that followed his explaination. When he wasn't looking, a smile spread on her face when she noticed him giving her the once over.

Typical male

But she glanced over at him and returned the once over. Very cute... and extreme shy... or stand offish. I wonder why?

Felicia tried to think of something to draw him out into a conversation of some kind. What would a young man be interested in? she thought and then answered herself, Quiditch

"Do you play Quidditch?" she whispered to him, not wanting to bother the rest of the class.

Prof. Aaron Lunaran - April 5, 2005 03:10 AM (GMT)
"Alright class, it is time to begin today's lesson. We will be studying the slightly humorous, but very effective spells, Tarantellagra and Rictusempra. Now, can anyone tell me what the effects of these two spells are?" Aaron asked, standing up in front of his desk as he usually did.

Let's see what we've got to work with here. See who's got the brains and who's just here because it sounded like fun? He thought to himself, looking around the room. Alright, how about... You!

He pointed at Corbin and asked him to answer the question.

"Please stand up and face the class as you answer, if you'd be so kind." Aaron said.

Corbin Marahawk - April 5, 2005 11:02 AM (GMT)
The Professor had pointed up at him to answer the first question. He had only attended this lesson the once at today was that time. He didn’t want to explain why he might no know, but instead he looked through all his knowledge to find the answer.

Piece of cake, I must have done this before in my other school..

He thought, as the answer came to him. Pushing his chair from behind him he stood up and looked around the room finding a comfortable position to face the class.

"I think the answer is.. erm.." He mumbled. "From what I have been taught the answer is that the Tarantellagra spell is a dancing charm which can blind victim's legs together. Also the Rictusempra is simply a tickling charm." He told the class edging back into his seat hoping that his answer was correct.

Prof. Aaron Lunaran - May 28, 2005 07:10 PM (GMT)
"Very good Mister..." Aaron checked his list, "Oh yes, my apologies. Mister Marahawk. Your answers were indeed correct. Now, who can tell me what these two curses might be useful for, other than practical jokes and absolutely wonderful punishment for misbehaving students!" He voice rose in pitch and got quite frightening, then returned to normal. "Just kidding of course!"

He walked around the room and finally decided that Felicia should answer the question.

"Felicia, what would you say that these two curses could be used for in a real life situation?" He asked.

Artimiss Rose - July 7, 2005 05:14 AM (GMT)
Artimiss slid into the classroom. She had been up in the owlery, carrying on a coversation with a couple of the birds. I hope no one notices how late I am. She heard them talking about the Tarantellagra and Rictusempra charms. Oh gosh... She thought, I never learned about those, heard of them... but what are they?

Making sure no one was looking, she quietly pulled her books out and started looking through them, taking notes on what was being said in the class. She could hear the other students whispering awnsers to each other. Arti took note of it all. Rufieo.... Do you remember anything I talked about from the old school? Mainly stuff on the Tarantellagra and Rictusempra charms? <<No... Leave me alone, I am hunting.... Silly girl...>> He replied. Artimiss sat there. Looking for the awnsers... But she couldn't find anything....

Prof. Aaron Lunaran - July 7, 2005 06:14 AM (GMT)
Aaron turned his head to look at the latecomer. She came in quietly and sat down with her books and began studying the current topic. He was going to let her off the hook, but decided to ask her the question that was on the floor. He looked at his list and found the person that had not been marked off yet. Artimiss Rose was her name.

"Miss Rose, would you care to answer the question? What would the curses Rictusempra and Tarantellagra be used for in real life?" He looked at her expectantly. The class seemed extremely quiet today. Perhaps there had been some sort of party the night before? Whatever the reason, everyone seemed like they needed something to wake them up.

"Well, while you answer that, why doesn't everyone stand up. We're going to be doing some demonstrations. I am going to cast Rictusempra on you and we will see who can stop laughing the fastest." Aaron said.

Artimiss Rose - July 7, 2005 06:15 PM (GMT)
Artimiss's eyes got really big. He didn't just call on me did he? She thought.... "Ummm.... I guess you could use the Tarantellagra to escape from someone who was chasing after you... and the Rictusempra charm at parties, to make people who are standing in the shadows come out and laugh?" She replied to the professor, feeling like there was a big question mark over her head.

Gosh I hope I didn't just make a fool out of myself for that.... Rufieo where are you? <<Back in the owlery... I caught a rat that was almost my size, you would have been proud of me!>> Artimiss could feel herself smile while she communicated with Rufieo. The class was standing up, so she too decided it ought be best to follow.

Prof. Aaron Lunaran - July 7, 2005 09:34 PM (GMT)
Aaron nodded and chuckled slightly at Artimiss' response.

"Well, Miss Rose, I think that both of those were good answers, but perhaps a better answer for the use of Rictusempra would be to keep someone from casting a spell of their own." He motioned for her to stand in front of him. "Now, let me demonstrate. I will cast Rictusempra on you, and you will try to cast a spell, any spell on me. Alright? Here we go now."

He stepped back a few steps and pointed his wand at her and said, "Rictusempra."

Let's see how she handles this one. I don't know that anyone in here has the willpower to stop laughing. We shall see though. Aaron thought.

Artimiss Rose - July 8, 2005 03:55 AM (GMT)
Artimiss began to laugh quietly at first. It actually tickled.... It was annoying. Then the sensation grew and grew. Arti found herself laughing so hard it started to hurt her sides.

Rufieo! Rufieo! I need you... what is a spell with a short name!? She waited for her owl to reply. It was getting hard to breath, it was sooo funny. Actually there was nothing funny about it. <<Try the confundus charm.>>

Artimiss took a short breath before she started laughing again, and with all her might she pointed her wand at Professor Aaron Lunaran, "Confundo!"

Artimiss wasn't sure if she hit him or not, but at least she got a spell out there. That might have worked, I owe you a rat. She thought to Rufieo... <<Anything for you...>> But the tickleing was getting more intense. "Aggghhh...." She screamed.

Prof. Aaron Lunaran - July 8, 2005 04:11 AM (GMT)
Aaron easily cast a Protego shield to block the charm, but was impressed that she had managed to get the spell out, with how hard she was laughing. He smiled and waited a few seconds more, then pointed his wand at her once more.

"Finite." He cast, stopping the spell. "Now do you see how hard it is to cast a spell when afflicted with the Tickling Charm? Everyone take note however, as Miss Rose here showed extraordinary willpower to be able to cast a spell at all. Excellent work Miss Rose." He smiled and motioned for her to sit down and rest. Laughing was hard work afterall.

He turned to the next person in line and held out his wand.

"Are you ready? Time to laugh." He said, and cast Rictusempra again.

Sofie Vogeldorf - July 27, 2005 06:57 AM (GMT)
Sofie sat quietly in the back of the room as she listened intently to the Professor as he asked different questions she found it all very interesting and was excited to see what would happen. He asked Corbin about the Tartangellara and Rictusempra spells were used for. He pleased the teacher with the correct answer.

The professor was in the middle of asking Felicia a question when Artimiss Rose, a fellow ravenclaw slipped into the room. Sofie watched as she walked from the door to her seat. She prayed to for Ravenclaw's sake that she wasn't caught, as she didn't know if the Professor would take points away for her being late to class.

It was then that the professor announced that he wanted everybody to stand up as he was going to see who could stop laughing the fastest. Sofie's insides clenched up, she hated being tickled with a passion. She kept thinking of the Protego charm over and over again, as she didn't want to get Rictusempra cast on her. She watched as Artimiss showed great will power in fighting the charm, but she still could't cast a spell. Sofie concentrated even harder wanting to catch him, before he cast the spell on her. It was then that Professor Lunaran turned on Sofie and said "Are you ready? Time to Laugh" Sofie's heart beat a little faster and she raised her wand arm and thought the spell over once more. Protego she said with confidence in her head and was about to say it out loud when the professor said "Rictusempra" she braced herself to start laughing, but the spell seemed to almost bounce off of her. She looked at her wand in her hand then back to the teacher, a little dumb founded, her nonverbal magic that was taught to her in her first two years of Stabzauber, the german wizarding school, rarely ever showed that it exsisted.
