Title: Very Bad Animes.. Or Manga...
Description: Buyers beware!
kiaraiskiara - August 16, 2003 01:15 PM (GMT)
I think it would be wise if we had a section for animes that... weren't very good (to put it lightly) Let me start...
*Fortune Quest*
MR. BOOOOOTS!!! >>laughs with great vigor<< Ok, sorry, needed to do that. Alright... This movie is great for seven year olds so, it has every element of a play done by volunteers for a children's shelter (no offence intended). That's just what is, cheaply made, or at the very least, poorly dubbed. Hehe... Mr. Boots... The main thing about this movie that sent me rolling, was the names. One of them, the mapmaker, Pastel. Heck! Nobody wears pastels, let alone name someone that! Okay, I understand the calling the knight character Clay, but why do that? One of the final ones is the son of Mr. Boots >>snicker<<, Trapp: the thief and also the resident Peter Pan want-to-be.
So the overall synopsis, is that you would be best to get this if you are a seven year old, want to make fun of something pitiful or the last, but not least, you have a thing for pastels (pun intended).

I tried to watch Cyborg 009 and Kikaider once, but in the end, I was sitting there muttering about the horribleness of the ugly bishounen, the lame plot, and the bad animation. The plots for both animes are very alike, and the badguys are unrealistic. No offense to the fans of them course, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I do know one person who likes the them, but I don't know why she does. Oh, and the person who created these animes can't draw.
kiaraiskiara - August 17, 2003 01:57 PM (GMT)
I think the animes that you are talking about have been taken from old manga and recreated... Sad.... they're running out of ideas... Or wish to go old school...
Oh! And the fortune Quest ppl did draw pritty well... But their efforts were wasted...
Youkai-chan - August 19, 2003 12:32 PM (GMT)
I could name alot but I will only name Gasarax it just was sooooo boring I mean the animation was great the bishonen fine but it put me to sleep -_-
And all of this is my opion by the way.
Sabrina_Chan - September 2, 2003 01:25 AM (GMT)
This is only what I think, if you think one of these two animes are great then think that. I don't.
Debutante Detectives
Animation 6
Music 7 . 5
Storyline 2
Comments - I'll start out by saying that the character design was really great, lots of cute anime girls in this one. (and boys of course.) Now with that said, I'll mention that the story totally SUCKED! The story had absolutely NO coherency what-so-ever, and scenes were thrown in for the sake of being thrown in. Another bad point was that things were WAY over... blown, to a point where it made it seem stupid. I might also add, that there were parts which were funny but many times even funny parts were struggling. This series would have been way more charming if it had followed at least SOME parameters of reality.
~~~~~~
Eat Man
Animation 5.5
Music 7
Storyline 5
Comments - This series had little potential, but fell completely flat! The story drags at painful slow pace, and very little is even accomplished by the end. Little is ever said about Bolt himself, and even worse is the fact that each half hour episode has nothing to do with the previous or next. Since Bandai decided to release this series two episodes per tape, you can't even get to know the one character that goes from episode to episode, which is Bolt. Overall I thought this title sucked. Your better off watching something else, anything else really.
tYCHou - September 12, 2003 06:09 PM (GMT)
All I can say is "Myuki-Chan in wonderland".
That is still one of the WORST animes I have ever seen. And it's done by CLAMP! What were they thinking when they made it! It's all about lesbians! Dirty old women! I also just saw Real Bout Highschool. That one was pretty stupid, too. If I didn't get to rent that for free, I would have been pissed. Don't watch either kids, they're not worth your time.
And Nie-Chan, why haven't you mentioned.....what was it? Sailor Victory? Or whatever it was? ^.^
Oh yeah!! let me do that right now!! lol
Sailor Victory wasted 20 or so minutes of my life that sadly, I will never get back. :(
It is about women and girls that go fight "crime" in big robots, but oddly they change into girl school uniforms :huh: before piloting the robots. But to change they must do a changing sequence!
<_< Do we really need a magical change scene?
Why yes they do! Because why else would they be able to get the girls naked and fly across your screen? So, why did I ever question the sincerity behind the changing scene?
But the worst part of the changing thing, there is a LITTLE girl who is the youngest. When she is clothed she is flatter than Lina Inverse :lol: , as a little girl should be!!! But magically during the transformation sequence as she flies naked across your screen she is as big as the adult lady... or even Naga (keeping with the Slayers reference)! Woah!! Where did she get that magic? Do tell! I want some! :blink: just kidding. Then, once she is clothed, she is flat again. <_< .......So, during the sequence they made her really big chested because........? I don't know.
Short version don't watch Sailor Victory because it is stupid.
I have another one, but I got to get back to work, so I'll save that for either tonight or tomorow. :lol:
Oh please do tell what this other one is cause now I'm curious :huh:
Youkai-chan - September 12, 2003 11:04 PM (GMT)
Oh my goodness I take it Earthian didn't catch your fancy I've never seen it but I don't thinkI will now.
nie-chan - September 12, 2003 11:00 PM (GMT)
Since our system is down, I'm sitting here doing nothing I thought "Hm..I should go do that other review." So, here you go:
Earthian. I'm sure it probably is a great manga and all for an OVA to be made but there were some problems with it. I was also farely new to anime when I saw this.
The first half (1-2 I believe) is fine, I really enjoyed the first half. It was done awhile back, you can tell by the animation...a little old school-ness to it. So, you have these angels coming down to earth to see if Earth is doing ok...or something like that. One of the angel has black wings which is uncommon, and he cared a lot about humanity. The other could careless.
Ok, now here comes the problem. During the 2nd part (3-4) This was done much later, the animation is gorgeous. But the writing definately lacks!!
APPARENTLY there was a war between heaven and Earth and these two angels took Earth's side with other angels. :blink: Well, I don't know for sure BECAUSE they never told you what happens. Just all of a sudden they are talking about how they chose this by choosing Earth's side or someting ??? There was like ONE sentence in the very begining, "There was a war." I'm sure that was what it was!
And they have to go rescue the black winged angel..... What he got captured?? WAs this part of the war?? I don't know they never tell you. But as they rescue him you see the scientist that is conducting experiments. WAIT!! He died in the first part..... <_< well, I guess he didn't. What is this? The scientist is bitter because the guy he created (which you meet in the first part) is dead?? How? WHAT he sacrificed himself during the war? WEll, I guess I'm all sad and all about this guy dying in a war I didn't know HaPPENED. WHat is this?? YOU LOVE HIM? WHAT you had a RELATIONSHIP? WHEN??!! While you were "dead"? That was never mentioned in the first part. It just came out of nowhere.
Ok, so I think I'm following this story. Ok, we're at the angel's apartment because they have rescued this angel. You know they are pretty weak for being angels. What is this? both of them are in bed....together? :huh: um...what are they doing....WHAT.... :blink: WHEN did they become an item..... :o AH!!! I need a remote, they didn't do things like this in the first part!!!....oh, good the black winged one isn't in the mood. Lucky for me! Yeah you blondie go take a cold shower!
The big problem was things just happened without explaining. It was like they were in the middle of production and they were like "HEY lets make them gay!! And that dead scientist, lets bring him back from the dead and make him gay too. And why not make a war happen too? IT will be great!"
:huh: WHY?? Is story no longer important?
Yeah, so there is my rant on Earthian.
~nie-chan
kiaraiskiara - September 12, 2003 11:00 PM (GMT)
Isn't that so sad with Real Bout High School? I mean the manga is so COOL, I love it... Then I see the anime and it is one of the most pitiful things I have ever seen!
kiaraiskiara - September 12, 2003 11:03 PM (GMT)
Umm.. ok, sry for the off topic post! Sorta started writing when you were still writing...
Umm.. ok, sry for the off topic post! Sorta started writing when you were still writing...
ol :lol: yeah that was a long post!! LOL, no problem and it wasn't off topic, you were replying to Tychou's thread. So no worries! ;)
Oh my goodness I take it Earthian didn't catch your fancy I've never seen it but I don't thinkI will now
YEp, Earthian impressed so much that I even rember the names. (please note sarcasm) HEnce, blondie, black winged angel, and that one scientist guy. Yeah, really impressed here!!
Youkai-chan - September 13, 2003 02:01 PM (GMT)
Well since it was that good of course you would remember the names of all the chracters I mean I remember all the names in all the animes I didn't really like (note sarcasim)
Variable Geo
Category - martial arts / action
Animation 5
Music 6
Storyline 3
Dubbing 6
About - Variable Geo you could say, is one of the most twisted fighting events you could probably think of - which is probably why just about everyone in the world watches it when a match occurs. The premise is that two waitresses engage in combat until KO, or submission. The catch is that the loser has to take off her clothes in public. While fights up to this point have been clean (well as clean as they get considering...), someone decides to start pulling the strings behind the scences with bio enhancements, steroids, and brainwashing. This sort of thing could get a waitress into some serious trouble...
Comments - whoo hoo, fighting video game anime! Ha!, guess what? plot sucks! Who would have thought?! Fight scenes at times were fairly decent, but of course this suffers from lack of plot, character development, and all around fighter anime cheese. Still all of the aforesaid isn't the reason you shouldn't watch this show. No the main reason that you will want to avoid this title is the corny dialogs that are so horrid they will make you want to shoot yourself on the spot to end the pain. I'm serious.
Sister Princess
Category - ? [you tell me]
Animation 2
Music 6
Storyline 3
About - Wataru recently got accepted to a high school, although he had never heard of it. Wataru almost changed his mind once he saw the giant monkey statue watching over the remote island where he would attend school. Yet somehow he ended up going anyway. After a few happenings Wataru finally ended up in a very large house. For a loner like Wataru it was all a bit strange... especially since it turns out that he would end up living with his 12 little sisters that he never knew about.
Comments - Sister Princess is more or less based off of a hentai game of the same name which gathered popularity due to the adorable girl characters (I won't even go into the age thing...) How would I sum up this anime? I'd put it like this: "BLEAAAH". You might as well totally write off the first two episodes. They have no direction or point to them - their only purpose is to dump Wataru into the same house with the girls. From there each episode tends to sort of feature a different girl. Each episode tends to basically pander to the audience more than trying to accomplish anything. Don't get me wrong, the girls are cute and all (although I was very unimpressed with the animation), but the stories were very dull. So basically if you just want to gawk at cute (very) young anime girls (6-16), that's about all this title has to offer. And if that's what you want to do, you'd be much better off getting the game which has superior artwork. In defense of this anime, I will point out that it has a humorous moment every now and then, but certainly not enough to pull this title from my sleeping pill alternative list (that reads as BORING).
Two more animes to avoid.
Youkai-chan - September 13, 2003 10:17 PM (GMT)
Notaably the two you just named are probably directed to the male audience but I agree with you that pretty much all fighting animes have no plot just skimpy outfits for the girls to wear . . . DOES ANYONE ELSE FIND THAT ANNOYING?????
Sabrina_Chan - September 13, 2003 10:22 PM (GMT)
I do! I think it's rather irksome for people to do that. Let's see what other animes you should stay away from...
Sakura Wars
Category - action
Animation 5.5
Music 7
Storyline 3.5
Comments - This is one show that I was very interested in seeing. If for no other reason, just because of all the hype about it. Well the hype is just hype I guess. The setting takes place around 1919. The story is about... well various girls developing their abilities I guess. The world was in a demon war, and in order to survive the impending second, various girls with various spiritual powers gather in Tokyo to form an elite group. (I had to learn that from a page, the show tells you little to nothing). After watching the first two episodes, I still know nothing about it. Perhaps it's because this anime is based off of a video game that the storyline is so poorly put together.
Anyhow, getting down to business, this anime seemed to be another formula anime which reminded me of Sorcerer Hunters. The character development was extremely poor. The story had the coherency of a drunk schizophrenic's dream, and the plot... um..... I'll tell you when I find it. The anime seems to develop through years by clips of characters which are nothing more than odds and ends. Often times clips such as an experiment of Cohran's blowing up in her face were inserted for no reason, or relevance to the story. But then again nothing is really explained in great detail, such as why this group who is supposed to save the world is practicing dancing around in fairy costumes. Currently I'm giving this a "don't see" review, although I'll give it one more chance when I watch the third. The fact that nothing develops in the first episode is a tell tale sign of a poor anime. The fact that nothing develops by the end of the second episode is a sign that this really WILL be a poor anime. The fact that I'm even giving this anime a third chance shows that there's a hell of a lot of potential, but obviously they already blew two episodes. Three strikes.... your out.
Sailor Victory
Category - action / mecha
Animation 5
Music 7
Storyline 4
Dubbing 7
About - In the future there are many perils that can face the city. Luckily the local police are armed with mecha suits to help battle crime. But what happens when the police are seriously outgunned and totally out of their league? Well the get the crap beaten out of them of course, but in addition to that, Sailor Victory appears in their giant mecha suits of extreme power. They will defend the city to the last, and hopefully won't make total fools of themselves in the meantime...
Comments - Hmmm... Okay, this is a title I didn't even intend on seeing, I just did. From the start it didn't seem to be going far, but had potential. Eventually things just sort of ended up drawn out and much of it ended up rather stupid. It tried to be cute and funny, but more or less just couldn't pull it off. And why do these girls go from normal clothing, to dressing up in school outfits in order to pilot giant mecha, which by the way look and attack like ninja? I have no idea. Well if school girls piloting ninja mecha isn't enough to turn you off, the lack of a plot probably will. Overall, this title came off as EXTREMELY drab.
Youkai-chan - September 14, 2003 02:00 PM (GMT)
I have seen both of those I have seen only the first two episodes of Sakura Wars and it was a little slow getting it could be whole lot better!
Sailor Victory now that was just pointless!!
Comments - Ever see Superman? It's just about the same damn thing. A guy makes a super powerful suit and fights crime. His sister tinkers with it and decides to fight crime with him. Their nemesis' is someone who steals antiques... and that is about it! I was not overly impressed by this film. I saw the first one, but have no intention of renting the rest of the series.
Maze - OAV
Category - fantasy /comedy
Animation 7
Music 7
Storyline 5
About - As Maze and her companions set out to escape the war torn land of Bartolon, they met up with a fairy named Randy. As it would happen, Randy proves to be a good guide. Unfortunatly, the Jaina cult won't let Maze escape so easily.
Comments - While the I rather liked the TV series, I found (to my surprise) that I did not like the OAV. The story directly conflicted with he TV series (even though it takes place at the same time as the middle of the TV series). The story was also pretty weak. Male maze was way to fiendish, and most of the good taste went out the door with excessive nudity. If you want to see Maze, watch the TV series. If you have seen the TV series, your better off not watching the OAV.
~~~~~~~~~
Master of Mosquiton - TV
Category - adventure / comedy
Animation 6.5
Music 7
Storyline 6
About - Inaho Hitomebore is a girl with everything. She's beautiful, rich, smart... but not rich enough (for her anyway). Inaho is always trying to hatch a scheme to make more money, and she thought she hit the motherload when an actual vampire showed up. She managed to defeat the vampire (named Mosquiton), but that wasn't enough, she revived him, and now he has to obey her every command. Needless to say, Mosquiton is less than enthusiastic about the situation, especially since Inaho drags him on all of her quests to find the all powerful O-parts.
Comments - While the beginning sequence has a lot of good animation, the actual show itself was rather lack-luster. The story itself wasn't to particularity interesting, although it has a few funny moments now and then. Probably the worst of it all is Inaho, who surely is one of the most annoying characters in all of anime. Overall I didn't like this series (the OAV seems to have a bit of promise though), and it seemed rather pointless.
Ha, more. Aren't you all glad I put up with watching all the bad animes to warn you?

YEah, I've seen the first episode of Sakura Wars, I didn't really care for it. I heard it was a good show, but I could careless if i saw more or not.
Sailor Victory, well I agree, if you read my review on the first page, that should be obvious. It was extremely pointless.

Youkai-chan - September 14, 2003 10:01 PM (GMT)
I have seen so many better but some are just so bad you kinda have to laugh like Shinesman now that was ridiculous it's basic plot is business men fight crime like the power rangers
nie-chan - September 15, 2003 02:08 AM (GMT)
um... I actually thought Shinesman was funny. What you described....well yeah that is the show! :lol:
But, I thought it was funny. I might not of thought it was as funny if I paid $30 for it, but since I went to Overstock.com's warehouse and rummaged through their DVDs and Vids, I got it for $7. So, I didn't think I wasted too much money on it, I got my money's worth. :D
~nie-chan
Youkai-chan - September 15, 2003 06:06 PM (GMT)
Hey I enjoyed Shinesman I thought it was funny I did laugh thought cause it was just so much of a power rangers clone it I ever saw one but it was jilarious like there weapons "Bussiness card cutter!!!!"
Teshi - September 24, 2003 10:56 PM (GMT)
Dont own me... I know alot of people who like this anime (for what reason... I dont know) but Neia_7 was the worst thing I EVER seen... First of all... it eas extreamly BORING! I literally FELL ASLEEP while I was watching it. Its supposed to be a comedy but I only laighed ONE time. Thats it. One. Through out the whole DVD 1 TIME. I just couldn't get into this... I thought it was so stupid. Not funny at all and REALLY boring. Its basically (if I can remember right) about this girl who is poor and an alien lives with her. The end. Thats it. Oh well... I HATED it
Sabrina_Chan - September 25, 2003 02:59 AM (GMT)
Neia-7 does get better as the story conutines believe it or not. It does get better for those who are willing to sit and watch a while.
tYCHou - October 11, 2003 07:25 PM (GMT)
Okay, I've been trying not to say this, but I feel a need. Here's one of my most hated animes (fems: *roll eyes* Here we go)
ANGEL SANCTURARY!
I hate it with all that is in me! With all my heart and soul!
Actually, I heard the manga was better but the anime sucked. I feel sick to my stomach every time I see it. I think the style is totally hideous and Setsuna is just downright ugly. Plus, I don't care for the plot and he loves his.....sister? And he's angsty about it the WHOLE FREAKING TIME???? Ew!
I probably wouldn't be so bitter if I didn't foolheartedly blow 20 bucks for this piece of crap, thinking it would be good. But I did. And I was wrong. Oh, so wrong.
Yeah, I know, I have no one to blame but myself....BUT STILL! *shakes fist*
So if you ever have the need to ask me why I hate--this is why.
annie-chan - November 3, 2003 12:35 AM (GMT)
the worst manga/anime to me is...THE ESCAFLOWNE MOVIE!!! it had a good plot and stuff, but way too short, and most of the guys were butt ugly. and the noses bother me...the tried to make them more real and rounded, but the just look weird.
PoisonTongue - November 14, 2003 11:07 PM (GMT)
I know! *cries* i have been in love with Van....Since I was 9?? Then the movie came out and i was all excited....But the animation was overly bad, and nobody was like themselves!!! Could it have been produced by somebody else? I don't know...The whole thing deeply upset me...Van didn't look hot! Hitomi was more stupid than usual! Everyone looked different! *dies of the terror*
Okay...Also, I don't like:
Project A-ko
The first time I saw this was long ago....Like twice. THe animation was bad, the plot took forever to take off, and none of the characters were very appealing to ANY people that watched it actually...It had some random bits of off-beat humor, but STILL....Does anyone know when this was made? If it's older than that kind of makes up for it...But I did NOT find this enjoyable. Even when I was small. What is the deal with the whole a-ko, b-ko, c-ko thing? The plot revolves around them (three high-school girls in typical school fuku), and basically a-ko and b-ko fight over friendship with c-ko, a small, stupid blond girl, with no nose. All the hatred and competition fueled between a and b was seemingly fueled from a child-hood incident in the past?? It's just BAD.
