Like most anime, Hamtaro came out with 3 or so OVAs. These are straight to video hamtaro specials that aren't released on TV. The one I'm gonna be talkiing about is Hamutarou no Otanjoubi, Mama wo Tazunette 3000 Techi Techi. For the Japanese illiterate, Hamtaro's Birthday Special, Search for his Mom(something something, I dunno). I dunno what "techi" is, but thats not important.

The story starts out with hamtaro learning that laura got him a long time ago from her old kindergarten teacher. While showing Hamtaro some pictures, she comes across what Laura claims to be Hamtaro's mother. Hamtaro went to the clubhouse quickly, and got help from Boss and Oxnard to get any leads to his mom. While they are gone, Bijou and the others plan a surprise birthday party for hamtaro.

I didn't post this on my site because:
1. I was doing Movie 2 info.
2. I'm was too lazy to do it after.

A lot of the secondary characters from the series, such as pepper, make appearences. And yeah Lila, like I said, Sabu is in this one, and plays a prominent role in helping hamtaro.

I heard there's gonna be an english version of this next week. It's gonna be on Sunday, at 2:30 PM. I saw it on the TV. It's the Hamtaro Birthday Special. So maybe that's the one you're talking about? I don't know. But they're looking for treasure. Did the hamhams have anything to do about looking for it in the special?

They weren't looking for treasure in the one I'm talking about. They are in the second one im currently getting.

Edit: I'm changing what I posted earlier. What you said was right, and that was the Second OVA, after that, it showed a piece cut from the first OVA. The first part of the Hamtaro special, had some parts cut out of it. It's not too significant, but parts were cut none the less. In my opinion, they would have been better off just playing the entire first OVA.

I knew that lila would flip when he read that Sabu was gonna be in the OAV! Remeber to breath Lila! Sabu's pretty cool i must admit, but boss rocks them all! :D
