Title: Kitty Thief!
Description: Possible plagerism of Ty-chou's kitties!
NansJns - July 16, 2004 06:29 AM (GMT)
 Someone ripped off one of Ty-chou's kitties! Specifically, Bakura-Kitty! Look!
Bakura "doggie" They're saying he's a dog, and he's been re-drawn to be Yami Baukra, but it's still obviously a rip off of Ty-chou's kitty! I tried to complain, but that option isn't working on that site at the moment. Okay, I admit, I'm not sure this qualifies as all-out plagerism since they did re-draw it themselves, but it's still a take off on Ty-chou's kitty - it's the exact same pose, the same shirt, the same experssion. What do you guys think?

 Wow...'cept that he has one eye closed and it's a little more crudely drawn that is the exact same thing. <_< It doesn't even look like a dog for Pete's sake!

It doesn't look like her drawings, her drawings are cooler looking then that guys. and everyone needs a refernce. they're just following in her greatness :D

Excuse me, Kagome-chan? Have you seen Ty-chou's kittys? here, this is the page with her Yu-Gi-Oh kitties, Bakura is near the bottom:
http://www.anycities.com/user1/ghostofdawn...yugiohkits.htmlYou look at him and tell me again that pic doesn't look like Ty-chou's work. Being inspired by someone else's work is one thing, but that person took her kitty and just redrew it, adding a few small changes. They didn't give Ty-chou credit or anything! It's not a total rip-off, no, but it's still a rip-off!

Theres a term for things like this, it's called Plaguerism (did I spell that right?).
You can, and probably should, sue them for it.
P-chan: plagiarism ;) :ph43r:

Ok so, I went to check the picture myself, since Tyla, I don't believe, had even seen this thread. As luck would have it, she was also online at the time, so I made mention of the stealing of her kitty, and showed her the picture, and she said that it was actually a fairly decent copy of her picture. ;) but that's not the point, unfortunately, her art is popular enough that LOTS of people steal her pictures all the time. Right now, she's rather busy with some projects and has not the time to go after all of the thieves. Plus, the thief in this case, is GERMAN. How the heck is she supposed to talk to someone who doesn't even speak our language, that we know of? So thanks for keeping an eye out. If you notice a theft of anybody's art and it's especially prominent, with the person claiming it as their own entirely, along with all the credit, please, PLEASE inform the artist. I think it's awesome that you guys are looking out for Tyla. She, I'm sure, does too.
At any rate, I just thought I'd let you guys know so you wouldn't continue to worry about this one picture.
Thank you again!!!

Thanks, No-chan-san. There was a time that site had English instructions and complaint buttons, but they disappeared a while ago. *sigh!* And Kagome-chan, I'm not mad at you, I'm mad at the thief. Okay, I'm a little annoyed at you that you don't seem to see how this is a theft. If someone took a piece of art you did, redrew it with one or two tiny changes, and then said it was all theirs, wouldn't you think it was a theft/plagiarism?

Yes it is.
When I first started drawing I was BIG .. big I tell you.. into comics. I collectted everything from X-men, X-factor, Gen13, Team 7, etc. So of course I started drawing my favorite characters.
But you know when you first start out drawing you copy other people's pictures - and then my daddy told me this:
"Make sure you put the copyright symbol and the name of the comic, the artist and the date it was published. Because if you don't you have stolen their picture."
But unfortunately other daddies out there did not teach their children that.
So yes, it bugs me to no end when people take other artist's art and copies it - even if you borrow the pose - you need to give PROPER CREDIT to who and where you borrowed it from.
Copying is a way to learn, but come on! Why would you want to post something that you didn't even really draw?
For the attention?
I'm probably the biggest attention whore around and I will not post anything that isn't orginally mine.
Even if I copied poses for my characters - you know just for practice. No. Because the pose isn't mine. I just don't feel comfortable doing that. Unless I'm doing a parody picture - but if there is ever anything like that I put up the proper credit.

I apologize, I wasn't thinking when I wrote. I understand how horrible that'd be to have something I worked so hard on get stolen. Again sorry.

don't worry about it Kagome-chan, you're not being attacked - it's all good

I saw someone who copied one of Tychou's kitties in a Shonen Jump once!! It wasn't the exactly picture, but it appeared definently traced. It was of a Kurama "Fox" and it made me mad!!
I mean, it got published in a magazine!! GRA!

Hey guys, sorry I didn't reply to this sooner. It took some of the Fems dragging me to the message board to even make me aware at this was on here.
I did know about the Kurama Kitty in Shounen Jump and it totally pissed me off. But there's nothing I can do about it. It's definitely not Shounen Jump's fault. How are they supposed to know when people are sending in ripped off pictures? So there's not much I can really do about it.
The same with everyone else who steals my art or anyone else's. The only thing you can really do is ask them to stop and try to teach them about plagarism since their parents were too lazy ass and irresponsible to do it themselves.
These days, I have grown quite tired of chasing down every person who steals my art. Heck, I have an entire folder in my inbox called "Art Theft" because I get so many reports. I'm tired and I don't have the energy to fight them any more.
My only condolance is that none of these people will make it anywhere by stealing other people's art. After a while, they'll be gone and no one will remember them while (hopfeully) my page will still be around.
It's all I can hope for.
