Title: What band has the best lyrics?
Description: It's pretty much self-explanatory

There are three bands that come to mind when i think "good lyrics." One is dashboard confessional. This guy is amazing with words. And they are all easy to understand. He annunciates(?) very well. Another band is AFI. The songs have incredible lyrics, written with a fiery passion, but it is hard to understand what some songs are about. Also the lead singer has an incredible voice and a nice range. The last one is thrice. If you can decipher the yelling, which isn't too hard, the lyrics are awesome and they are written very well with the songs. I mean the lyrics are in just the right places and the have just the right tune to make the songs awesome.

1) Thrice - They play with alot of passion, you can tell. Dustin is an excellent writer and should keep it up.
2) AFI - They have very good lyrics also. they are my second favorite.

I don't think saves the day lyrics are all that good. it might be because i've only heard 4 of their songs but i dunno :p

thrice is really cool because they use metaphors for their lyrics, so you have to read through the words and really get to the meanings, which in most cases is about love, hope, devotion, sadness, and other emotions rather than what the lyrics suggest at first glance. like mutt and eskimo said dashboard is also really cool. he has cool points of view that let you feel what hes feeling without getting annoying like some emotional music. also At the Drive In has some cool lyrics like in the song "one armed sissor"
and also you cant forget me. i mean, lets face it, im fricken awesome at writing lyrics and melodies and harmonies. im just the coolest.
and i cant forget my mans n' them... tupac and 50 cent
REPRESENT!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think saves the day has good enough lyrics to be rated with dashboard, afi and thrice, but their lyrics are pretty good. Same with Relient K. And dangit lunchbox, you never let me write the freakin lyrics!
eskimo - April 28, 2003 08:56 PM (GMT)
all right, saves the day doesnt have that good of lyrics, but relient k is still pretty good, but not as good as afi, thrice and dashboard
