Title: Big Trip To Boise Idaho For Anime Oasis
Description: how is my club going to survive?

My anime club at school is planning to go to Biose for Anime oasis as a field trip. I'm the president and this means a butt load of work to make this happen. I've come up with fund raisers and volunteers to help with this but I'm not sure what else we should do to raise money. If any of you have ideas on how to raise money or get transportation I would be very greatful.

Uhhh.....sell candy? I'm not really up-to-par with fundraisers and that sort of thing.
My school has just started an anime club this year. It's not very major yet, all we do is sit in a teacher's classroom at lunch and watch as much anime as we can fit into that small period of time(which would be like...one episode of Azumanga, or something like that. We meet every week, and it's taken us about three weeks just to get most of the way through the Inu-Yasha movie u.u').
Having been just begun, it's not very developed yet....funny thing was, the people thinking it up told me about it and I thought it was neat (of course)...but, since I'm a senior and the most hard-core of them all (I live in a small town where they are rather sheltered from anime culture. Sad, I know) they decided to make me the prez! one day they just came up to me and said, "Oh, btw, you're gonna be the president of the club", and I was like "WHOA! When did this happen?"
Anyway, yeah, I really wish I could help, but, as I said before, I'm not good with fundraisers...maybe you could have some of the people in the club draw things and try to sell them? *shrug*

Good luck with the trip thing. You should look too see if there are any large anime groups in your area. The group I belong too (Orange Anime) has become such a large presence here in Florida that we get special hotel rates for cons and stuff. There may be a group like that up around you somewhere.
Anyways, you guys're lucky, we never really had a "club" at my school. We all just kinda congregated before school and during lunch. I was the main anime supplier. I always carried a small library of DVDs and Manga in my back pack. The whole thing kinda made me feel like an Anime drug dealer, which was both creepy and cool.
Those were good times but, sadly, I graduated last year and I have yet too hear of anybody stepping up too take my place. As if anybody could!

isn't that in March? woah... that's not really a whole lot of time to get money to cover everyone.... but hey good luck! How many people in your club? What is the total that you need to reach?
I can only think of car washes but in the winter that would suck... you guys would freeze.
You know of another great field trip? In May go downtown and stay at the Prime for Memorial Day weekend and attend CONduit. The anime influence there is getting bigger... lol
.... Kagome-chan knows where downtown is.... ;)

I have an IDEA!!! I'm a freakin genius I tell you!
Ok, but for this idea to work I need info: How many members are in your club that are going - if they're going they need to be at the fundraiser helping. And from that you can figure out how much money you need to raise, i.e. $200 per person, etc.
But this idea can kill many birds with one stone. It's fundraiser and educational to the community. I'm not sure if you're aware but a few weeks ago there was an ignorant article about anime and manga that ran in one of the papers... can't remember which one... oh it made me so mad! So an editorial has to be written on this to show how wrong she was AND at the same time this little carnival/fundraiser can be advertised.... oh onto what it is:
(and if you need volunteers - I'll gladly help out - I want to be at the information booth!!!)
Ok, do like a mini carnival - BUT have things to sell - japanese related and etc, like a bazaar - have the anime and manga information "desk" YOu would have to advertise it ....
I've gotta go to lunch but pm me and I can explain it all in detail... I think it will work out nicely - it'll be hardwork, but it could be worth it.

Yeah, I'm going to be graduating this year and won't be able to see how the club grows (if it does, which I think it will). But, the position of Pres will be taken care of by the end of the year ^.^
I might start something at the college up here...it's really close to the high school (small town). Since Tucson has TAS (which is what they call the little convention type thing they hold every other weekend on the UofA campus where they just show anime the whole day) I was thinking I could start up something like that...but, I dunno...as far as academics go, I'm an underachiever, and I don't think I'd be able to keep up the club and keep up on my studies at the same time u.u'
