I don't quite understand it...the first ep was so damn random I almost stopped watching...O_O

Heh.. the whole series is THE single MOST random anime I have ever seen! Seriously! But.. just.. go with it.. the funniest thing is how they play the episodes out of order on purpose.. hehe .. Fun stuff.
Really, it's a decent show. It has some really really funny stuff in it. So give it a couple more episodes if you can!!

Yeah, one of the attractions to Melancholy is the randomness. I mean, how can you not like a show where the idea is that the future all depends on keeping one girl happy? Who wouldn't want that sort of reality. The first ep (or ep 0, I guess) is awesome. And I love how the main male character provides a running commentary on what's going on. Oh yeah, and the ending theme dance is awesome; my anime club would love to be able to do that routine.

I love the opening song, I have it on my MP3 player ^_^ And yeah random is what I'm into, I did watch Bobobo....

Okay, I just found out the primary dub cast for Haruhi (as done by Bandai so you should know to expect some of these VAs):

Haruhi: Wendee Lee. She was Karasuma in Witch Hunter Robin, and (surprise) Yahiko in Kenshin! Yup, but under the name Elyse Floyd apparently. From the clip, she does an okay high school student. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Kyon: Crispin Freeman. YAY!! Another highly cynical CF character, only this one wishes that he could be around just normal humans. Woah, is he joining the wrong team. Still . . . YAY!!!! Like I really needed another reason to like this show. The intro piece used some voice clips from Chobits though; sheesh, there are plenty of better shows to gather clips from. Doesn't anyone remember Slayers anymore?!

Mikuru: Stephanie Sheh. Well, I've never really heard of her, but she's Hinata in Naruto and Orihime in Bleach so I imagine that makes some people are familiar with her. Mikuru's so cute!

Yuki: Michelle Ruff. Dojima from WHR, Ayase in Scryed (I warned you about Bandai, didn't I?), and Rukia in Bleach. Yuki cracks me up, she's so deadpan, kinda like Ruri in Nadesico.

Koizume (the one with his eyes almost always closed, which makes him the type you should always be concerned around): Johnny Yong Bosch. He's been Vash, Kiba from Wolf's Rain, Haruto from Witch Hunter Robin, and Ichigo in Bleach (and probably some others that I'm forgetting.) Hey, I'd say we can trust him.

Johnny young bosch is also Rento Thurston in Eureka 7, anyway, I haven't gotten around to watching anymore, been on a trip in Tokyo with my girlfriend's university art class!

We watched the first two episodes in club yesterday of the English dub and I'm happy to report that everyone agreed that it was well-done. And I love their student film with Mikuru's future battle waitress; love Kyon's narration and running commentary. Crispin Freeman's reading of Kyon makes me think of Zelgadis from Slayers and Shannon from Scrapped Princess, the straight man in the group trying to keep up with the domineering, mildly insane main female character. One of the guys in club didn't recognize Johnny Yong Bosch's voice for Itsuki and didn't recall who Johnny even is until I said he was also Vash.

Crispin Freeman, only the most ubiquitous dub voice actor EVER.

I saw Haruhi on Youtube. Funfun. Now I need to rent the DVDs so I can listen to Crispin's lovely, lovely voice.
