Title: A question

Ilona Littrell - January 4, 2005 05:15 AM (GMT)
Hi!

I'm new and am writing on my character description.
I was wondering, is being of Elvish heritage considered being a special request? Or can I ask for an ability too?

I was planning on having an ability connected to elfs, but I'm not sure...

Hope it's not too stupid...

Ilona

Being part-elf is not considered a special request as far as I know. I certainly wouldn't consider it one. So you certainly may request a special ability. Some I might suggest are perhaps requiring only a few hours of sleep per night, or maybe being extra-flexible and dextrous.

At any rate, elvish heritage is not a special request, just be sure and keep mary-sue-ish qualities in check when designing your character. What I mean is that being part-elf is a pretty rare and special thing, so you won't want to add many other special and rare things to your character. It would be silly if we had a bunch of telepathic half-elf metamorphmagi running around, you know? I know that's unrelated to your quesiton, but it's a handy guideline to keep in mind.

*pokes*
I'm half elvish (from dad's side), but I kinda tend to forget about it
Just to give an example, the only thing I mentioned in my description is that I can walk soundlessly. Sometimes I can roleplay that I have a better hearing, but that's really rare. So yeah Btw, Welcome to HPU
