Okay, for those of you who occasionally watch Nick (I don't know how to spell the whole thing), they had a presentation last night for "Avatar: The Last Airbender" which I watched, and it has got me stumped. It looks like original anime, the animation is almost as smooth as Miyazaki's, and it seems like it's based off a japanese legend, but the mouthing looks identical to the English words. Are we just getting much better at dubbing or what?

It's not originally anime. It's one of those hybrid series like "Totally Spies" and "Teen Titans". But yeah, I too was interested when I saw the trailers for this. The animation is really smooth and cool lookin' and I didn't get to watch it, but my bro said it was pretty cool. Like I said, I haven't actually seen it though, so I don't know if it's really based off Japanese legend or not... I'd like to watch it sometime though... >_<

if its okay i'm going to describe alittle of it. so far what Ive seen is that this 12 yaer old kid called an air bender is the last of his kind he apaerently was frozen for two hundred years meanwhile the powerful fire benders destroyed his entire race and on his trip to find his home he descovers and enters a sacred temple and we find out he is not the only avatar,we find out he is the reincarnation of others the pattern goes like this air earth water fire then air again{I may have the order wrong} . any way he finds out that his village was destroyed by the firebenders and he goes all glowwy like and is given all the power of the airbenders. and that's about all I've seen but what I've seen I like. SORRRY FOR GIVING AWAY SOME OF THE STORY B)

I find this cartoon very humorous.

I was watching "Avatar:The Last Airbender behind the scenes" OnDemand(cable), and it showed this dude who taught the artists how to do martial arts and what not, JUST so they know how to animate the characters, and I think the little "(something)-bender" is a legend of different origins.

Something Bender meening he takes control of every power fire water air earth ..... you call them avatars and he's the last one since he was frozeded thus the name avatar the last air bender. -_- it should be called avatar the last avatar....... *mummbles under breathe* stupid avatar <_<

Now that I've actually SEEN this show, I can comment on it. Avatar is freaking awesome! My roommate got me hooked on it. It's a great show. But no, it isn't anime, though I'm sure like a lot of us here, they've seen some. I can see some influence of it here and there.

But this is definitely an American show. It was made by Nick studios, which is suprising because they have never come up with anything so beautifully drawn as this. (probably because they send it out to Korea to be animated).

But this is definitely a show worth your time. The first DVD should be out in January. 11 bucks for 4 episodes. not too bad.

And it's very rare that something created in this country is this good so I hope everyone at least gives it a chance. it's awesome! ^.^

I've been getting into it; it's really good, but I have this tendency to forget when it's on... :blink: But the animation is very nice, and the story is wonderfully detailed, especially for an American cartoon. :)

I'd vote for Sokka and Zuko (despite his scar...I won't go into how he got that, it would be definite spoilage ^.^;; ) as being bishonen in the story ^^

I'd vote Aang too, but he's just a bit young. ^.^;;

I watched when Nick aired the first
episode and I really took a liking to it.
I've seen most of the episodes now.
I think it has a good plot line
and good fake japanese animation.
I really like how they incorporated
real martial arts moves into the fighting styles.

Is anyone else dying while they wait for the new season??

Probably shouldn't even post this here, but oh well. :P I've watched this show on and off and I think it's pretty cool. But the weird thing is I had a dream about it last night ^^; I was the girl, the water bender and we were being pursued by the fire prince dude in this giant ice temple. It was pretty wicked awesome... so uh... yeah... just thought I'd mention it... I'll uh... go now. ^^;

Did anyone else feel a bit sorry for Zuko (if that's how you spell it) during the ending of the first season? I mean, come on, that water had to be, like, twenty degrees below zero! And I'm getting the feeling I won't like his sister very much...

Wow.......*looks around* I havent been here for like, 2 years..... amazing.... Anyway, my sister got me into avatar, at first I thought it was really weird but after she went on for about an hour on it, I started watching.

I could not. stop. laughing. And its not just funny, I thought it was really awsume when they [bended] elements. I was stoked.

Sorry, dont watch it all the time so I dont know^^
