Title: Interview With J.k. Rowling

Prof. Nina Atlas - March 9, 2004 02:39 AM (GMT)
For those of you that have read the interview with J.K. Rowling, what did you think about it? I was very surprised. I am most happy to hear that there will be a new Minister of Magic, yet who do you think it could be? And why do they need a new minister? I know Cornelius was a bit stuborn in the fifth book, yet now he knows the truth.

Also learning that J.K. Rowling was orginally going to make it so that Hermione had a sister. I wonder if she would have been a muggle or a witch. I really think it would be awsome if Hermione had a younger sister who was going to attend Hogwarts. Then again, does Hogwarts need another Hermione runnign around? I think so!

The middle names were pretty interesting. Who knew Remus would have such a common middle name, Remus John Lupin. Then there was Hermione Jane Granger. Poor Ron Bilus Weasley. Why would anyone have such a middle name as Bilus?

Well, if you haven't read the interview you could check it out at the leaky cauldron http://www.the-leaky-cauldron.org

Let me know what you think about all that was revealed! :)

Oh, I loved the interview! I printed it out (10 pages!) so I could highlight things I found interesting, and show it to friends at school. *goes and finds it* Ok! Here's all the stuff I marked:

Middle names very cool, Ron's is interesting. I noticed while rereading PoA recently that Ron mentions an Uncle Bilius (the one who saw the Grim and died), he must have been named after him.

Glad that she finaly cleared up James, Sirius, and the others were all in Gryffindor, seeing as there were some rumors going around otherwise. That's one thing down to worry about.

She seems to have given 2 clues/hints on the Ron/Hermione relationship. (saying we've had enough clues by now if Harry and Herm should be together (only been clues on Ron/Herm in books so far), and Ron would like to know what happened with Hermione and Krum over the summer).

That mirror from Sirius'll probably come up again, since she didn't give an answer, so she's hiding something. Speaking of Sirius, she says she feels guilty bout killing him, and I wanna know exactly what her reasons were. I wonder if we'll find out next book, or have to wait til number 7.

I'm glad someone brought up Harry's feelings, how he basically went crazy yelling at people in OotP. By what she says, though, it seems that he won't be so angry in the future. Or at least he'll deal with his anger in a better way.

I think it's great that Hermione was planned to have a younger sister, and I really hope tha tRowling decides to put her in. I always wondered why we were never given more info about the Grangers, and I noticed it was never specifically mentioned Hermione was an only child. I also noticed in Rowling's answer, though, she doesn't say whether or not we'll get to know more about the Grangers, only answers the second question.

I'm also glad that someone asked about school before Hogwarts, since I know that's a topic that's been discussed many times before. Glad to have that cleared up as well.

Interesting that Lupin's a 1/2 blood. Dunno why, just find that interesting.

I'm wondering who the new Quidditch captain'll be now, since they may not let Ron stay on the team. Harry, Ron, and only one of the chasers'll be back for next year, right? What if Harry'll be the captain, and Rin ends up playing really poorly again, and Harry has to decide to let him stay or replace him, that'd lead to some interesting arguments.

Kinda funny how Rowling didn't comment on the importance of Harry's eyecolor, when in other interviews she's said right out that the color of his eyes'll be important. Cause his eyes are green, and Slytherin's color is green, but that's getting off on a whole new conversation...

I'd read an article earlier about Snape possibly being a vampire, and it was pretty persuasive. Rowling's response seems to leave the possibility open, but just barely.

I'm glad to see there'll be a new minister of magic! Fugde was horrible, not believing Dumbledore, looking the other way when the facts were right in his face... It's almost like he was trying to deny the fact of Voldemorts return on purpose, as if to bid his time or something.

Finally, interesting about the two unknown Gryffindor girls in Harry's year. Are these supposed to be girls in Hermione, Lavendar, and Parvati's dorm, who we just haven't met yet? How can we go through 5 books, know the others, but not these two girls? Seems weird, I'd just assumed that there were only 3 GRyffindor girls in Harry's year. If there are others, they can't be very important at all, as Rowling couldn't even remember their names.

OK, I think that's all I really had to say bout the interview. Well, I could probably say even more, but I'm tired, and have homework to finish that I neglected to type this. <_<

Hermione, I love your imput!

I agree on so much you said. I can't believe Lupin is a half blood either! What must his muggle parent have thought about him turning into a werewolf? That would be crazy.

Yeah, I was wondering about the two mystery girls as well. I knew that J.K. had five girls and five boys enter each house every year. We knew who the five boy's were but im so surprised she has left the other two girls out. I guess if they dont' play a significant role then there is no need to include them. There are all ready too many names to remember :D

It was great hearing your imput! I really enjoyed reading it. It sparks some ideas for future lessons. (Though we onyl have two left, ah, the school year went by so fast.) :(
