Title: High School
Description: Was it/do you think it'll be fun?
PinkDagger - August 4, 2003 02:23 AM (GMT)
For the older members in or out of high school, did you find it fun? For US students, I suppose that would basically be senior high. And for the younger ones, do you think it'll be fun?
Personally, from what I've seen, I won't have fun. Chances are, I'll be getting lost in the halls and being late for my classes, but the classrooms look so crappy and don't look interesting at all. I took business, and when I went to explore the halls, I found the business room. The computers are just as crappy as the ones at my elementary school, and the chairs are all broken and stuff. The only part I suspect the slightest about having fun in is Japanese, next year. And even with that, I'd be the only person I know who is actually taking that class. Everyone else is taking Spanish, because it's "more useful" because of our neighbouring United States and all. I could really care less, and I take more interest in Asia anyways. Now, I've heard lots of adults say high school is the best four years of your life.. But how so? Some of them could've had horrible grades, been teased, beat up, etc., for reasons we'd never know. And one of my "friends" *coughfasmtcough* tells me I'll have such a blast in high school next year. Highly doubted...
Pandemonium - August 4, 2003 07:11 AM (GMT)

Moki Moki - August 4, 2003 04:24 PM (GMT)
I'm going to 12th grade after this break.
I hope I graduate, then I'll go to an art only college
Then I'll get a job to earn some cash so I can buy anime, art supplies, and other things that is too personal for any publis human to understand.
B)
In the meanwhile, I'm just living life as is...high school was/ is the toughest days of my life in work and so on. I was always at the edge of failing, but then for some miracle I tend to pass and successfully.
hamster dude - August 4, 2003 04:47 PM (GMT)
ive still got 9 more years of school coz im only 9
Otacon - August 4, 2003 05:42 PM (GMT)
I'm not sure about you guys, but high school has been one of the best times of my life. My grades soared since junior high, I've made a lot of friends(especially ones that loan me anime dvds :D ), the proms and dances were the best, and I've been to more parties in high school than my entire schooling period before. I'm taking japanese in High School also, and it wasn't as hard as i thought it would be. I can understand your view PinkDagger, just try to hope for the best. You never know how things will turn out.
Caiterz - August 5, 2003 05:37 AM (GMT)

PinkDagger - August 8, 2003 04:53 AM (GMT)
I'm in Canada, if you bothered reading my first post, stating that I wasn't in the states or anything. Our elementary schools go up to grade eight, and junior and senior high are mushed together as just plain high school to go on grades nine to twelve. I'm turning fourteen this December.
Rivermonster - August 8, 2003 05:44 PM (GMT)
My schools went Elementary-K-5, Middle/junior high-6-8, and I just graduated 8th, about to be a Freshman. Kinda lookin forward to it... takin a couple computer and literature classes and stuff, might be alright. But GAH! My schedule, the times I wake up and go to bed and stuff, I swear I'm gonna explode. Ah well, I like a challenge.
InkyGirl - August 8, 2003 06:37 PM (GMT)
in ct-elem-1-6, midd-7+8, high 9+, i tink. i am so sueing middle school. putting me in advanced classes. how depressing.
Evil Pashmina - August 8, 2003 07:25 PM (GMT)
My high school is mostly new (only built a few years ago). I am going in next year. I don't think my school even teaches Japanese, only french and spanish.
My schools go like this: Intermedite (some thing like that)- K-2 Elem-3-5 Middle- 6-8 High- 9-12
I have to go through 4 different buildings for my whole school thing. Nooo!
I could be going into 9th because when i was in 2nd I wasn't learning anything because I was too smart. haha. My parents didn't let me go ito 3rd. :D

Well, I personally think that college/later life will be funner and better than school in general, no matter WHAT most adults say, but in all honesty, High school is /THE BEST/ school. They treat you like adults; you can do more stuff, like actually chew gum in class and stuff, the lunches are a MILLION times better, you get to choose from like 4 different things every day, there's more food and you can sit wherever in the lunchroom you want or even outside at my school, you get a /LOT/ more control over what classes you take, and some are really fun, and since you'ire older and more responsible you FINALLLY get to do kick-butt stuff in science, that you've waited all these years for (or at least I did ^_^)
I dunno if you'll be jumping for joy, Dagger, but I really think you'll like it, at least MORE than earlier years. oh, and did I mention you only have to take PE one semester out of all 4 years and that's it?

HAHAHAHA!!!! That remidns me of what happened last year!^-^ I can't wait for the skool of height
Rivermonster - August 8, 2003 10:52 PM (GMT)
Only gotta take PE one semester, but man, at my school football is a HUGE program. You get a lotta recognition for playing on the team, and even more for playing well. I'm seriously looking forward to some of the electives you get though, as well as some of the AP classes, Like Geometry and Chemestry, and computer/advanced computer science, and Latin. Stuff like that, it'll be at least a great deal more interesting than the previous grades.
(reply 1000 to this forum, woot.)
PinkDagger - August 9, 2003 03:00 AM (GMT)
Even so, I'd much rather not take PE at all. Lowest. Marks. Ever. For me, that is. My neighbour got a friggin 35 on her English [easiest class to me], and I had to write a story for her. *coughfastmcough* I'm sure I will have some fun in certain classes, but not alot of them. The ones I can sinch.. That's all. The worst part about this is that.. Well, I've seen alot, and I mean ALOT, of huge morons my age, but even more at the high school I'm going to. And so many of them are stoners, which almost scares me that teenagers can be so stupid these days. Then there's me being short.. ;_______; I'll be trampled and, mostly, by idiots. And I also regret something. I took art, since we had a choice between art and music. That was when I was.. What you would call "dedicated" to art. I'm not too into drawing anymore, but I can't really get out of it. Once I think though, I'm not really a horn-tooty person. I'd do the piano, but piano isn't a choice. -_-
And then there's dances. Oh God, DANCES. If you don't go, you're labelled 'uncool'. Nuts to them. The dances suck anyways. And there are also Cyberzone dances at this school. Those suck even more. There's little seven year olds walking around in tube tops and g-strings and thongs hiked up on their hips with their skimpy pants low-low-low rise. It sickens me. The music is not near my interest as well.
What else.... Everyone says there's gonna be alot of hot guys there... That's what I care least about, honestly.
How long are everyones' classes? Ours are going to be eighty minutes long and there are four each day. We have to be in around 8, and I have no idea what time we get out. I also don't know when we starts or get our timetables. I'm so screwed... X_X And the rest of my class. NO ONE knows when school starts or when we get our timetables and go to buy PE uniforms or go loan books for the year. Yup. *collapses*
Quixotic Muffin - August 9, 2003 03:48 AM (GMT)
I'm gonna be a senior.
Yeah, school is good.
Life is good.
iggy - August 9, 2003 04:52 AM (GMT)
Well I liked highschool a lot. I mean, somehow I always had friends in all my classes and that's really what makes it fun. Stupid things like me and my friend selling tests to the class to help them cheat were just hilarious. I was pretty average in my grades. I learnt a lot from highschool but I wish I hadn't been so shy back then. Band trips were amazing, we went to Banff to ski, and Calgary was a blast, especially when my friend puked 3 liters of milk trying to drink it all in one shot :D There were a lot of speeches to give which I dreaded, but I always came out of them with good marks and a feeling of relief.
I think the best things to do when going into highschool is to
1) get to know the hallways good (they become easy after the first week)
2) talk to and joke around with your friends as much as you can
3) spend a good amount of time on homework
So yeah! I'm sure highschool will be great for you PD just go in with a positive attitude about it.

Wow, you're REALLY overreacting to it, I think. I was so worried bout HS before I went, but even the very first day wasn't very hard or weird at all. I had to ask where a few classes were, that's it. And look, you only have to take PE one more time in yoru WHOLE life, for only half a year. I think you can do it, and if you keep telling yourself it's the LAST time you EVER have to take it, I think you'll do well.
There's a ton of idiots and potheads here, too, but it's easy to avoid/ignore them. There's really nothing to worry about in that department.
Short? I know plenty of short kids at my school, they don't get "trampled"--The Volcano., I WISH i were smaller, the short/skinny kids can zip through crowdded halls like butter, lol
Dances do suck. You don't get laballed as "uncool" for not going to them here, but probably less cool than you would if you went =/ Alas, I've never been to one, and nerds like myself have no place there anyway...and you're about to go to highschool and are intellegent, so I don't think you have to worry about popularity issues.
Hot guys? Umm...all throughout school, some guys/girls look good, some guys/girls don't....and since everyone's all young and stupid, only the good-looking people get into relationships...but those relationships don't matter at all as they're for popularity or sex, and not love, and usually last 2 weeks tops....well, this paragraph may be somewhat harsh, but it's true by what I've seen =/
My classes are each about an hour and a half long, and I have 4 a day. It starts at 8:10 and ends at 3:10. That's even less time spent in school than middle school O_O For me, at least
Well, at my school, we get books as the teachers give them to us after school starts, and we don't need uniforms for PE (though we are encouraged to change for it). So i dunno about that, but you shouldn't have to worry abotu getting your class schedule or anything like that, they should give them out in homeroom on the first day of school. Yeah, I guess you should find some time to go up ther and find your homeroom and stuff, but they shuold have that posted somewhere to look at on the first day, anyway...and I'm SURE you'll find out when the first day is, lol, that's one of those things that just GET to people no matter what.
Overall, I don't think you have much to worry about and I still think you will have a BETER time, at least ^^
And River, I think Football is a "huhge thing" at EVERY highschool, especially down south =/ Actually, I was asked repeatedly to join it in middle AND high school because of my size, but it's /really/ not my thing...of course, if I joined it anyway, I'd be a lot more popular and possibly less self-loathing, but ah well.
Quixotic Muffin - August 10, 2003 12:34 AM (GMT)
oo00oo self-loathing... *drool*
PinkDagger - August 10, 2003 01:01 AM (GMT)
We're supposed to go in preceeding to the beginning of school to get our schedules so we can find, out first of all, what our homeroom is.
pandas_girlfriend - September 21, 2003 07:36 AM (GMT)
I 'm scared of going to highschool cos of the teachers............I won't c Geneva for a very long time X(
Pandemonium - September 21, 2003 09:19 AM (GMT)
what age is highschool for you guys?
PinkDagger - September 21, 2003 03:54 PM (GMT)
When we go into high school? For me, everyone is usually 14, unless they're like me and have a late birthday. Then, 13. It's grade 9 to 12.
So far, it's not too bad... I would still rather me in elementary though. :\ My teachers are nice from what I've seen, and every Friday, I get 80 minutes of sleep in French first semester. We watch movies, and everyone falls asleep anyways. Thank God no one snores or we'd probably stop getting movies, or getting to watch horrible French-dubbed movies with the lights off. Cept the people there really are jackasses... And you can smell drugs/sm0king everywhere. It's sickening. Elementary.. Better. I still go and visit my elementary school sometimes though. :}
WHY THE heck DOES SM0KING GO TO EATING!? O-O
Bijou - September 22, 2003 07:54 PM (GMT)
I don't like High School myself, it's too... Well, lets just say my best friend in kindagarden and my best friend in 6th grade got caught drinking alcohal in Art today and are suspended for 2 days. It's too... I don't know, I don't see how others can stand it, I mean, I'm always late for class, my classmates don't know anything about me and refuse to try to learn, and me, I just want to draw/write. I just want to be left alone.
But then someone comes up to me and talks to me. Like today Steve was | | close to hugging me for no reason at all, and then some kid whom I strongly dislike has a crush on me, and then Karen is ganna go Egg my 7th grade teacher's house (I hope she dose) and... I think I'm under estimating it though.
PinkDagger - September 23, 2003 07:41 PM (GMT)
Your friend getting caught with alcohol reminds me of how much my old friends have changed. -_- Another downer. Those aren't the people I became friends with so-and-so years ago.
Mackswell - September 30, 2003 04:08 PM (GMT)
Eh, might as well throw in my two cents.
High school for me was kinda unorthodox, because I switched schools after the 10th grade. Private Christian school was getting pricey big time, so I left and went to the city high school. It wasn't that big a deal, I guess, because I'm so shy. What really stunk, though, was that I was just getting to know some folks and then BAM! Graduation time. Oh well.
*hugs Bijou for no reason at all*
