Title: Why Not, I Like Attention
Description: the place where it all goes down
Selphie Tivrusky 5 - February 14, 2006 02:15 AM (GMT)
yeah, so I'm not really all that new here.
I'm not much of a message board person either.
I sort of remember every once in a while, get real into it, then ... stop.
then the whole thing happens all over again!
I go by Selphie, of course that's not my real name.
I just happened to look a lot like Selphie from FFVIII when I got the nickname.
It's stuck ever since.
I really love music. More than anime even.
When I watch a new series, it had better have good music, or I ditch it.
Yoko Kanno is my most favorite composer next to John Williams.
I'm a classical singer and a violinist, so I know what I'm talking about.
I like sports, but being an average anime fan, I'm a bit heavy, so, I don't actually do any. I'm good at them, but I get out of breath faster than normal sports junkies.
I'm not an ardent reader either. I only like funny or intellectual science fiction.
My favorite authors are Michael Crichton and Douglas Adams.
oh, and I hate stupid people
Mishi - February 15, 2006 01:56 AM (GMT)
Have you ever read any Isaac Asimov? The guy has an excellent sense of humour.
Fang-chan - February 17, 2006 12:50 AM (GMT)
Have you ever played or heard of FFX-2? My favorite character is Paine.
She has that "dark" and fun personality that totally matches mine!
Selphie Tivrusky 5 - February 20, 2006 02:39 PM (GMT)
sorry, back, I did one of those video game weekend things
weeelll, I haven't read any asimov, but I know all about him
I'm not much of a reader. I really like those kinds of books
but I'm really busy and don't have much time to even read
my book review books, much less enjoyment books
I've always wanted to read I, Robot
and yes, I've played, own, and dislike FFX-2
Paine is the coolest girl in the video game.
I'm glad she's not as frilly as the other girls.
I just really like guys so much, that I really don't
like FFX-2 because it has too much... girl action. lol.
anyways, dark personalities are very awesome
but, I've delt with too many people who have them
so I usually like people who have a really happy
optomistic personality. I'm just a skeptic.
yeah, my favorite video game is Kingdom Hearts
Mishi - February 22, 2006 02:01 AM (GMT)
I, Robot is a collection of short stories. The Caves of Steel is probably the most closely related to the movie that came out a little bit ago.
Selphie Tivrusky 5 - February 22, 2006 03:36 AM (GMT)
yeah, the movie was really dumb
my genius sister told me how they really didn't relate
she was quite upset about that actually...
you know, all this makes me want to read some asimov
my sister's boyfriend's favorite author is asimov
he probably has all of his books, maybe he'll let
me borrow some, but then again my sis has most
of his books too... wow. circle.
hey, anyone like archery?
Mishi - February 22, 2006 08:49 PM (GMT)
At the time I was reading the Foundation Trilogy. The Caves of Steel is the first Robot series book I've read. Although I sort of guess that the movie wasn't anything like Asimov's books. I had fun watching it, though.
Selphie Tivrusky 5 - February 23, 2006 03:38 AM (GMT)
well, enough asimov for me
right now I'm reading a biography of C.S. Lewis
it's written by his step-son
it's the easiest thing I've ever read, it's like something I would write
how about music?
I like oldies really.
actually, I like pretty much anything, except country, I hate country
oh, and I don't like hard/death metal, too much noise....
I don't really like anything that's extremely loud for no reason.
Let's just stick to oldies. I like oldies.
whoa! total w00tness!
I just became an "offical fangirl"
about time, goodness :D
Mishi - February 23, 2006 07:14 AM (GMT)
Folk songs. And Rock. I like oldies too.
Selphie Tivrusky 5 - February 23, 2006 08:12 PM (GMT)
folk songs?
that sounds interesting, do elaborate!
Mishi - February 23, 2006 09:38 PM (GMT)
Like Simon and Garfunkle songs. And Bob Dylan songs. And Penny Lang and Stan Rogers who is like THE Canadian folk singer (even though he's dead now.) and traditional irish songs like The Irish Rover and Paddy's Lamentation.
Selphie Tivrusky 5 - February 25, 2006 03:26 AM (GMT)
egads, Simon and Garfunkel.
I will tell you that the Sound of Silence
is one of my favorite songs, even though
it is also one of the most ridiculous songs I have ever heard
oh and I love to say "an island never cries"
just because I think it is hilarious
It was sad they broke up
but I really love Simon's Graceland CD
Bob Dylan? I never thought of him as a folk singer
And I've never heard of the other ones
I love the Ashoken Farewell.
I play the violin, and that is definitely
one of my favorite pieces to play on it ^_^

::A Nans Welcome Glitter Balloon drops out of the sky and lands on Selphie's head, where it explodes, dousing her in gold glitter goo and colorful, curly ribbons. A button appears on her shirt that reads "Bishonen Stalker - and Proud of It!":: Please accept my very late greeting and welcome to our board! Have fun, and I'll see you around!
*~*NansJns*~* B)
Selphie Tivrusky 5 - February 28, 2006 01:11 PM (GMT)
:D whee!~* *runs around with glitter*
wow! what a way to make someone feel welcome! lol
thanks! :)
ooh ooh ooh!
and now I'm officially a fem-gri-la stalker!
<3 for bishies!
Mishi - March 1, 2006 04:15 AM (GMT)
Doesn't take much to be a stalker. Just post more than 35 posts, I guess.
Selphie Tivrusky 5 - March 2, 2006 01:31 AM (GMT)
it was 40 posts, but yeah
I just think it's fun to "go up in rank"
if that's how you want to put it

yeah, I started writing this post 2 hours ago
and I am now back ... and in extreme pain
my friend in entered in our school's pageant
and for her talent she wanted to do kendo, well
she asked me if I would spar with her, and
being the nice person that I am, I said yes
(during the summer we take fencing at camp)
so that's what I was doing the last hour,
I was sparing with my friend
so she's SUPER good, and I've never done kendo before
I've only done fencing, which I have found out, is very different
so when we practice, she beats me into a pulp
I have awful bruises *cries*
the last time we practiced she black and blued and purpled
my right hand, which is my writing and violin playing hand
luckily, this time she only hit my hand once
but she hit my inner thigh, in the same place, multiple times
ooooh my god it hurts so bad
luckily the pageant is this saturday night
and then it will alllll be over
I can go back to my MUCH LESS painful fencing
I love fencing <3
Mishi - March 2, 2006 02:36 AM (GMT)
Oh, my. When were the days when talent shows were about kids thinking they could sing but actually being awful at it, so that the only torture was auditory?
Selphie Tivrusky 5 - March 2, 2006 03:35 AM (GMT)
lol
thanks for feeling my pain
there's another girl playing the violin, but she's freaking awesome
there's another girl doing karate, but my friend says she says
"hiya" like a little girl when she "punches" someone
there's another girl on a unicycle (hee hee, unicycle)
and I don't know what the others are doing
I think we'll kick all their dumb butts
Mishi - March 2, 2006 10:26 PM (GMT)
In my old High School, they have a tradition. The graduates all put on a big show that we call the 5eme Acte. I performed in it last year as a singer. (but I preferred the show I did with the Choir. I got applause before the song was even over for my solo. ^__^)
Our History teacher was impressed. Usually, according to him, the show was just fashion show after fashion show, with a bunch of girls strutting up and down the stage, looking pretty (and/or slutty). But ours kept the silliness to a minimum and we had a bunch of ethnic dances and a girl dancing ballet and a 'magic' act, and a comedy skit or three...
Selphie Tivrusky 5 - March 3, 2006 01:36 AM (GMT)
hmm
well, we have a ladies pageant and a men's pageant
we also, separately, have a talent show
we also have fashion shows, but that's all for community service stuff
Mishi - March 3, 2006 02:07 AM (GMT)
Ours was an all-girl school.
Selphie Tivrusky 5 - March 3, 2006 03:13 AM (GMT)
ah ha
I go to a boy/girl school
Selphie Tivrusky 5 - March 4, 2006 01:44 AM (GMT)
hey, I hit Bishounen Crazy status!
Mishi - March 4, 2006 10:46 PM (GMT)
And I, semi-permanent resident status.
Selphie Tivrusky 5 - March 8, 2006 01:22 AM (GMT)
so I started ballroom dancing
in the middle of january
I recommend it to anyone and everyone
I have so much fun
