My Favorite book in the Harry Potter series would be the extremly popular third book. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. The book starts off at the Dursleys. Harry Potter is spending another horrible summer at his aunt and uncle's house trying to get by and finish his Hogwarts homework. This summer is a little better then the rest because he's getting mail from his friends.
Vernon Dursley's sister, Marjorie, comes to visit. Harry and his uncle made an agreement that if Harry did do anything unusual around Marge, and pretended to go to a school, which he had never even set for on, then Mr. Dursley would sign a permission slip for Harry to go to Hogsmeade. For in his third year Harry finds out he is able to go to Hogsmeade, the only known all wizarding village around.
Harry ends up breaking the agreement when Aunt marge is foul and he casts magic, which is illegal as an underage sorcerer. Soon harry finds himself on the run from the Ministry's eyes. He knows he is going to be expelled from Hogwarts, he had already gotten a warning not to perform magic in front of muggles.
Cornelius Fudge, the Minister of Magic, finds Harry but, to the boys asstonishment, he found out he was not going to be expelled.
It's the third year. It brings many new things. The usual new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Professor Lupin, new classes (such as Care of Magical Creatures and Divination) and various other things.
Harry and his friends look forward to quidditch, hogsmeade and all of the fun things happening that year. But they are also thinking about something rather unpleasant. For Sirius Black, a crazed prisoner of the wizarding prison, is on the loose and seems to be after Harry's life.
Dementors, evil happiness sucking feinds, are on patroll for Black.
Hermione, one of Harry's best friends, is taking an extra ordinary ammount of classes, and Harry and Ron are curious as to how she is getting to them.
We find out that Remus Lupin and Sirius Black are old friends who, because of a missunderstanding fell apart. And both were also good friends with James Potter, Harry's father. They, along with Peter Pettegrew (who turns out to be Scabbers as an Animagus, someone who can turn into an animal) make up the four Marauders of hogwarts. They created the Marauders Map which Fred and George Weasley found and have been using to get around the school. It is a complete map of Hogwarts. All of the secret passage ways and secets lay on the map, as well as little moving dots for all of the students, teachers, ghosts, et cetera that live in the school. The Weasley twins give the map to Harry who, because he didn't get a permission slip to go into hogsmeade, uses it to sneak into the village.
Sirius, James, Peter and Remus are found to all turn into differant animals. Three of witch are animagi, Remus is not but he is a wearwolf. They call themselves Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs.
We come to find that Sirius is after Peter, not Harry for the very good reason that Peter is in league with the dark lord, Voldemort. Peter betrayed James and Lily potter and handed them over to Voldemort.
Black is soon captured and soon will have one of the worst things happen to him. He will be given the Dementors Kiss, which is a horrible fate of having your soul sucked out of you through your mouth by a Dementor.
Harry learns of Hermione's Secret, a time turner. Time turners give the bearer the power to go back in time, a very dangerous tool only entrusted to certain indeviduals. Hermione and Harry have to go back in time to save Buckbeak, a befriended Hippogriff who is to be beheaded for un valid reasons, and Sirius from the dementors kiss.
They succeed in saving both and make it back to the school.
Professor Lupin has to leave hogwarts because the public has now found out about his secret of being a wearwolf.
In the end Gryffindor wins both the house and quidditch cup. And the happiness dosn't end there. We found out that Sirius is Harry's godfather, and Harry is offered to come stay with him once his name is cleared. Harry now has that to look forward to as well as Hogsmeade next year, as Sirius gave Harry a permission slip.
I like this book best of all becuase you learn a lot of interesting facts about the past. What really happened with Harry's parents, a bit about who they were at Hogwarts when they were younger. The book also has many twists and turns and is very humorous. And since Hermione Granger is my favorite character, her being a main point in the end really made me happy.

Wonderful Job Sindor! I love how your report covers all the important aspects of the book. Your personal inight on the book shows how much you enjoyed reading Prisoner of Azkaban. Hermione is such a great Character, I agree, she played a major role in the third book and that caught the attention of many of her loyal fans!
