Anyone else play it currently?

I have been thinking about picking it up during the past few weeks. How much does it cost per month? Is there any way I can play for free?

I hear it's addictive, how true is that?

YUCK, NO.. I tried to make myself play this trash for almost 2 years, for no reason other than all my friends were playing it....but I never once liked it... I NEED a LITTLE action, and not so much "take 2 steps and die" even when I was becoming good at it. It's way too unbalanced (you can do very very very little except train until you hit level 50 or so, which is EXTREMELY hard to do), exceedingly difficult (you lose your corpse when you die and starting at level 11 I beleive lose experience, and if you don't quickly get your corpse ALL your stuff will be lost unless it was in the bank) and it's ludicrously difficult to become near as powerful as a "twink" until you have a level 60 character (a "twink" is a new character made by someone with a high-level character who has been showered with all kinds of super-high-level gear by that character, and it literally can take over a year to get to level 60--my step bro was OBSESSED with the game and played the same paladin for 2 years, and he was like level 56 when he quit)....

The group system is bad, too. You can be in a "party" of up to 6 people that may or may not help you, and near the higher-level areas it's simply IMPOSSIBLE to survive without one. In most places it's VERY VERY HARD to get into a "camp" group (or a group that surrounds an enemy spawn point), and usually not worth it as after you've waited literally 2 hours or more to get in, all the characters will end up being low-level and/or lag out or leave and the group will fall apart.

Addicting? Well, 3 of my friends played it and loved it for 2 years or more, and many people joke about "EverCrack", it's that addicting--personally, I had to FORCE myself to keep playing it, and it never dragged me in. I guess it depends.

Oh, and the cost? No, there's NO WAY to get around paying full price for EQ. Last April they jacked up the price to like $13 a month, for a crappy game at that, and you have to buy the game and at LEAST the Kunark expansion to even be able to play it. And for that huge cost, all you get is no hackers. The community is getting meaner and meaner by the minute (games like D2 have much meaner communities because any loser with a comp can play it, but EQ usually wards these off with big money payments...but they're crawling in)...and the GM's don't even pay attention to any of the servers anymore but the MORE EXPENSIVE Legends server....puh.

It's not worth it, I say. Not worth it at all.

Just ignore Sauce, hes real picky and stuff.
Yeah, its a great game, about 13 bucks a month. But yeah, be careful, it can be dangerous, it's D&D. My Bro's real hooked, I'm kinda worried about him actually...Well, if you do get on, gimme your S/N, I'm Uptrue.
