Title: Questioning My Style.

Hey, everybody. I've been doing artwork for a game I'm making, and I tend to make my characters *very* pretty. However, I'm catching a lot of heck for it from people that don't understand bishounen or shoujo in general. They're making me feel like I've been doing everything wrong and that none of my characters work.

Now I'm wondering if I'm making them just too pretty. Can you tell me what you think? I really need the opinion of people who understand bishounen.

Here's my incubus type character:

screw those guys! I think they look great! ^_^ Everyone has their own style. Don't let 'em get you down just because they don't appreciate it. The world would suck indeed if everyone only drew things they way they're "supposed" to be drawn. I think your style is awesome, keep up the good work!

They look fine to me! :P The Incubus kinda reminds me of an older, punk-goth angel version of YGO's Bakura, but that's just me, I'm sure.

How the characters look should match the game. All you gave us what your characters look like, what is the game about and what is the mood you're going for. If it were some GI Joe-shoot'em-up video game, then, yes, those characters would be all wrong. But, if it were a dark fantasy, then yes, those characters would definitely work.
Now, you have to realize- I'm soo sorry, this is going to sound feminist.... but the gaming industry is male dominant. If you were make those characters female they would work. That's the downside to the industry, its very one sided. That's why those characters don't work for who you're working with, because they don't care for that style- it doesn't turn them on... :rolls eyes: That's of course, you work with a Japanese game company, but it sounds like you don't.
So in conclusion, you're characters are fine as long as they match the game- and they won't work in a male dominated industry.
