Let me start off by saying that I received some incredible work. It was interesting to see how differently they varied in topic. Several of you took a strong position against the sexism claims we discussed in the lesson and supported your points wonderfully. Let me remind EVERYONE that the lessons do NOT necessarily depict my views on a particular subject. The idea of the class is to discuss things that you may not have seen or considered in a leisure reading of the series. Yes, most fans would agree that Hermione is a wonderful role model and the Deputy Headmistress is a woman to respect. The point of the lesson was to introduce you to some people who had an interpretation that might seem a bit-farfetched to fans who love their books so deeply that they join an online school to meet others like them.
Do not worry that you are insulting me just because you don't agree with a lesson. This subject in particular was sure to controversial. I just ask that we all open our minds and consider things that we may not agree with because knowledge is the greatest of all tools. We cannot argue for Hermione's brilliance and importance without understanding the opposition even if their own argument might seem weak to you. Just learn to listen.
Now, with that said...onto the grades. Everyone has earned an extra 5 points of extra credit and a place in the HPBA class library so that others can read the essays and consider what you've all written. If you don't want your essay posted, please tell me. If its fine with you for it to be posted then let me know cause the people that really want them on the website will be added first.
