Book report on The Order of the Phoenix

After much reflexion, I decided to write my report on the order of the Pheonix. The Prizonner of Azkaban is still my favorite book of the serie so far, but after re-reading the Order of the Pheonix in french, I came to think that this last book is the most important of the serie because the magical world that Harry discovered and was now very confortable in, is shifting.
In Prisonner of Azkaban Harry was learning about a darker side of his world, starting to discover part of his parent’s past and starting to understand more about the adults in his life (Snape, Lupin, Sirius, Dumbledore, Fudge). In this book Harry’s life is turned upside down. Another side of the adults who are part of his life is revealed. Harry realise that they can be as weak and vulnerable as he is. Harry himself is experiencing the ups and downs of becoming a young adult and as all adolescents, he feels the frustrations and deceptions of his age but they are intensified by unexpected events that would make of Hogwarts the perfect place to rebel and fight for what he believes in.
In Lord Voldemort return, two months earlier, Harry saw a terrible menace rising is on the horizon. It would’nt be long untill he who must not be named gathered his disciples again and raise himself to be the terror he once was in the Wizarding world. The problem for Harry is that even the highest authority of the wizard community, Cornelius Fudge Minister of Magic, don’t believe him. So it’s in a state of constant worry and panic that Harry is forced once again, to spend an awful summer at his aunt and uncle’s home in Little Whinging. Forced to hide himself to catch some lines of muggles televison news, Harry spends the summer trying to hear anything that could be interpreted as Voldemort first blow. Harry’s world is once again shaked when he and his cousin Dudley are attacked by Dementors in an alley, and when his old, crazy neighbor, Msg Figg, happens to pass by and reveals herself to be a squibb. When confronted by the Dursley about the attack that they accused Harry of, Harry received an owl from the ministry informing him that he would be judge for underage use if magic. We also learn that aunt Petunia may know more that we thought about the wizard world. Harry is then “rescued” from his miserable condition at the Dursley by a group of wizards, including Remus Lupin and the real Mad eye Moody. He would come to know them as being part of the Order of the Phoenix, an ancient secret alliance of witches and wizards under Dumbledore commands, who once fight against Voldemort and that is now regrouped with some new additions.
Harry’s life change again when he is taking to 12 Grimmauld place, his godfather, Sirius Black, family house and headquarters to the Order. Harry frustration about being kept in the dark about everything is reaching is limit and the fact that Dumbledore seems to be ignoring him makes him even more angry. At his hearing Harry finds himself facing once again a closed minded Cornelius Fudge who refuse to believe he used magic to defend himself from the Dementors. Once again when Dumbledore come to the aid of Harry by being his witness, Harry his left with a feeling of abandon from Dumbledore who did’nt even spoke to him.
The school year finally starts and more changes, now in Harry’s happy life at Hogwarts, are also starting to happen. After a summer full of articles on how crazy he was to tell the world about Voldemor’s return, Harry is the center of attention once again. Nobody believe Harry, not event after ten notorious Death Eaters escape from Azkaban. The new Defense against the Dark Art teacher, Dolores Umbridge as been named by Fudge to keep a close eye on the school functionning. It’s not long before Fudge’s plans are revealed. Umbridge is there to take over the school for the ministry. Little by little, everything that Harry loved so much about Hogwarts is ripped from him. Named High Inquisitor, Umbridge terrorise the school. She starts to evaluate professors, even putting some under probation. Harry’s temper wins him many detentions with Umbridge and a glimpse of her cruelty is discovered when she makes him use a quill that write into is flesh. Harry’s hatred for Umbridge intensified when, after a fight with Malfoy she ban him from the quidditch team. Reduce by her to learn only theory about defense against the dark art, some students leaded by Harry form a secret study group, the D.A., to learn more concretely about the defense against the dark art. In a way this group become their own Order (reflecting the one that the adults made) that fights and rebels against the menace inside their school. Preocupied by recurrent dreams about a long corridor and a door, Harry is living through the stress and work load of his first major year end exams at Hogwarts: the O.W.L.S.
After seeing Mr Weasly attacked by a snake in his dreams, Harry begins to wonder if Voldemort is’nt possesing his body. After talking with Ginny and realising that it’s not the case, Harry his however left with questions unanswered. Does he feels the emotions of Voldemort like before, does he sees through his eyes or does he become one with His mind.
Another bad news adds up to Harry worries: after Christmas, on Dumbledore recommendation he’ll have to learn Occlumency under Professor Snape guidance.
Harry does not take seriously enough his occlumency lessons and his dreams are becoming more and more haunting. To add up again to his trouble, Harry is living the stress of an uneasy blossomming relationship with Cho Chang. But quickly, Harry learn that his affection for her, tangled with Cedric memory makes a difficult mixture of emotions that are especialy hard on Cho.
Betrayed by Cho’s friend, the D.A. is exposed to Umbridge who, helped by her new inquisitorial brigade composed mainly of Slytherins students, catches Harry and try to confront him in Dumbledore office in front of Fudge. Dumbledore manage to move the blame on himself , making Fudge believe that it was his idea to build an army of students against him, and is forced to escape into hinding with the help of Fawks, leaving Hogwarts without a Headmaster. Umbridge becomes then Director of Hogwarts.
After an occlumency lesson, while beeing left alone in Snape’s office, Harry dare to take a look inside the pensieve and a troubling episode of Snape and James Potter’s life is revealed to Harry. This marks another major change in Harry’life. For many years he saw in his father a source of inspiration and pride but now questions are rising in his mind about the true nature of his father. Was he really as arrogant as Snape always insinuated? Caught by a furious Snape, Harry is left without occlumency lesson and his dreams are once again more troubling.
After a memorable and splendid “flight to freedom” by Georges and fred Weasly, the school is left in chaos with a renewed envy to rebel against the power of Umbridge, that is felt not only by students, but also by the teachers.
Still disturbed by his dreams, Harry undergoes the O.W.L.S. exams. On his last test, Harry have a dream that show him Sirius being tortured by Voldemort. Harry is now conviced that his dreams takes place at the Ministry of Magic in the Departement of Mystery. A race to conviced the others and to get to London begins. Harry’s get gaught in Umbridge’s office near her fireplace while making sure that Sirius has left his home. Making her believe that an weapon for Dumbledore use is hidden in the forbidden forest, Hermione and Harry lead Umbridge deep into the forest where she is attacked by centaurs. Ridded of Umbridge Harry flee to London to rescue Sirius with the aid of Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Neville, Luna Lovegood and six of Hagrid thestrals, dark winged horses that can only be seen by those who saw death.
Arrived at the Ministry Harry and the other discover, in one of the Departement of Mystery room, a small orb containing a prophecy, labelled with the named of Harry and Voldemort. Surrounded by Death Eaters as he takes the orb in his hand Harry soon realised that his dreams was a trap set by Voldemort to bring him the to Ministry. Only him and Voldemort could take the orb being the one concerned by it. Trying to escape the Death Eaters, Hermione, Ginny, Luna and Ron are hurt, leaving a nose bledding Neville and Harry alone to fight. Being joined at the last minute by some members of the Order and Dumbledore himself, Harry ant the other escape the wrath of the Death Eaters. Unfortunately Sirius faith was otherwise. He fell to the hand of his own cousin, Bellatrix Black, a Death Eater and fell trhough a mysterious archway believed to be a passage between the worlds of the living and the deads. Once again Harry’s world is broken into pieces. Wanting to get revenge, Harry runs after Bellatrix but faces Voldemort. Saved by Dumbledore, Harry is sent back to Hogwarts where a couple of minute later, he is joined by Dumbledore. Finaly the Headmaster reveal to him why Voldemort wanted so badly to kill him. Before Harry’s birth a prophecy was made annoucing that would came the one who would have the power to destroy the Dark Lord. The Dark Lord would mark him as is equal and one the the two would have to die by the hand of the other. Dumbledore tells Harry that Voldemort know only parts of the prophecy and that it was why he wanted the orb. Dumbledore also tell Harry that in dying to protect him, his mother put all her love into him performing an ancient protector spell that would be in his blood for ever. The same blood as his mother running in Petunia Dursley’s blood made of her home the best protection for Harry. As long as he would remain there he would be protected against Voldemort.
Harry still denying that Sirius is really dead, is confuse and hurt. Now the thruth about Voldemort is commun knowledge in the wizard community, Fudge admitting to the press that the Dark Lord is indeed returned. Another year at Hogwarts ends. But Harry’s universe is completely changed. Harry has lost the only person close to a parent he has ever known and he now knows that would come a time when he’ll have to face Voldemort in an ultimate battle where one of them will not get out alive.
The only thing remaining intact is his friends loyalty. The hope of seeing them again soon and the knowledge that Lupin and some other members of the order will be lookin after him from afar leaves Harry a little less desperate to spend another summer at the Dursley.
You have done a good job in analysing mainly in Harry Potter only which is a good thing... You also used some quotes to prove your point which also was good... It also shown that you know the book quite well...
